I grew up in a rural town in Southern Illinois. We never did much cooking in the kitchen. My dad taught me how to cook outside with wood. When I was a young kid, I would help my dad roll the charcoal grill into the driveway and slather up some pork steaks for dinner. I would stay close-at-hand with my spray bottle ready for any flare-ups which may occur.
Now back then, I didn't know the difference between grilling vs. smoking- I just knew that playing with knives and fire was kinda fun for any kid. Nor little did I know then, that small grill of pork steaks would eventually turn into over 300,000 pounds of barbecue per year!

Thanks to Chad. Raelynn, Wes & Vance for a totally wonderful dinner. Our first visit and it was suggested that we try the Sampler plate to get a little taste of everything. WOW did we get more than we expected. Food was great and there was so much of it. I thoroughly enjoyed the ribs and brisket while my wife loved the turkey and sausage. Everyone there made this the perfect first visit!

Delicious BBQ, homemade sides, and fantastic attitudes make Cackle & Oink our favorite pork BBQ restaurant. Give yourself permission to enjoy a superb family-owned, award-winning restaurant. While you are there, look for Chad, who prepares the meat. He looks like Bradley Cooper! He humbly admitted that people have stopped him before and asked for his autograph.

Somebody lied and owes me $20 I must have come on the wrong day or something. The brisket was BLAND (NO seasoning) the ribs didn't have a smokey taste or smell. The sweet sauce is too sweet and the hot bbq sauce wasn't spicy at all. I'm not sure if that is the best BBQ in Sherman vs the state of Texas lone enough the COUNTRY. ONE thing I can say for sure is the employees were very nice people. I don't know if someone got paid under the table or what but I don't how in the world it's ranked #1 in the country. I don't get it

I came here with my friend Cecil, on a busy Sunday afternoon. Cecil recently had a scary brush with death and we wanted to celebrate his miraculous recovery with some good BBQ. Most of the places in the area were closed, so we headed for Cackle & Oink. It was a great decision! Now that Cecil is able to eat solid food, he enjoyed the Black & Tan sandwich (brisket, pulled pork and Swiss cheese).
He said it was amazing, a great first BBQ meal since the horrific "accident". I enjoyed the brisket sandwich immensely and definitely recommend their brisket to anyone. Our server, VANCE, was wonderful; he's very attentive and super friendly. He seemed vaguely familiar, Cecil swears he's seen him before, we just can't place it yet. It will come to him though. VANCE is a lot of fun and very friendly, so come see him and eat some great BBQ!

I love this place the people are amazing the pulled pork is always on point. I get so excited when I get to come to town cause I always stop by and get lunch and dinner always got to take some home with me. If I could give 6 stars, I would definitely give Cackle & Oink all six! Great barbeque and even better service! Shelcey helped us with our order selection (with great suggestions) and checked on us while we were eating to make sure we were ok. Her customer service was and is OUTSTANDING! We will definitely come back! Thanks Shelcey for making our experience AWESOME!

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! Cackle and Oink barbecue raises the bar on barbecue in North Texas. Their pork ribs some of the best you will ever eat - spicy and crisp on the outside while tender and moist on the inside. The brisket is always lovingly prepared on the hardwood smoker then flavored with their signature tangy-sweet sauce. The sides are excellent quality and portioned generously. Be sure to try the black-eye peas cooked in a true Southern fashion.

A must when you're coming into Texas! The brisket was perfect: nice bark on the outside, moist and pulled apart with ease! Potato salad is everything I expect of a mustard potato salad and to top it all off, Vance was awesome! He was friendly and made sure everything was to my liking. I asked them to hold the peach cobbler until after I finish my meal and he came out with it as I was taking my last bite! Talk about attentive! Great food and great service!

Stopped in at this little place on our way back to Dallas. The service was excellent. The food was piping hot. Good prices for all that we got, 8 ribs, 2 jalapeno sausages, corn spread and green beans all for $25. We even got a little taste of the blackeyed peas! Recommended for all you road trippers.

Delicious pecan cobblerish pie. Pulled pork was plentiful, the bbq beans do not have meat in them.very good flavor! Slaw is sweet & creamy. My favorite is the Mississippi mud potatoes! Fast service. Clean & busy restaurant. I will definitely go back. Decor is cool with many impressive trophies from winning bbq competitions. Also added to go order pictures. Yummy!

An exceptional place for great food and great service. Family owned and award winning it's easy to see why it's so great. Food was fresh prepared and excellent quality. All the meats were smoked to perfection and sides were very flavorful. Service was like being at a friend's house. Reasonable prices and a drive thru too. Get there early cause it fills up. Small areas to sit. Ample off street parking.

Best hole in the wall on the edge of Texas! I'm really particular about brisket just because I've had some of the best but this is pretty good! What I enjoyed were the sides! They have 3 types of beans chilli! The cowboy beans hit the spot and the green beans! My husband loved the pulled pork sandwich and I loved the 3 types of bbq sauce they offer! If you want bbq this is a great place to go!
