I don't know where to start. So I'll make this shorter then what I would like. Server never told us his name. After 20 minutes of waiting (not extremely busy) I had to go get my own drink. Server was finally coming out with it at the same time and got mad that I got up and had a drink within 1 minute. Slammed it on our table and walked away. Finally got our food after almost an hour of waiting and it was awful.
Pretty sure the food had sat in the "window" awhile. My pick 2 turkey sandwich was almost inedible and little baked potato was wilted. Was so excited to go with our daughter, son In law and 2 grands.

We waited over 90 minutes for a table. I ordered the special corned beef and cabbage. The corned beef had no seasoning, very mundane. There was very little cabbage and the potatoes were very overcooked. Not good, I would not order this again. Service was very good. That is the only reason I gave 3 stars. Would have been 2 stars or less based on food.

This place has been a family favorite for years. It has always had a special place in my heart. We have had several meals here over the years. Its a very cool thing to remember being the child at a dinner setting. That you are now the adult at the same exact place. At an entirely different time in your life. So for that alone. We say Thank you and keep cooking the BEST FOOD in town and hiring the BEST EMPLOYEES. Now that we are in walking distance, looking forward to many more memorable meals.

I was greeted right away and taken to a table that accommodated my party. The waitress was very attentive. Anytime one of my party arrived. She would ask if they wanted anything to drink. The appetizers came quickly so he had plenty of time to have something to eat while we waited for our food. Our waitress waited the appropriate time to take our order and was not overbearing with refilling our water tea or asking if we wanted other drinks. The food was delicious.

This is one of those places that's kind of hit or miss, depending on what your order. The environment and atmosphere is a definitely a plus, though, and that coupled with the proximity to our house is definitely a draw. The outdoor patio has plenty of space and seating, and is always very lively. They always have a pretty good assortment of local craft beer, and their cocktails are pretty solid.
When it comes to the food, it's kind of run of the mill, for me. The fish stick appetizer, the chicken sandwiches, and the burgers are all worth trying, but I tend to stay away from everything else.

We visited Barleycorn's last night during the UK game for dinner and had a great experience. This is a good restaurant for families and groups with picky eaters since the menu is large and full of typical American food. We were seated quickly and our appetizers arrived quickly as well. We ordered wings dox style and they were great. We also ordered the queso with chips and pretzels and it was very good.
For dinner, I ordered the pepper jack burger. It was a little undercooked for medium well but was delicious anyway. The toppings were perfect. The fries were good but needed to be salted. My husband got the chicken bacon macaroni and cheese and it was so yummy. Definitely not something to order if you're counting calories but we hadn't eaten all day and it filled him up.
The kids meal was good too; the chicken fingers came with fresh fruit and fries. I didn't know we'd get charged another $2.50 for my son's chocolate milk, though. During the basketball game, the restaurant was quite loud, more like a sports bar. Our toddler was scared a couple of times by the noise/cheering, so you may take that into account when visiting. We still had great service despite how busy it was.

I went here with my daughter and grandson. All our food came out separately. Fish taco lacked any flavor but I tolerated. My daughters food came out wrong and had to be sent back. The only thing that was a good experience was the drink menu but even that was lacking because I never received my requested 2nd drink. This place is on my ban list.

$8.50 for 4 potato skins as an appetizer is insane. This is a bar and grill not an upscale restaurant. This place keeps changing their menu and pricing and before you know it they'll be out of business from driving all their customers away from being money hungry. The GM was polite and empathetic but it's just not the Barleycorn's it used to be. They had just changed their menu on the 16th (is what I was told) which included the price increase.

It's Monday night, the place was not crowded at all, we were seated right away, asked what we want to drink, and served within a matter of minutes. I really like our server Julie, she's very personable, polite and outgoing. She gave us a minute to get our main order, I ordered toga chips for starters. Keep in mind the restaurant has happy hour specials $1.50 off appetizers until 6 pm.
The tower of toga chips was delicious- it's saratoga chips smothered with bbq sauce topped with cheese. For entree, I ordered Fish Tacos- it tasted delicious! It's different because it comes with a pineapple-corn salsa, but my tastes buds like the different taste combo. I definitely recommend trying it. The food rating and place ambiance is 5/5, but I have to rate my margarita 4/5.
I ordered the classic margarita to pair with my tacos, I was excited but a little disappointed because it's way to sour, and I cannot even taste the alcohol, with the price I paid I am thinking of having at least a little bit of alcohol with my cocktail. My rate for this place is based on my personal experience.

The best time to go is later at night when the food is made fresh and it's not busy. Full bar, pub type food, and relaxed atmosphere for family or friends. I go a couple times a month for the doc style, double fried chicken wings with bourbon bbq sauce. Also, one of the few places that has KY bourbon barrel beer on tap. We always have a different server when we go but everyone is usually accommodating and friendly.

Typically my favorite thing to get at Barleycorn's is boring but at the same time unique. I like to get their chicken tenders because my favorite thing is their BBQ sauce! They have a nice variety on their menu but it's hard to stray from the norm because I just love the sauce. That said, i did recently try an interesting combination they have which is the white chicken chili flatbread. Somehow they make it work and it's a best of both worlds kind of thing.

Good, friendly, locally owned. Where everybody knows your name. Not the cheapest though. Beer can be expensive but a good expanded selection featuring local crafts. Food is average bar food. Now for their specialty.the wings. Barleycorn's has the best in town. Hands down. If you want heat they can do it. They are here to please too. One of the only places that will fix your wings "Daytona Style" which are grilled after going through the regular wing process.
Not on the menu mind you. While other local pubs will tell you "no" to this (and for the life of me besides trying to piss off your customers i have no earthly idea why you would refuse to do this) BC is happy to make you happy.

I can't speak for the food here since I never was waited on. The inside dining area is pretty much one large room. I was seated at a booth and every bit of 10 minutes went by without me seeing one waitress anywhere in the dining room. After the 10 minutes passed, a waitress walked past me and I tried to get her attention to ask about getting served.
She looked at me but didn't even slow down to hear my question. A short time later, a couple was seated in a booth next to where I was. After 5 more minutes, a waitress approached and began taking their order. I got up and left. The food may be good here, I don't know. I guess if you want a review of the food, speak to the couple at the booth.

Friendly people and a nice outdoor area. Union/Florence is lacking in outdoor seating options so it's nice that Barleycorn's has this. However not impressed with the food. Had a buffalo chicken wrap and the chicken was cold and there was no buffalo sauce or spice to it at all. Also no cheese on it, just some chicken, lettuce, and tomato in a wrap. The fries were good but also a little cold. Maybe this was because we went during a busy time but overall the food was not impressive.

Considering I grew up in Northern Kentucky, I have fond memories of going to Barleycorn's when I was a kid. So I eagerly suggested getting take-out from this Barleycorn's location when I was visiting over the weekend, but I really wish I would have left Barleycorn's happily in my past. I ordered the Wildcat sandwich, which includes a crispy fried chicken patty in medium buffalo sauce, topped with mushrooms, cheddar cheese and bleu cheese dressing.
I ordered this sandwich without the cheddar cheese, though. And what I received was a chicken patty that seemed way over-processed. The consistency was very tough. It took some work to bite through it, and when I did the chicken would come apart not where I was biting down, if that makes any sense. It just seemed really unnatural. The buffalo sauce didn't have much of a taste to it, and the mushrooms were tiny and also not flavorful -- as if they had been sitting in a can for too long.
As you can imagine, I did not finish my sandwich. My boyfriend and his family were not as unimpressed with their meals as I was with mine, though the consensus was that Barleycorn's food isn't anything special. I doubt I will suggest going back.
