Went on a Sunday to dine in, so free soup (hot and sour, or egg drop) & egg rolls. I ordered sizzling rice soup, but they didn't do the sizzling part to my disappointment, though it was still good. My husband ordered a garlic dish that came out more sweet and sour. He was dissatisfied, and asked the waitress about it, but she said that was garlic shrimp and ignored him, when he said it tasted sweet.
I got Mongolian onions with a few small slices of beef. I actually SAID "Where's the beef" All in all I am disappointed with our dinner and service. It's such a shame. This was the 1st place I ever had Chinese food and fell in love with the whole tradition, but this location has gone downhill.

Definitely a change in prices, but also our food was not the usual excellence that we have experienced in the past. My husband loves their hot and sour soup but not tonight. He didn't even finish it. His hunan beef and broccoli lacked that hunan seasoning he loves. My stir fried shrimp was not tasty. Lacked any vegetables, rice was not tasty or done to First Wok standards. The shrimp was over cooked and tough. We may think twice before going out of our way to eat there again.

My girlfriend and I ordered 40$-50$ of food. Paid in cash. Two general Tsaos and crab Rangoon etc. HALFWAY through eating we discovered short CURLY GRAY HAIRS in the Tsaos! I am disgusted and disgruntled beyond measure! My girlfriend threw up whatever she was able to eat and I wanted to throw up but was so mad i couldn't even do that! I called AND went back to First walk on 44th st se with my complaint and the man I talked too WOULDNT GIVE ME A REFUND.
He made it sound as if it was MY fault there were grey hairs in the food, and said that they all had black hair. Ummmm I'm sorry but regardless of this I still found hairs. And I brought the hairs in to show them! I was a fan of this place beforehand and recommend you to many people. Now I tell everyone of my experience and avoid it at all costs. It would have been nice to get a refund. Or SOMETHING to make my opinion at least neutral. Please please respond and resolve this issue.

A family owned eatery on Chinese foods. The dishes are very delicious and you get a nice serving. Very friendly service and you don't have to wait very long to be seated, depends on the time you come in. The prices went up 7%, which is lower than the other eateries. If you haven't been there, go try it out. You won't be disappointed with the food.

We arrived during a busy lunch time on a Sunday. The place was pretty busy. The waitress was nice enough, was quick to clear dishes. Something you might need to know is that the egg drop soup has shrimp in it. My husband is allergic to shell fish, and there's absolutely NO indicator on the menu that there's shrimp in the egg drop soup. So he did take one bite of it and thank God I found a shrimp in My soup within that same minute otherwise that could have been a disastrous afternoon lunch.
The rest of the food we ordered was extremely delicious the only complaint is the waitress seem to pushy like she was trying to get us fed and hurried out the door. We still left her a more than 20% tip. My husband did feel a strong tingling in his throat about 2 minutes after taking one bite of soup.

Went with a coworker after leaving the hospital. We're both from out of town so chose here off of Google reviews. Hands down some of the best wait staff experience I've ever had. Our waitress was extremely attentive, kind, and just had great conversations. She offered suggestions and even packaged our leftover food up for us before we left. Oh, and the food? It was delicious! Came out piping hot, great flavor, large portions. We left very generous tips and DEFINITELY plan to come back soon.

I haven't been here in almost 10 years. They were excellent then, and they still are! They reopened 3 months ago after closing for almost 18 months, due to covid. Struggling to find workers, they are working hard so that the patrons are well taken care of. Stop by and support this awesome small business!

Friendly staff and quick service. Had the Hot and Sour soup and Hunan Chicken. Both were very good and portions are generous. Hunan Chicken came with a large pot of rice and had plenty of vegetables as well as chicken; could have used more spice though. The gentlemen taking phone orders was very considerate and helpful, he will definitely make sure your order is correct. Recommend for good Chinese food.

I have ordered food from there many many times and it has always been satisfactory. But the service is another factor that they need to straighten out. I experienced rudeness which in turn made my food taste like rudeness. And I was told maybe it was a misunderstanding. Someone tell me how a person being rude to you is a misunderstanding. Well they just lost a faithful customer. See ya!

If you're feeling Chinese food, you should come here. Service was fast and friendly. We were seated right away and brought water and hot tea. Did not wait long before food was served (but we did dine at 4pm so off hours). The food was fantastic; full of flavor. Crab Rangoon isn't pictured but it was good, nice crispy shell with a balanced sweet and sour sauce.
I wouldn't eat the wasabi sauce that was also served though; super spicy and bitter, unless you're all about that. Orange chicken had a wonderful sweet glaze and the meat was tender. The mo-po tofu had an amazing sauce as well except a bit too heavy on salt. Overall, I came in with little expectation and was pleasantly surprised by the quality.

With a saddened heart and an empty wallet I am left disappointed. Me and my two beloved friends got take out from First Wok. We called and placed our order for 2 chicken fried rice, 1 vegetable fried rice, pork dumplings, and crab Rangoons. We were absolutely thrilled to find out that our order would be ready in just a short 15 minutes but soon realized that thrilled was the wrong word to use.
The correct word to use would be sad. First of all, our order cost a total of $54 and they did not bother to put prices on their menu nor tell us the total of our order over the phone. Second of all the pork dumplings were TRASH. NO BUENO. DO NOT ORDER. They were a waste of money. The rice was decent and not bad. Big portions, but nothing special.
Not worth the money. Lastly, I give this restaurant a 2/5 simply for their crab Rangoons. They were CHEFS KISS, YUM YUM, MMMMM. I recommend only getting the Rangoon if ordering from this place.

My boyfriend and I got takeout from here and we were both tremendously disappointed! I ordered the Hunan Combination and he got the Orange Chicken. We also got an order of Crab Cheese (their crab ragoons) which was the best part of the meal. My Hunan combination just lacked flavor overall. His Orange Chicken was incredibly dry, almost inedible (like when you reheat meat for too long in the microwave) and also lacked flavor.
The food was salvageable with some soy sauce and Sriracha but when you're paying $16-$18+ per entree it should taste better. I gave them two stars because the portions are big and we had enough for at least 2 meals of leftovers, which is a shame because it wasn't even very good the first time. We won't be getting takeout from them again.

Love this place, always have and always will! The owners are Sooo nice, treat you like family and the food is Always delicious, never disappoints! I always order the Mongolian Beef, Chicken Fried Rice, Beef Chop Suey and crag Rangoons, my go-to's. They even give you double the rangoons you ordered, so nice.

Just so you know. if you find a large piece of unidentified plastic in your chicken and vegetables and you send a picture of it to management via their email address, it is worth exactly USD13.00. Isn't that interesting? I guess I prefer a Chinese restaurant that actually values their quality control process. Any want to book foreign plastic objects for the new banquet or for the holidays? You get one free meal per foreign object in your meal.

November 2, 2018 lunch: I'm so bad at keeping up with reviews! I was scrolling through my phone pictures and came across these mouthwatering photos of my lunch at First Wok.3 months ago. I can't believe I didn't log this yet! I have no details. All I can say is that the lunch portion was enormous for the price. The service was so fast even though they were packed - even the bar stools were taken!
And the food was delicious! My sister's boyfriend's aunt serves here and she hooked us up with crab rangoons for an app. Yum! The only downside which I complain about all the time, were the egg rolls that came with our entrees. I don't like Chinese egg rolls and until I find a good Chinese egg roll, I'll keep complaining : I'll come again and write a more detailed review! In the meantime, enjoy the pictures!

Came in with a large group on Christmas Day. The place was PACKED! But we got a table for 11 quick enough. Though there were not a lot of open tables but they were slinging food and making quick work of seating an ordering. The menu is large and has lots to choose from. I went for the combination fried rice, a favorite of mine at Chinese Restaurants.
My wife ordered the Three Seafood Delight with steamed veggies. I also had a hot and sour soup to start. The soup was great, nice spice and good thick broth and nice assortment of mushrooms and tofu. I liked it quite a bit. The fried rice was not amazing, but the pork was really well cooked and the shrimp was nice a big. There was just not a lot of flavor and was overall just okay.
I asked for chili sauce and what I got was just oily and not spicy, hot, or flavorful at all. Very disappointing. My wife's food arrived late compared to everyone else's, but she said it was good, to be fair steamed veggies don't have much flavor but she had huge chunks of crab along with her other seafood which was nice to see. The service was decent considering how busy it was. Overall the food was just okay a few others commented about the same.

The food was beautiful and tasty. However, I was largely ignored by my server even though it was not busy. I don't know if it was because I was by myself and I was easy to miss? I was quite frustrated. Like I said. the food was good. I had sesame chicken which wasn't too sweet, steamed dumplings, and the best hot/sour soup I've ever had.

I am giving this place 3 stars. BUT my go-to here is phenomenal. I always get the Mongolian beef (not breaded) and the crab cheese and that is a 5/5. I used to have a sentimental attachment to this place being my mom took me here as a child but as the years go by I am swinging on my wrecking ball to mark my growth and independence (figuratively) and this place may be left with my childhood.
The eggrolls aren't good and neither is the fried rice. The hot n sour soup is VERY peppery and thick but I usually like it. A lot of the other traditional Chinese dishes are either overly breaded or way too saucy to enjoy. I only give 3 stars because the things I like from here are a diamond in the rough. To be honest, I would only recommend this restaurant for the dishes I get. You can find better. and cheaper Chinese food.
