Imagine yourself sipping a favorite wine, a stellar meal on the way as evening colors dash the sky. It's an ideal moment on the Larkspur patio. Melodies from a Baby Grand Piano simmer with the day's end breeze and pleasant conversation with a good friend, you think to yourself, this is the Good Life.

Very delicious restaurant! Went during the lunch time and the service was good and food came out in a timely manner. Nice ambiance and drinks were good as well- especially the Moscow mule. Only recommendation is that they should definitely give more romaine lettuce with the lettuce wrap appetizer. There only 3 pieces and we asked for more and were given 2 more. Definitely should come with 6 pieces but overall still was very tasty!

Service was incredibly slow and most of the staff was gathered at the back just talking with each other. The menu has an identity crisis. The prices are unreasonably high. For hums, a cob salad and cappuccino it was almost $40 with tip. The humus wasn't any better than store bought. The Cobb salad was swimming in dressing and the chicken was full of gristle and the red onions were so over powering that my lunch date could smell them across the table and it was stinging her eyes.
My poor date was stirring her cappuccino to cool it off and the cup spilled over which landed hot cappuccino in her lap. No one was around to help clean so I got up and found extra napkins and a rag myself. When the waitress finally came around and seen what happened she didn't even offer another cappuccino and the whole thing spilled out. It would have been nice given the high prices to at least bring another one or ask if she'd like to buy another one. We just boxed our food, paid and left. I did still left a 20% tip but it wasn't deserved.

I had their special today, a trout fillet in a lemon buerre blanc served with mushroom risotto. The fish was beautifully done, and the sauce was just gorgeous. The true star of the plate, in my opinion, was the risotto. The seasoning was amazing, and the rice and mushrooms were both cooked to perfection. If you've ever attempted a mushroom risotto, you know that it is very easy to overcook one or the other.
I rounded out lunch with a housemade tiramisu (hello, when have I EVER passed up tiramisu?) and considered myself very well-fed. My server, Daniella, was also the bartender. The trout was her recommendation, so she earned major points there. She was also on efficient and hospitable server, which earned her higher marks still! I strongly recommend this bistro for anyone in Old Town!

I'm in Wichita for just one night and staying at the lovely Hotel at Old Town (separate review). They recommended a few places and Larkspur was one of them. You also get a discount if you show them your hotel key. They should have a solid 4-5 stars! I read some of the reviews that are dragging down their rating and they were service-based.not fair!
For anyone that's been going out after severe lockdowns were lifted, you would know that it's been very difficult to get workers, especially in food service. Many are new and they are trying their best. Give them a well-deserved break when it comes to reviews! Give them five stars and then say what you think they should know in your comments.
Either way, for my experience, I had delicious food and perfect service! Attentive but not overbearing. They have some great wines to pick from (I'm from California) and their menu is varied without offering too much. I had their Metro salad with chicken and a side or risotto. Both were fabulous. Walking distance to the hotel. Perfect!

As a foodie, I find this gem in Wichita to be an exceptional restaurant. The service is professional and attentive. The menu is not too big, but has something for everyone. The attention to detail in the kitchen is fabulous. The food is spectacular. We had the Pistachio Chicken and the Pork Chops, two house special recipes that did not disappoint!
I've heard their steaks are amazing for this area. Our cocktails were well proportioned and delicious. The dinner bread was wonderful, even was the olive oil and black peppercorn dipping they served with it. I'm in olive oil, and finding "real" extra virgin at a restaurant, or a close grade, is challenging. Larkspur checks every box and then some. Highly recommend! The only downside, for real, is their portions are too big. They could have served us half of the dinner we ordered and it would have been plenty.

The metro salad is the most unique salad I've had. It's light, it's tasty and it's a flavor explosion. The salmon I added was perfectly cooked. It was crispy on the outside and so moist on the inside. Harrison had the pork tenderloin and it was heavenly! The service is OVER THE TOP good here. Everyone is so friendly, so happy and kind. The ambiance is really cool and has a "New York" vibe. A great lunch or dinner spot.

Don't waste your time. Aside from the pseudo fancy location and interior, the food and service was less than stellar and at the high prices they charge here, you would be better served eating elsewhere. We came in for lunch and it was dead. Only two tables with eaters sitting at them and yet we stood there like veal waiting to be seated. When the server finally considered us, we sat and looked over the menu. Interestingly enough the menu seems to have an identity crisis and was all over the place. Asian, American and who knows what not and you have a recipe for experience with many things but master of none.
My family stuck with old faithful American cuisine while I decided to try the lettuce wraps with the promise from the server that it was not at all spicy. She even brought me a sample of the sauce the meat is cooked in and it did not taste spicy at all. When I did get my meal however, I could not eat it. It was so over the top spicy and salty that it was inedible.
My family tried it as well and it was inedible. Don't know where the disconnect was in the order but clearly they added so much pepper flakes and salt that it ruined the entire dish. Also I would point out that so few lettuce leaves were presented with the dish that it was miserably inadequate for the amount of meat. The burger was so so, and not cooked as requested.
The fries were reminiscent of spangles fries with an unpleasant seasoning that ensured my clan was not going to eat them much as well. As for the Reuben, overcooked corned beef and not much of it with a lack luster Cole slaw made it less than stellar and a complete disappointment. I would add that we did order an appetizer of crab cakes, and like so many restaurants these days, they were mostly made of breading with indistinguishable crab that tasted like little more than canned.
The remoulade, flavorless. It was a disappointing beginning though we decided to stay and wait for the meal. Mistake! Look in an area where there is literally a restaurant on almost every block, try some where else and save your money. Or spend your money and get the feel of disappointment. Your pick.

We happened upon this place on a day trip to Wichita and I'm so glad we did! The food was beyond amazing. We got the calamari, garlic spinach and artichoke dip, crab cakes, and crispy chicken sandwich and were absolutely blown away. The prices were very good and we will definitely be back to try more on the next trip!

What a pleasant surprise! We were staying in town for work and wanted a nice end to the evening, and this was walking distance from the hotel. The entire service was exceptional! The wait staff was pleasant and on point. My partner had the scallops and I the Trout. Both were flavorful and moist with hints of the grill they were cooked on. We had a wonderful time.

When we asked Scott Lloyd from the Fairfield hotel for the Best Restaurant in Wichita, he told us The Larkspur, and he was absolutely right. The atmosphere was spectacular with classic jazz playing in the background. Our server "iddy bitty" was friendly and gave us top notch service that left us leaving with a big smile. Our "neighbors" at the next table were chatty and fun to hang around with and the FOOOOOOOD. absolutely some of the best I've eaten.
We had the melt-in-your-mouth Crab Cakes, Bread as good as a Home bakery in southern France, and the Salad! LoL. Even the salad was fantastic. The Chicken Lasagna had a "to die for" mixture of tastes, every bite was heaven. I had their Captains Hot Butterscotch drink - wow. We didn't have desert. next time lol In short, Larkspur is worth stopping overnight at Wichita!

The service was great and the food was delish! We chose the tai lettuce wraps for an appetizer. They were good but pretty spicy. The clam chowder and bread were great. Each of our meals were wonderful and we followed it up with the Tiramisu and the cheesecake. If you have to choose, pick the cheesecake! Delightful experience in downtown Wichita!

We didn't feel comfortable sitting inside due to the pandemic so the host quickly opened the patio and cleaned a table for us. He brought a portable heater over as well. The service was fantastic! The food was delicious. The grilled chicken pita and fries were very good as was the salmon fettuccini and the garden linguine.

We went here Tuesday night. My son and his girlfriend were in town and I hadn't seen him in almost 2 years. Although they were closing soon they made a superb effort to accommodate us. The waitress (Christine) was an absolute Angel. No one made us feel we were overstaying our welcome. The food was excellent and the drinks were very very good.
We have frequented this restaurant a few times which is why I wanted to take my son there for a special meal and they absolutely outdid themselves. There are not enough things I could say about the staff and I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for making my first meal with my son in two years so special. Thank you to everyone who had to work Tuesday night and cook an absolute blinding meal.

We're using the Larkspur for my brothers rehearsal dinner, and we have been SO pleased with the planning process for the banquet room. We really enjoyed sitting down and going through the menu and tasting the wines. Really, a very special experience that made us feel like we were getting what we paid for. Loved it! I encourage you to schedule a time to go in and meet with the manager, James, to talk through your options!

I wanted so bad for our experience to be great, sadly it was not. First it took over 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. Our waitress was not aware what beer was currently on rotation. Once sshe looked into it she had no clue what type of beer it was. Sorry we are beersnobs. Then we ordered and after 30 minutes of no food we asked our waitress who we had to go track down.
She apologized and said thekitchen was backed up and she did not know when our food would be ready. We then asked Unfortunately we had to be somewhere so we canceled our meals. Very sad that we could not eat and be finished in 2 hours.for more bread and she explained they ran out. It was only 7:30.

Seen this place a billion times and also heard it was delicious. But I just never had a big desire to try it until yesterday. Like one yelper said, the out side patio was inviting. But as far as the interior. Not so much. It kinda reminds you of an outdated Olive Garden. The booth at which we sat, was old. The leather was worn off the seat bench. And it was not inviting.
The menu was mediocre. So I went for a salmon fettuccine to spice things up. Which the pasta was a little on the tough side and it left an after taste. Like an under cooked pasta. 2nd, I get it, it's called salmon pasta, but man it was really fishy. Almost made me wonder if it was safe to eat. Because I did feel like throwing up later that night.
And Tums had to come to the rescue. But that wasn't enough. My friend ordered the smoke chicken lasagne. Once again, it was left to be undesirable. Even the bread that they gave out as complimentary was dense. And it was used to dip olive oil. Overall visit, I wasn't impressed. The decor was out date, the pleather seats were peeling, the ambience wasn't inviting. And the food. Well I came, I tasted, and not impressed.

The only thing that kept this place from 5 's this visit was my entre, pistachio chicken. It was kind of dry and bland but in the past we have always had excellent food here. Our server was amazing! She went out of her way to make sure our experience was a great one and to get us out the door to music theatre. The decor and atmosphere are beautiful. Highly recommend the calamari as an appetizer

From the street, I thought this place looked so charming! I was so hoping to give this place at least 4 stars. If the interior, service and food were as good as the cover, outlook was promising for this to be a regular spot for us. We came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with a large party of 9. First, I was a little disappointed at how underwhelming the inside looked.
The outdoor patio was just so inviting. I was expecting that same welcoming vibe on the inside. Instead, it felt like a big, cold room. Then, the service was really slow despite it being somewhat empty inside. We had a large party, but there was maybe two or three other small parties seated throughout the restaurant. Finally, I was really disappointed by how uninteresting the menu was. The lunch menu consisted of an in unexciting variety of salad, soups and sandwiches. I wanted this place to be more upscale and nostalgic than what it was.
