This was a horrible experience today. I was standing at the counter to order a piece of cake. One lady cut in front of me and the cashier didnt correct the issue, so I waited patiently for my turn anyway. Normally I would just leave out and go elsewhere but it I wanted to cheer up a co-worker so I stayed put. Three ppl got their orders before I even got noticed.

After about 10 minutes I asked for a refund and the cashier said "its actually ready I just have to scoop your ice cream." Thats pretty pathetic and unprofessional. I won't be back but I'm sure they don't care either way.

It has been 20 years since I have been here, but my trip here today was great and just like old times. Some might say it is pricy, but fresh fruit and big portions abound here and worth it to me. Everything was fresh and delicious and a good walk down memory lane. Also the carrot cake was on point. Worth a trip from Michigan.

I absolutely love this place. I've been coming here regularly for several months now. I wish I had found it sooner. I've tried several menu items and they have all been great. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The mixed drinks are amazing. The old fashioned is one of the best I've ever had. Also Tanya the bartender is the best!

We went there for the first time today, with high hopes. We've wanted to visit this place for a while now, and were excited to finally get the chance to do so. We arrived, cashier was friendly, other lady cleaning tables was amazing. we sat after getting our drinks and waited. and waited and waited and waited. the people who ordered after us got their food within 5 minutes.

We saw at least 6 more parties order and sit and still received their food before us. I had a 2 year old, who was hungry, and they kept passing us up. After more than 30 min of waiting for 3 sandwiches and soup, we decided to ask for our money back. the cashier said. Oh wait we have your kids food ready. really? Tooo late. and the man who had to approve the return completely ignored the cashier when she asked him for approval, he WALKED AWAY, because cleaning tables was more important. We love a good soup and sandwich, too bad this place possibly lost a regular customer.

For as long as this restaurant has been here and has been a huge part of Richmond, i am sad to say that this place is a whole different place than i'm used to. Im not sure if it's new owners or not, but why change something when it's not broken? This isn't a luxury restaurant and it's not meant to be, all has been and same great look and taste until recently. firing the workers who have been here forever and changing the whole entire look of the great place.

The food is not the same. i have loved my broccoli cheese for my whole life and it's not the same soup i used to love. this place is going down hill and it's not the same restaurant.

Sandy McGee's has been a favorite of mine since I was a small child. Their chicken salad sandwich got me hooked on chicken salad and remains close to the top of my list 30 years later. The atmosphere is warm and quaint in a small town way - a table by the window is the best way to enjoy a rainy afternoon. The only negatives I would say are that the food can tend to take quite a while to arrive at your table, and the prices are a bit high for cafe style food. I still come back time and time again for my chicken salad, broccoli cheese soup, and the memories.

A very charming place, friendly staff. There's also a haunted restaurant storyline attached to the place

Always good food and the staff works really hard to get through the line of people waiting to order. Portions are ample and the setting is casual, with a nice bar off to the side. If you're okay with sitting at the bar, you can skip the line!

Hubby and I split everything today. He picked up to go order on his way home. The Cuban(Cubano) is the burger of the month and it did not disappoint. The slow roasted pork was on point. Not many places get it right. It did come with a side and we opted for French fries.those were disappointing. Why, why do restaurants serve these so called "crispy fries"? They're no bueno.

We ordered a bowl of chicken tortilla soup. Delicious but size was more of a cup. Also ordered the large fruit salad which is served with their house poppyseed dressing. And for dessert we ordered the Mexican fudge cake. Yummo!

I've heard about this place for years and never got a chance to try it. My boyfriend and I went there for lunch to try something different than the regular fast food. I got the half croissant with chicken salad, fruit salad and cup of cheddar broccoli soup. It was amazing. I had to bring my salad home because I was stuffed. My boyfriend had the turkey club on a croissant with the cup of broccoli cheddar soup. We definitely enjoyed it and will be back. Forgot to take a picture of my food. It was plated beautifully as well.

First time here. The chicken salad sandwich was really good. It was really big. I ate half and took the other half home. My boyfriend ordered a poboy with a side of broccoli cheese soup. He also didn't finish it and took half home. The spinach artichoke dip was really good. I loved the croutons they give you.

First time visiting Sandy McGee's. I had the broccoli soup which was very good. It does not have large chunks of broccoli but the flavor is in there. It's creamy like a velvet soup. The chicken salad is very good and my husband enjoyed the cheesesteak. Tanya was our server and she was extremely kind, attentive, and very helpful. Will Be returning.

This is a classic restaurant for sandwiches, salads, burgers, soups. They do not disappoint. Their broccoli cheese soup is out of this world. Love the garlic toasts as a table treat! Chicken salad is a winner and dont even talk to me about the fruit on the side. This is too good! The fruit is super fresh and the poppy seed dressing a winner and I love that they add banana to it as well.

I would like to try other items but just cant get past what I just told you about. Husband loves the burgers and beef dip sandwich. This place will not disappoint. Very organized and very good service.

This place is incredible. Hands down the best broccoli cheese soup I have ever had! The service is top notch! My family and I visited from Oklahoma and were so happy we stopped in here. My wife doesn't even like coconut cream pie and she ate about half of my pie. I got the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant, and it was amazing! There's not many places like this around anymore. We look forward to coming back when we're back in Houston.

I came here with high hopes eager to check out this hidden gem in Richmond, Texas. A blast from my past as it's been nearly 20 years from dining at this location. Years past the restaurant was small but very bright and inviting. The building was an old Pharmacy/ post office back in the day. You used to order at the soda fountain bar top and pick up your food. Now, it has turned into a bar n grill with darker tones and the feeling of being closed in.

I ordered the Duet which was a chicken salad sandwich on wheat bread and broccoli cheddar soup. I tried to order the famous pecan crusted pie but they were out at 15 minutes past noon. The food was good and I might come back to test the pie out at a later date. The only hang up is the staff seemed lost for what people ordered. The clerk at the front would assign your seat and the runners would come up to you asking if what they were holding was your food or what did you order. Overall grade for this location would be a "B-". They passed but could do better.

I absolutely love this place. It is a family owned restaurant in historic downtown Richmond. Owned and operated by a mother and son (Sandy and Payton McGee). This place has some wonderful deli items with some comfort food. Some of my favorite items include the City Secretary (chicken salad), beef dip sub, and their specialty burgers. Any of these items can be served with fresh fruit and their famous broccoli and cheese soup!

The bar has some wonderful specialty cocktails with my favorite being the barrel aged old fashion. Served with an ice ball, aged cherry and sun-dried orange slice. The cocktails are both creative and mixed to perfection. You can tell a lot of thought and hard work has gone into their menus and they execute them flawlessly.

A friend introduced me to this great restaurant - I was eager to bring my husband - I knew he would love it. The quality of the meat in their half pound hamburgers is a joy for a carnivore like myself. The side dishes are excellent and large servings. My friend's friends only order the chicken salad - which is quite popular - half of the people in the restaurant seemed to have ordered the chicken salad. This place is NOT just about the chicken salad. I am eager to go back and have the shrimp - I have it on good authority (Sandy stopped by our table) that I will love it!

Great place in old town Richmond. My wife and I have eaten every sandwich and salad on the menu over the last couple of years. Had lunch there today with an associate Pastor from my church. They have removed some tables, spread out the rest and clean them as soon as people leave. The staff all wear masks as do the customers until you get to your, assigned, table. We were there an hour and a half and I saw nothing that wasn't done correctly. Service was first class, and the prices were very reasonable for this area.

We stopped by this local restaurant because my mother worked at the original restaurant as a teenager. You order up front and then sit and wait for your food. There is complementary crunchy bread. The staff is very attentive and made sure that we didn't need any refills and that all of our food was good. They also wore their masks correctly. I ordered the Duet Combo: garden salad with cilantro dressing and 1/2 6th Street Sandwich with no meat. I really liked the salad and the dressing, and the sandwich was okay. I would recommend this restaurant for lunch if you are in the area.

Very good. I enjoyed my lunch at Sandy McGee's. Counter service and they deliver to your table. I love the building and rustic interior. It's got that old time feel without feeling dirty or in disrepair. I ordered the Cancun salad with grilled shrimp. It was very good but said it didn't come with cheese but it had cheese on it when delivered.

I was fine with it, but it was a little strange. I did like that the dressing was on the side automatically and you could dress it as much or as little as you want. The salad was good and the shrimp were tasty. My friend ordered the chicken salad on a croissant. Since I had heard so much about the chicken salad, we talked about it. She said it was pretty boring.

It needed something more than mayo in it. She would have liked something else -- raisins, grapes, apples, celery, nuts. really anything to make it a little more interesting and flavorful. Overall, the place is cute, the COVID precautions were good, the food was good and I would like to try something different on the menu to see if other items were a little more flavorful.

Sandy McGee's has hit it out of the park! When I lived in the Richmond Area, Sandy's was my go-to lunch spot. They have the best Broccoli Cheese Soup and Chicken Salad! I now live in the Dallas Area and I was able to have my mom bring my favorites all the way up here to Dallas for my baby shower. The ordering was easy and they packed everything so nicely for the 4 1/2 hour drive up here. I am so happy we were able to make it happen! I can't wait to come back and dine in soon!
