Idk what I was expecting but certainly not this. I decided to try the calzone today and it was a huge disappointment. The only good part about it was the cheese and the bread. I haven't had a calzone in years and this was so tasteless, maybe it was the toppings I requested but looked like they were just thrown in. I expected a tasty and mouth watering meal, I was so dissatisfied.
My friend on the other side had pasta. Let me just it say tasted like the first time I made pasta. TASTELESS. my friend was expecting the pasta to be better than Olive Garden and it certainly was not. I'm sorry this was my second time returning after my last visit. And remember their appetizer bread being delicious that I had to come back. Probs never again for their Italian dishes, maybe their breakfast but certainly not Italian. On the pro the server was great and the service was great.

The Service: Wonderful service! Very attentive. They have been in business for over 20 or 30 years. Many local customers. The Food: Love their chopped salad! So many different ingredients. My favorites is the pine nuts which adds great texture. By the way, their homemade dressing is to die for! Just a little bit sweetness, I think it is honey mustard?
It is secret recipe. Their freshly baked bread is so good! I can't help to keep asking for more. The Parking: Parking at the back, they do validation. Street metered parking.

I am so happy this place still exists. I have many childhood memories of coming here getting the chopped salad and seafood pasta with red sauce. I am happy to see they have the same amazing Americanized Italian food. I had flashbacks when I recently went back. Metered parking is plenty on Ventura or on the side streets.

I've been wanting to go to this location for a long time. I didn't see it on a reality show. I heard they have amazing breakfast. All I know is there crust is made to perfection. So satisfied with the goats cheese and vegetables Pizza. All my favorite vegetables on it. Unfortunately the table bread was exquisite itself. Next time don't order carbs because the table comes with the Mouthwatering bread you can't pass up.

Meeting friends for informal lunch and conversation. Being COVID cautious, we will only eat outdoors so a heated patio is a must. Nicola's fit the bill. The patio is covered and has plastic sheeting walls on 2 sides but wide open next to our table. Perfect for what we wanted. The heater was over our table but was pretty ineffective. The lunch/dinner menu had many items in the $12 - $20 range with half portions available on the salads.
I went with the small Shrimp and Avocado pizza ($14). While the avocado was generous as a topping, the shrimp needed to be hunted down. Overall a good pizza though not outstanding. Nothing I would travel to come back for. The food quality was 3 star overall but the extra star was for the ambiance on the patio. Quiet and away from Ventura Blvd. Tables very nicely spaced. While I am not rushing back for the food, I will return to take advantage of the very nice patio dining.

Nicolas has never been great but it has been serviceable. Today was my last visit. I ordered the bowtie pesto. It was tasteless and soupy in an odd amount of liquid beneath the pasta. I sent it back and then ordered the lasagna. The lasagna was mostly sauce and while it was sort of hot on top it was lukewarm to cold in the middle. While the servers were not great I blame the kitchen in this situation and I will not be coming back again

The food was amazing. Light and full of flavours. The server's recommendations were spot on. We ordered vegetarian pasta and soup and both were tasty yet light. The tiramisu was the best we've had yet. We'll dine here again when we visit Woodland Hills in the future. This is must visit place for vegetarians who like Italian food and want to enjoy the flavours.

As unassuming a restaurant decor as you will ever see.you get the feeling that you stepped into the lobby of a brightly lit laundromat but with tables and chairs. No matter, the food offerings - across an impossibly wide array - are all so scrumptious you'll want to come back again to try something else.just to see if they can pull it off as expertly as the last thing you ordered. And, the thing is, THEY CAN!
Imagine eating your way around the menu from THAI PASTA to GARLIC MASHED POTATOES to STEAMED CLAMS to a perfect FLATIRON STEAK all the way back to hard core Italiano LINGUINI w/ MEATBALLS. First off, the "bread" that kicks off the meal is a steaming hot, outrageously delicious, doughy "slice-like" concoction basking in garlicky glory.of which I can knock off a basket in about 2 minutes flat.
From there, hit up a nice wine-by-the-glass or a frosty cold IPA. They've got a serviceable selection. I posted pictures in this review of our empty plates.because every time we go, that's how the plates end up looking, everything is so good. This time it was the BOWTIE PESTO, the W.C. VEGETARIAN PIZZA and the FETTUCCINI WITH SPICY SAUSAGE (that's "assuage" sideways for you anagram nuts).
And we mowed them all! Don't get me wrong, the ambiance/decor isn't horrible, it just doesn't lend itself to the lights out delicacies comin' outta Nicola's kitchen. So dress down relax and settle in, then let the food exploration party begin.

Really wonderful Italian food made with fresh ingredients and cooked to Order. Prices are reasonable. Not cheap not expensive. We ordered a take out dinner and loved the chicken piccata and salads. The pasta was fresh and perfect. Sauces are fresh and homemade. Would recommend over Italian chains or other Italian restaurants in the Woodland Hills area.

The manager was extremely rude. There was a 15% off coupon if you ordered online and we did call in. We asked the manager if she would be able to honor it and she wasn't able to. Rather than be sympathetic and saying "you know we aren't able to and here is why." she said order online then and then proceeded to hang up. It was extremely rude and she had no customer service to her.
We love this restaurant and ordered frequently, but after this we will be rethinking this. It is one thing to not be able to honor the code and sympathize with their client, but to be extremely rude and condescending is not okay. The owner should really talk with the manager about this.

Honestly i am pleased. I ordered takeout last week for my friend and I, we received the following: THE fettuccine with spicy sausage was absolutely incredible! Even asked for sauce on the side to dip my bread In yummmm it was so good THE giant meatball was amazing THE W.C special pizza: amazing the amount of hearty toppings on my pizza we both loved it.
Literally opened the box and said wowwww. The only topping that I wasn't crazy about was the meatball it was sort of strange. THE tiramisu was absolutely delicious it was creamy and very flavorful.

After patronizing Nicolas Kitchen for years, by dining in and taking out, I ordered a barbecue chop salad to go this evening. Upon arriving home we discovered they forgot to include the dressing. We do not live close by the restaurant, thus returning was out of the question. When attempting to eat the dry salad, I was shocked to discover the lettuce tasted old and wilty, like it had sat in a refrigerator all night.
There was nothing fresh about this food item. After a long days work, expecting a delicious meal, color me extremely disappointed. We will not be going back to Nicola's Kitchen.

Nicola's I love you. You have the best salads and the best dressing. I dislike covid and what it has done to all restaurants. So to complain about not being able to sit inside or being able to sit on the patio and not get service for about 15 mins.i left and decided to come back another time. Please be aware of your patrons.

We are so glad we stumbled upon this place on yelp. This is a cute restaurant kind of hidden away. But they do have patio and inside seating. Granted not a huge restaurant, but thats what makes it good. Its an intimate, chill vibe. The portions are also massive. I ordered a half St. Mel pasta and it was a pretty decent size for it being half. We also tried a full antipasto salad as an appetizer. Spectacular! Honestly this salad tasted like the the insides of a super good italian sandwich. Weird way to describe i know, but it was really filling and tasty.
My pasta was also super delicious and filling. The brocolli and chicken and mushrooms all mixed with a creamy tomato sauce. oh my. hit the spot. I would definitely return. You could either order on your phone, or they come by and take your order. The employees are friendly and welcoming. Also, one thing I notice about their food is it's not greasy fattening food. It feels like homemade, fresh food with clean ingredients. Give this place a shot

Here's some history for you. My family used to have a men's clothing store in the same location that Nicola's Kitchen now is located. I'm not sure it's still called the French Quarter any longer, but it was back then. Our family store was called Caesar Romero's Clothing. We closed this store and others sometime in the mid to late seventies if memory serves.
I can't quite remember since I was a kid at the time. As I recall, Nicola's Kitchen moved in somewhat soon after we closed our doors; that's how long they've been in the [French Quarter] quaint little shopping area. And, how long I've been coming here until I moved away from Woodland Hills ten years ago. But every time I visit my old stomping grounds, I make it a point to stop by one of the best Italian restaurants I know. Salads are my cup of tea as it were, so I remember all the enjoyable Italian salads we used to order, most of all the antipasto. Nicola's Kitchen is also where I was first introduced to tiramisu and have continued to be a fan of the fancy Italian dessert ever since.
I notice they now serve breakfast, which was not done back then. I came here the other day and had an omelet and thoroughly enjoyed it. RECOMMENDED: Highly SERVICE: Very Good PRICE: $$ COVID: Follows COVID-19 guidelines PARKING: As anywhere along Ventura Boulevard, difficult unless you're lucky enough to find a spot across the street on Ventura.

We live around the corner and had thought this was cute place that has pretty decent food. We last came in July and now it's December. They change the menu in the months in between. EVERYTHING has been marked up significantly! I ALWAYS get the chicken marsala with veggies and pasta. Description is the same from old menu to new. I ordered it again and didn't get any veggies.
When asked the waitress, she checked in with kitchen and did it was not like this any longer. Even though the menu said it does. My son ordered cheese ravioli with butter sauce. He got 7 cheese ravioli for $19! That's a bit ridiculous. Mark up from old menu went from 14.95 to 18! When we pointed the menu description to the waitress she told the owner.
The owner pawned us off by telling the waitress that it only comes with veggies or pasta. He said, "You can go tell them". We sat close enough to hear him pawn us off. Poor waitress wasn't comfortable in telling us, especially since it was not her mistake and she asked the kitchen. The waitress asked the owner to come and talk to us. Mind you he had been walking around greeting ever other table but us.
When he did come to us, in his short ways blamed the change of menu. Then blamed the waitress for not checking, then said there are a bunch of typos. As the owner, fix the typos. My husband and I were extremely irked at the pawning us off and bit talking to us himself. At that point we were done and just wanted to leave. They offered a dessert. I didn't want to bother as I was annoyed but my kids wanted something. It's sad, use to love coming.
Mark ups and this experiences has left a bad taste. Two star cuz the food is actually pretty decent. Management/owner. Not so great, unless you know him or look like him. We will probably just go else where. HOM. Topanga pizza kitchen.

This review is based on the breakfast only. I got the "Choose Your Own Pancake" in which you get to pick 3 toppings for 2 NICE sized pancakes. I finish my food 9 times out of 10 but I was unable to finish both of these. I choose Nutella, bananas, and milk chocolate chips for my toppings along with a side of applewood bacon. The pancakes were very well cooked.
I really don't have anything to complain about other than the fact that two of my pieces of bacon were over cooked, but that wasn't a big deal. The service and the food quality was what stood out at Nicola's Kitchen. I would love to visit again.

The Focaccia saved this place! We had a lot of sugar in the pesto sauce.extra sugar added to various sauces that it really shouldn't be into. the service took forever even though our waiter was great the food took so long to come out of the kitchen this place was packed! The coffee was very odd tasting.we had to send it back it looks great the menu looks great the food was so so and the service took forever even though our waitress was wonderful and the Focaccia garlic bread they give you free is probably better than even The Omelette I ordered!
