It has been more than a year now since our wedding, and our guests are still talking about how incredible the food was. Kim was such an open-hearted, creative soul and a fantastic collaborator, helping us determine exactly the right menu for the evening, right down to incorporating lentils (a family favorite)! Plus, the bartenders were top-notch and the specialty cocktails her team created were delicious. If you are looking for delicious food for your event, look no further.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! If you want a caterer that is pretentious, so full of herself and focuses on her needs and not what your requests are, then this is your girl! I e-mailed and called to discuss catering for my upcoming wedding, no response even noting originally that this was for my wedding. I called again a couple weeks later and after some phone tag (I had to call 3x to get a call back), finally get the chance to discuss what I am looking for.
She has a cocktail party menu on her website which is what jumped out at me. I explain there will be 125-150 guests, it is not a formal party (we are hosting a very laid back wedding, I did NOT specify it was a wedding this time) that it was a casual atmosphere but I wanted a few stations set up along with some passed hor d'oeuvres. She asked about dinner and a bar, I explained that there was a bartender already lined up for the gig.
She goes on to say that she needs to do everything - bar, dinner, she needs certain permits in order to even be on site with alcohol and tells me that if this other bartender serves someone underage or over serves, her wait staff could get sued because they are serving the food. Really? I know this is not true being certified to serve alcohol myself and work events where I serve people in establishments that I do not work for, I am the person liable to anyone I serve and I carry the permit to serve the alcohol. Anyways, she goes on to say that her insurance is so outrageous and the health department is up her ass so much and so strict.
My response was, well if that's what you need to do (provide a bartender), then include it in the quote. Meanwhile, we will have our own event insurance (she didn't even ask) and you shouldn't have to defend the quality of your own food if you are that worried about the health department. I even told her to quote dinner too since she made such a stink about that.
She kept insisting she wants to make sure everything is done in my best interest and what will work for me and that she is a full service company and typically handles the set up, serving and clean up. I kept reiterating that yes, that is exactly what I want and why I contacted you. I literally said, I want someone to come in set up, serve and do the clean up.
She went on for 20 minutes on how I should get "my housekeeper or some friends" to help serve the food and we should make our own food ahead and get in touch with Allerdice to rent tables, tents, and dishes from. She kept saying how expensive her service was and that she didn't know my budget and so on. SHE DIDN'T EVEN ASK! This is again, AFTER I kept telling her to just give me a quote to include ALL of the things she is insisting she has to provide.
She kept saying it would probably be best if we just picked some items off of her "To Go Menu" that we could just pick up that day. HAH! If I wanted to prep food and wash dishes for appetizers, dinner and dessert of 150 people, I never would have called you! I can't tell you how many times she told me to make my own food and kept trash talking my bartender she doesn't even know!
Our friend bartends at a couple of the busiest bars in downtown Saratoga - ever heard of City Tavern? Oh, but I'm sure you're random restaurant on the outskirts of Ballston Spa is SO much busier. Get a grip! 20 minutes of my life wasted, hopefully others don't make the same mistake. I'm glad I didn't tell her it was for my wedding, I'm sure the attitude would have been different. I'll be going with Augie's thanks. Learn some customer service skills, or maybe you're housekeeper can handle that.

My brother recently hired Lily and the Rose to cater his wedding. I have never, ever seen a level of unprofessionalism like this. Amongst the many, many things that were jaw dropping - they were 2 hours late (with no call) on the day of the wedding and the owner which they had been working with all along just "decided" not to show up and sent her assistant instead without letting my brother and his wife know.
They repeatedly back tracked on things they said they would do which caused an awful lot of stress during the week of the wedding (which was held at my mothers house). This is the last thing you need. Weddings are stressful enough. It was just a shame that this company delivered a service, in my opinion, that was less than half rate. I would NEVER recommend them.

I was very disappointed by this company. They were unfriendly and unprofessional. We had a moderately priced buffet styled event. The buffet they set up was slow moving (took guests over an hour to get through). When we suggested that the buffet should have been accessible on both sides they were very rude and didn't want to talk. They also came to the event severely understaffed.
I am not in the service industry, so I don't know what an adequate budget for a buffet should be, but I would expect my caterer to advise me what it costs to have a nice event! What we got were a couple of over worked people running around trying to do the work of 10. The buffet was constantly needing to be refilled and messy. Plus we were responsible for renting and setting up all the tables, linens, chairs and catering tent, they brought the food.
And for this mediocre service they charged me $35+ per person. I have had much better experiences for an equal amount of money. Perhaps this was an off day for them, but be sure to meet in person prior to your event and go over everything with a fine tooth comb.
