Big Al's Smoke House Barbecue

After my 5-star visit in March (see picture below), visited again in June. This time not so great. Brisket sliced with- instead of across the fiber. Sausage and ribs dry. Broke down soft serve ice cream machine, just as I arrived (and dropped my $25 on a self serve meal). Inconsistent at best. Will not be back.

This place was super amazing! I went in there looking for something called loaded macaroni and cheese. They did not have it, however they let me buy the separates that I needed to make it myself. And even gave me an extra container to do it with. I bought 11 oz of mac and cheese, half a pound of chopped beef with extra chives and shredded cheese. I got an extra thing of barbecue sauce to drape over it.

When I tell you this was an amazing eating experience. The chopped beef was so tender and the mac and cheese was made just right, in my opinion. I saw some reviews that said it was too salty. I didn't think so; could have been a little more cheesier. Just because that's the way I like my mac and cheese is with extra cheesy taste. Believe me! LOL satisfied my craving to the T.

I really appreciate good customer service like this. And I got all of that for under $20. Oh, one more thing, their peach cobbler is super amazing as well. I'm definitely going back!

I got thr meat lovers plate because i was hungry. It came with 5 types of meat pork rib, beef ribs, roast beef, turkey, sausage and a baked potato which was massive. The sauce was flavorful and pairs very well. Roll was meh but rest shined

Really enjoyed the food. That sauce is everything. Not overly sweet or overly vinegary like sauces I've found in the area.

I love a good BBQ place. It was my 1st time you can smell the flavors outside before you even walk in. Staff is great food delicious and yummy. inside has a lot of memorabilia

Stumbled across this establishment on my way home and decided to stop by and check it out. It smelled awesome from the outside so now I'm really excited. So I thought I'd surprise the Fam some BBQ and proceeded to purchase the 6 people meal pack. I ordered the sausage, brisket and chicken breast. Sides were baked beans and mashed potatoes.

Also came with rolls. The sausage was great! The chicken breast was good and the brisket was just okay good. IMO the breast and brisket needed a lot more smoke time. The star of the show was the baked beans. Very smoky taste to them, nice and thick with chunks of meat. Very good! Would I go back? Yes but for the sausage and baked beans! Sorry, I didn't try the ribs and didn't have burnt ends.

I do not know who granny is in the back cooking sides and who papa smoking that meat, but I need them to come move in with me! Everything was perfect! The service was fast and sweet, the juicy chicken, the macaroni and cheese was everything I needed in life and they even have some bbq sauce that's warmed in a pot for you. They give you one slice of texas toast per meal but you need to get an extra slice.

The sweet tea ($2.50) wasn't too sweet and made a great Arnold Palmer. If you think you will not be that hungry, just treat yourself and get that 3 meat meal and take some home. That was my original thought, but i left with a spoon of corn and a little piece of chicken. The only thing I regret is not getting that peach cobbler but I will be back to right this wrong. We got one 3 meat meal, one 2 meat meal, 2 sodas and banana pudding and we spent right under $50 before tip, well worth it.

Passing through for the night on my move to east TX from Ca and this place was amazing. The food was fresh and has a great taste. Presentation on a delivery order was impressive. Highly recommend trying it. Thanks for a full belly

It was delicious as always. The beef ribs are the best with their barbecue sauce. Was sad they didn't have the pasta salad. Potato salad and coleslaw were great. Green beans were so good. Thank you.

Some of the worst bbq I have ever had. The brisket had no flavor. The green beans were bland and the deviled eggs were too sweet.

Ordered the single meat plate with brisket. Good portion of meat and comes with 2 sides. Food was good and flavorful. Although you won't have trouble finding a similar flavor in the area, the price is hard to beat for what you're getting.

I ordered food to pick up on super bowl Sunday. When my husband returned with the food, I discovered many items missing from our $700 order. They completely forgot the cold slaw, cucumber salad, and 2 gallons of barbecue beans, as well as ZERO BARBECUE SAUCE (for 20 pounds of meat). We immediately called and luckily someone answered (they were not open for business. food pick up only).

After speaking with the employee, he reconciled what was packed up for us and what I paid for. I sent my husband back to big Als to pick up the remaining items. We don't live close to the restaurant, so this was not exactly convenient to make a second trip. The employee we spoke to assured us he would get the missing items packed and ready for pick up.

I will admit, My husband didn't check the order after it was placed in the back of the SUV. When he got home, still no barbecue sauce and no barbecue beans. Very disappointed, as we have used them many times before for catering. Won't be using them again. The food that we did receive was delicious but I can't get over the errors made in packing up our order!

We came to Big Al's not knowing the great surprise would have, not only the food is Awesome! When we pull into the parking lot and saw 2 smokers. We knew right there this was the right place! When we walked inn the vibe was great, from the music that set the tone, very grove kind of music! Then the best part; The Service! Omg they welcome you so kind that immediately you feel home.

The food looked so great you name it; Ribeye, Ribs, Chorizo, chicken, and many sides to go tag alone. The owner or manager, not sure but this tall guy was truly happy to welcomes us happy to service and so proud of the food. He took time to come cleaning the tables and approached to us to make sure everything was ok. Great experience definitely will come back as many time as possible. You know what they said. So grateful they were open during this little ice storm. The food was absolutely amazing the ribs fall off the bone, the sausage melts in your mouth and the turkey is delightful. The sides were great as well especially the potato salad. Can't wait to dine in someday!

Well apart from the bald man cutting the meat being rude. I must say that this was a waste of money. 2 two meat plates for $40. Cream corn was hard. Most of the meat was dried out. I'd say it's comparable to Odoms BBQ in west Dallas. We will not being coming back.

This is TEXAS Bbq. Love this place, I was at my weekly appointments at parkland and I drive all the way from Fort Worth. I love treating myself to some Big Al's after, it's a great reward. The Dr Pepper is never flat (which is very important to BBQ) and the sides are great. I personally always just get the basic sandwich and fries. The fries on the other hand come out later, which is because they're so damn fresh man you are just so satisfied with the craft work of BBQ. I wish they had one closer in Fort Worth but this is DFW, baby. I'm proud that this establishment is here. Big Al's for the win. Texas, baby.

The baby back ribs were dry and the outside was about 30 seconds away from being classified as burnt. The baked beans had SO much sugar in them that they were almost inedible. The mac & cheese was fine, nothing to write home about though. There were no customers there. I think they should consider changing some things.

Food was really good, but I'll be making sure that my food is weighed going forward. I ordered 1/2 lb of brisket and 2 sausages. The guy didn't weigh the food, so I asked if he was going to and he gives me an, "are you serious" look. It was very awkward and uncomfortable, because he said it as if he was appalled that I inquired or that I had a lot of nerve to question him. It's also sold by the weight, so how can you not weigh the portions?

Another employee came over and said to the person assisting me, "I understand that you don't always weigh the food, but if they ask, you should". The person assisting me then takes the sausages off the plate and weighs them. Weight was.41 NOT.50, which would have been 1/2 a lb. That's not a small amount that he was shorting me?! He added more sausage and packs up the food, so I ask if he was going to weigh the brisket as well.

His response, "Oh, you want that weighed too?" REALLY? Of Course I do! You almost cheated me out of a WHOLE sausage that you're charging an arm and 2 legs for. Why wouldn't I want the brisket weighed?! He weighed the brisket and it was.54, so he looks at me with a smirk and says, "Well, I'm taking some off". Again, REALLY?! Take it off then PETTY TEDDY! That's the purpose of the scale. That's the second time I've felt what I perceived to be dishonesty and disingenuous behavior from that establishment.

I don't eat barbeque often and have only visited that location 3 times, but had that experience 2 of the 3 times. Might go back, but they will have to weigh my food. That's only fair, right?

It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great. I was looking for dinner to my hotel as my wife was out with the car. I was skeptical of a BBQ place that was open at 6 but they had beef ribs on the menu. Everything was a bit too salty and VERY dry even the brisket from the point. Maybe it might be better earlier in the day.

Before catching a flight home, I stopped in for a quick dinner. The staff are friendly and the food is hot plus extremely tasteful. I would highly recommend this location for delicious bbq.

First timer but not a last timer. I took one of my team members here for lunch today. He was a first timer as well. We both enjoyed our food very much and we were both ready for a nap afterwards. The place was clean and comfortable, and the staff was super nice. As you know, I know my BBQ, and the brisket was top notch. The fried okra and the bbq beans were both delicious.

I really enjoyed their sauce as well as their sweet tea. If you're looking for great Texas BBQ near the Dallas Love Field Airport, then bookmark Big Al's Smokehouse BBQ.

Great food. Has become very expensive and have had bigger portions at other barbecue restaurants. Not so sure at these prices I will be back.

I've lived down the street from from Big Al's for 33 years and have never visited until tonight. First impression when I walked in was the place is attractive and clean. The Latina woman chopping brisket was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The Latino man at the register was kind and thankful to all the customers. My brisket sandwich was full of meat and delicious.

I ordered a half order of onion rings well done and they came out perfect, my only drawback was the amount of coleslaw served. Felt I paid to much for such a small amount. Overall, the food was good.

I ordered a Togo. This was my first time trying this place and the presentation wasn't what I expected and I wasn't too find of their sauce. But the meat has a good flavor

GREAT! LOVED my experience there! I got the 5 meat plate with 2 sides and I got one word for it. DELICIOUS! Didn't even finish because there was so much food. My 2 sides were okra and mac&cheese which were also DELICIOUS! If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Customer service was great, it was clean and the music was banging. 10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Love me a good bbq sandwich and man did this one deliver! Chopped brisket sandwich was 10/10. And the mac and cheese was even better. Loved every bite. Definitely recommend.

You guys. Stopped here on a whim, driving back home to San Antonio. From the moment we approached the restaurant the employee was so nice, held the door open and showed us where to go. EVERYONE behind the counter was so nice and incredibly helpful. That was my first impression of the place. The servings were huge and the food was delicious. I will come back to this particular location, without a doubt.

Big Al's smokehouse is amazing! Mr iceberg came and asked us how was our meal and experience. It was amazing! He's kind and also very welcoming you can tell he is proud to work for such a great place! The atmosphere is great and food is so delicious. The customer service was great as well when you walk up to get your order taken. Don't drive by this smoke without stopping to take something home or to dine in! We love it and for sure will come back! In love!

Food was great! Love me some Texas brisket. Mac N Cheese was slightly overcooked but made up for it in taste. Choose to the airport and prices are good compared to the airport. Got the Meat 3 with brisket, turkey, and jalapeno sausage along with Mac N Cheese and BBQ beans.

Road trip with the fam and did a general search for some good Texan food. Best decision ever. Great service, reasonable price, amazing tasting food, good portions, etc. Definitely a go to spot. Ask for the fellow from my hometown, Chicago! Great guy!

Omg! The food was delicious! The brisket was awesome, but what really got me was the Mac and cheese! We we're in town just for a moment and decided to look up some bbq places to go to. We found Big Al's and decided to give it a chance. it's the best decision we ever made! We live 30 minutes away, but will definitely be going back!

Found out about this place last year through those food delivery apps. So I was looking forward to dining in there. Sadly it wasn't an enjoyable dining experience. Food was good just like when I order for delivery. I don't know if we came too late 7pm - they close at 8. Out of mac and cheese. No biggie got mashed potatoes. The lady just seemed annoyed. Based on other reviews it seems it's a recurring behavior.

Ice cream machine didn't work - so no ice cream. Asked for a to go box. Same lady point to the side where the condiments were. There was none. Sigh. It was like she/they were rushing us out - mind you there's four tables of people still eating at 7:45. Calm down. I probably won't dine here again and continue to order in the app. If I want this type of shit service I'd go to Dickey's.

Silly me. I've been driving by here for decades but never stopped. I finally stopped in and VERY glad I did! Due to the COVID world, I ordered online and did the curbside service. I ordered a sliced beef sandwich, BBQ beans and potato salad. Ordering was easy, quick and price was reasonable. I drove back to the work site to eat. It was hard to drive with the heavenly aroma coming out of the bag.

The BBQ sandwich was really good. Great smoke flavor, right amount of bark and not too spicy or bland. It was moist but not greasy. It needed only a touch of their sauce. Their sauce is sweet and tangy with just a touch of spice. This is good BBQ. The potato salad was full of wonderful flavors, not mushy and pretty good. The star of the meal was the BBQ beans.

Right amount of spice, meaty, well cooked and enough sweetness that made them addictive! A tip, get more beans as you'll want more! I'll have to try their sausage on my next visit as I hear it is really good!

I haven't been here in a few years I used to eat here all the time I'm not gonna throw them under the bus, but the last time I went what's not in the greatest experience. Make sure you have your mask when you go.the meat chopper was a little upset that we didn't have any mass he told us about four times. COME ON GUYS WHERE ARE YOUR MASKS. and with their new plexiglass wall he could not hear us and we cannot hear him.

He did give us a mask but it made the situation very uncomfortable. I felt like walking out and I'm sure he probably wanted us to leave also but I didn't want to push our way back through the line. If you would like us to wear mask in your establishment maybe might be a good idea to put some mask at the front door. Anyway I would not suggest getting the beef rib there any more not much meat on it and the brisket they gave me half of it was fatty and cold.

But the macaroni was pretty decent and the ice cream. I remember their old location right down the road had a drive-through and at lunch time there was always about I get 30 +people in line. Bye for ever Big Al

This place is my must pit stop on my way to the airport. Easy to find on Google maps and only five minutes away from the car rental center. Lots of free parking. Lively atmosphere with friendly staff. Must try their juicy brisket and delicious beef ribs.

First time here. It's average bbq, nothing to get excited about. It's fairly expensive considering the portions. The staff was nice and friendly. If I'm in the area, i might go again but will not drive out of my way for it.

BBQ junkie from Atlanta here: The only reason this joint got two stars was because it's clean; and the decor is good -- I liked the painted sprinkler riser! My brisket was from the flat cut, not the point cut, even though he had both there. It was bland and also barely had any smoke flavor; and it was dry; and the leftovers were even worse the next afternoon for lunch.

UPDATE: Just had Big Al's that was brought in for a lunch spread. Sliced brisket was awesome, burnt on the outside, pink layer next and moist tender meat. It was like crack, i went back for just one more piece three times. 5 Stars on the sliced brisket! The sides were poor quality, with a limited selection compared to other bbq places. The baked beans tasted like I was licking an ash tray, and the coleslaw has absolutely no flavor. Way over priced at $17.76 with tip. The ice cream machine was serving up half melted product. And, the place is old and dirty and smells like a porta potty. absolutely disgusting. I better stop writing or else I'm going to realize this should be a two star review.

Today I had the opportunity to visit Big Al's. It is worth the drive when in Dallas. My wife and I had their Meat Lovers Plate plus 1/2 pound of brisket. The brisket was tender and juicy also worth mention the beef rib was tender an full of flavor. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Ordered a FRIED Cajun Turkey for Thanksgiving. Turkey was not fried and had absolutely no Cajun. Heck, it had no seasoning whatsoever. After cutting it up and eating a few pieces, we threw it out the next day. Waste of money.
