Named after a radio show that ran from the 1930's through the mid 50's, Let's Pretend opened in 1985. It quickly became well known for it's playful event designs and decor. Daniel Samson and Liane Mendez took over ownership in 2004. With their culinary backgrounds, they aspired to bring the food and service to the forefront along with the event design. They continue to be an integral part of the day to day business. From the daily kitchen prep, emails and phone calls, and being onsite for your event.

It takes a team of people to make a wedding day seamless and it is vital that all the details from the planning process are communicated and completed on the actual day. After all of our years of catering, we still consider it an honor to be chosen to help couples celebrate their wedding day. We realize that this is often their first time using a catering service and that the process is unfamiliar and at times overwhelming.
With all that there is to accomplish in the work day, stressing over how to cake care of feeding clients or co-workers should not be one of them. The beautiful and historic Grand Isle Lake House is ready to offer the ultimate Vermont experience. Built on the shores of Lake Champlain as a hotel in the late 1800's, it has been and continues to be, lovingly restored by Preservation Trust of Vermont. It now offers private accommodations for you and your guests.

The food at our wedding could not have been more perfect. Let's Pretend Catering is the best wedding food I have ever eaten, hands down. They were also amazing to work with. My husband and I had a wonderful tasting with them at their location in South Hero. All of our selections were perfectly executed on our wedding day. Their staff was delightful and attentive, even going so far as to bring my husband and I our own appetizer plates while we were taking photos during cocktail hour. I highly recommend Let's Pretend Catering for your wedding or event - I promise it will be the best decision you make!

Liane is INCREDIBLE! The whole team is incredible! We are so thankful to have had them cater our wedding. Liane went above and beyond. She helped me design our table layouts, went back and forth countless times until we found the perfect menu for the weekend, handled the order of all of our rentals, went for a site visit with me to design general decor and layout, and was just there for every single question I had.
She is such a masterful expert at what she does, we're so lucky we got to work with her! Onto the food-unreal. Everyone was talking about how delicious everything was. People went back for seconds and thirds and tried everything they laid out. Liane was so flexible with my vision for the food (we ended up doing carving stations with sides and salads at each).
I wanted creative food presentation and they. absolutely. delivered. I was blown away with how gorgeous everything looked-almost too beautiful to eat (almost;)) They collaborated with Lauri (the owner of our venue-The Barn at Boyden Farm) to orchestrate the flow of the day and everything went so smoothly, we couldn't have asked for anything more. Exceptional food, service and detail. My number One "go to" for my clients. Daniel has amazing taste, an eye for design and cares about every detail. There staff are well trained and focused. Liane was amazing. From our first tasting to the end of the wedding she was professional, caring and went above and beyond. The food was amazing and came out perfect. Liane set our tables and her staff was perfect down to the last detail, from making sure the bride and groom got food during cocktail hour to meeting our guests at the entrance. If you want your day to run flawless I would look no further then Let's Pretend!

My husband and I hired Let's Pretend to cater a holiday party at our home and they exceeded all of our expectations. We planned a menu of small bites and platters and Brandi's help in doing so was invaluable. Daniel and Lianne delivered the food which was all beautifully plated, with all necessary (and easy) serving a reheating instructions.
When our guests arrived we simply had to enjoy their company. Almost every guest reached out to us in the days following the party to let us know how amazing the food was. We can not wait to have another occasion to hire Let's Pretend in the future!

My wife and I used Let's Pretend Cateriing for our wedding a few weeks ago and we wanted to praise them for their great work (I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but they were so exceptional). Lianne and Daniel did an excellent job catering our wedding. All of our guests were very impressed with the food and service, and the compliments just keep rolling in.
From our first email exchange with Brandi during the winter through the day of the event in July, the staff at Let's Pretend were very communicative and professional. They helped us come up with a schedule for the day, and assisted us in putting up decorations and moving chairs and tables between the ceremony and dinner. This is really a full-service company.
Even though we had less than 30 guests, the staff treated us like we were having a huge gala for hundreds of people (we were even lucky enough to have both owners, Daniel and Lianne, on-site the day of our wedding). They were willing to come all the way from Vermont, taking a ferry with all of their supplies, to make our big day amazing. Thank you!
