Alfonso's Family Trattoria & Gourmet Pizzeria has been a Somerville tradition for over 40 years, serving a loyal customer base. Alfonso's first opened its doors in 1978. It was founded by Aniello Ianniello, who immigrated from Naples Italy to Brooklyn, NY in 1954.

He bought along with him his passion for good food and wine. He opened his first pizzeria called Pizza Center on the corner of Avenue J and East 13th Street in Brooklyn and sold pizza for 10 cents a slice.

Banquet Room 30+ persons Report

Located upstairs on our second floor, Alfonso's Banquet Room can accommodate up to eighty persons. It is perfect for small functions, such as business luncheons and events as well as special occasions such as bridal showers, 1st communions, sweet sixteens, and birthday parties. We offer five diverse buffet packages but would be happy to customize any menu to your specific needs.

La Galleria 12 - 26 persons Report

The Galleria banquet room is a small private dining room dedicated to family style dining. It is located on the first floor on the bar side of the dining room. The Galleria is ideal for smaller functions seating up to 26 persons. A minimum of 12 persons is required in order to reserve the Galleria.

I grew up coming here as a kid. Knew the family and the chefs. I've been bringing my own family for years but my latest visit needs some improvement. There was a lot of wait time from the moment we entered to being greeted and served, as well as in between. The waitresses were uncongenial and they never brought out my second drink. Far different service than all my previous visits.

Dark and dingy.maybe that's an Italian atmosphere, but I wish I had left. The food was ok. But way too expensive for dinner. However, the waitress did the best she could and i commend her. I will never return to the dark interior seating. (And it was a bright and sunny afternoon outside)

Great lunch deals, portion sizes and gluten free options. Outside dining tables (8+) under the trees makes the experience ever more pleasant. Clean restaurant and restrooms too with pleasant staff.

Love Alfonso's. We were a party of 7. Our table was ready at our reservation time. The place was packed inside and out. Graduation night, antique car night, beautiful night, masses of people. The service was excellent, food perfect, excellent night for the family.

Great pizza and Italian fare. I always get the upside down grandma but their normal pies are good too. Wife loves their white pizzas, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Usually stop by here every other week. If you're looking for good affordable Italian in Somerville Alfonso's is the place to go!

We went in for lunch today. Had the shrimp and scallop scampi over linguine. Fantastico! Our server was Joe and he was a friendly and personable. It was a great lunch, food and staff top notch.

Great pizza and great service! Their pizza has many toppings and a great crust. Everyone in my party had a personal pizza. I had the penne vodka. Portions were large, it was tasty, but it was nothing special and I would probably get pizza next time I go. It's casual and comfy, perfect for families. They also have a bar that makes some good drinks.

The food was SO GOOD. the four of us ate so much food, we were completely stuffed! the buffalo calamari was good, the sauce was so good, although the calamari lost their crispiness. the margarita pizza was stellar and so were the pasta dishes! definitely recommend dropping in!

Alfonso's is a great place for dinner for a casual date night and big groups party. Wide variety of Italian food and American food. Pizza is a must try we had veggie pizza which was loaded : and eat it while it's hot. Great table service quick and polite. We would have loved getting the breads as complimentary as we waited long for our pizza to arrive and even our server was surprised why it's taking too long.

Meatball "sundae" is a joke. One tiny meatball in bland sauce for $7?!? Taste like a frozen store-bought meatball thats been blowtorched. (strong burnt propane flavor) Pasta was dry. Penne vodka is just ok. Not a lot of sauce and undercooked penne. $2 extra for this "Cesar" salad upgrade? A side of dressing and a plain lettuce is not a cesar salad.
