Came in on a Sunday night, open later than other Italian restaurants in the area. Very low-key ambience, loved how private it felt. Ordered the eggplant rollatini. The sauce was flavorful not watery. It was ricotta within it and melted mozzarella on top. The eggplant was perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth. I ordered it as my main dish since I wasn't very hungry and it was perfectly filling.
The Mediterranean Paloma was the best Paloma I've ever had. The grapefruit and tequila was perfectly balanced and was not sour. My friend had a glass of Malbec. The glass was huge so, it was a wealthy pour. They also had the pesto gnocchi which they loved. The serving is not very large. Overall, would come again.

I went for the first time this past Friday, ordered the Antipasto for 2, which mediocre, for my entre the porkchops. They were so0ooooo over seasoned with lemon and vinegar it was barely palatable. Literally, one of the worse plates I have ever been served, in addition, they serve you hot mashed potatoes and serve Ice Cold Rock Hard Butter. It took 10 minutes for the kitchen to bring me what they called "room temperature" butter, it was not and at this point the potatoes were actually room temerature. The waitress was a bit rude. Overall bad food, bad service.

My husband and I have been going to this restaurant since we moved to the village 20 years ago. It has been a couple of years since we last went but we were jonesing for their food last night so we went early, ensuring that we could snag a table. Our "go to" order is Greek salad (the BEST anywhere) and lasagna. We ended up taking an order of lasagna to go and ordered eggplant rollatini and veal parmigiana with our salad.
My husband declared it the best Italian food he had in his entire life and by far the best veal parmigiana (and he has ordered it practically every Italian restaurant we've gone to since I've known him). The eggplant was insanely delicious too. Oh yeah. and our waiter Rob was super friendly and helpful. We can't wait to eat our lasagna and leftovers for dinner tonight :)

I ordered from here for takeout for lunch one day. What I ordered was amazing. I had the gorgonzola salad with grilled shrimp and it was just perfect with the cheese and their house vinaigrette. It came with the side of bread. They advertise on their website that they have a lunch special and when I called up to order they did not at the time even tho it was online, I was a bit annoyed so I ordered as planned from the dinner menu.
It was definitely one of the best salads I had in a long time. I had to wait outside for my change outside for 5 minutes since they were not allowing anyone in. Would come back for that salad for sure.

Although this was my first visit to Sal D's, it certainly will not be my last. The service was excellent, the ambience was great and most of all, the food was prepared to perfection. The baked clams oregenata were the best I ever had, the fresh seafood salad with a light lemon vinaigrette was delicious and the chicken scarpiello was also outstanding. My compliments to the chef for a memorable evening at my new favorite restaurant.

During this pandemic and this horrible time we all had to go through, there were certain things you want to get back to normal, for me, it's eating at Sal D 's, I miss the great food, I miss all the great people! I miss getting treated like royalty every time I go there for dinner, I cannot wait to see all my friends there again, Lisa, Stacy, Barbara, Nick, Cody, everyone, cannot wait to see you all and have a great meal once more, love you guys!

Sal D's is the most underrated Italian place in Huntington. Been coming here for what seems like decades. It was my late mother's favorite restaurant period and she's been gone 10 years, so their wonderful food always reminds me of her. It was a tradition for my wife's family too, my father-in-law is a big fan so Sal D's is always a good choice for our family dinners. The specials are always great. Other classics that never disappoint: calamari arrabbiata, eggplant rollatini, chicken bisentino, sole francese.

My wife and I had a wonderful, social distancing meal tonight. Our waitress was great. After she told us the specials I asked her (I apologize for not remembering her name, Marge?) if I could make a couple of modifications. She said np and soon I had a delicious dish of seafood fra Diavlo. This is why Sal D's is one of our go to restaurant in Huntington

Sal D Al Fresco seating is a HIT! I hope they continue this tradition post covid! The food was really fantastic especially the shrimp francese. Huge portion of shrimp and the sauce was so delicious. Highly recommend the Montepulciano : La Quercia from Abruzzo! Don't bother with a glass get the bottle. You won't be disappointed.

In a quaint traditional Long Island town of Huntington where one would find an abundance of restaurants and retail stores resides Sal D's casual Italian Restaurant. Sal D's with an unassuming ambience welcomes you at the front door as if you are visiting friends at their home. They have a small full bar as you enter to the right and a dining room with traditional wood chairs and tables that can be a noisy when crowded. Sal D's serves traditional Italian dishes with menu specials on most occasions.
One could also find on the menu various bar pies such as thin crusted Margarita pizza and zuppa di clams which I will order on my next visit. With the waitress recommendation, I ordered the bronzino in a piccata sauce with artichokes that was not on their menu. The dish was wonderful and I was very appreciative that they accommodated me with a special meal request.
Our party also order the artichoke & burrata as an appetizer long with glasses of wine. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate layer cake along with coffee and we relaxed for a while without being rushed. Overall for my first visit to Sal D's, I found our dining experience quite pleasurable

We picked up dinner on Friday night for the 2nd time this month. The first time was SO much better! The 2nd time was less than mediocre for me but okay for the BF. I ordered Zuppe de pesce from Mike who answered the phone. He was very nice. I told him gluten free thinking they might add a piece of bread. I called back and got a very cranky woman and reminded her to please make sure it's gluten free.
I think she heard me wrong and changed my order to gluten free pasta with seafood. I ordered shrimp scampi pasta for BF and he liked it, hence the 3 stars instead of 2 Their gluten free pasta is sticky and gummy and they forgot to add extra marinara as requested. Too many calamari rings and not enough seafood. I had a few bites of leftover pasta last night then threw the rest in the trash. Very disappointing!

Walked in on the Friday night before Valentine's Day and was expecting a wait but was nicely surprised that there was none. The waitress seemed a little overworked but pleasant enough. We started w the stuffed artichoke and I have to say it was the best one I've ever eaten at a restaurant. I loved it! So we went on to a pizza with onions which was awesome too!
This is where the review gets wonky. We ordered the seafood risotto which I didn't really care for. It was on the bland side and they did not use the right kind of rice for risotto. It was just your regular white rice which was over cooked and not too yummy. So just then, the waitress from the table behind me dumps a glass of red wine on my coat, pants and my cellphone!
Total pandemonium! No not total but my coat was a light color and then it was red! So they offer to bring it to the dry cleaners the next day and comped 1/2 of our meal. Cool beans but my coat is going to take 2 weeks to get cleaned! Boo Hoo! Next time, no risotto, no red wine.
