I can't say enough great things about Southern Exposure, owners Ken & Jennifer Hendrickson, and wedding coordinator Dakota Whitlock. We were able to enjoy our wedding without worrying about anything. Planning a wedding takes a lot of time, effort, and coordination, and the team at Southern Exposure made it happen. Both owners Ken and Jennifer are truly wonderful people, who work hard to make everything happen. Dakota is a brilliant and personable wedding planner who who took our ideas and made them a reality, even down to the smallest details. We are more than happy with Southern Exposure, and would recommend them every time to any persons wondering where they should get married.

What an absolutely gorgeous venue! Perfect for a wedding. Hidden gardens open up from wooded and covered farm. Repurposed farm building make for a delightful place e ro meander.the food; filet minion, cheese potatoes, steamed beans and lots of diverse hors D'ourvers, where great, too. The owner and staff were equally amazing, attentive, supportive.

This place is a little piece of garden of Eden. The grounds are gorgeous, the buildings are quaint, the service is excellent and the food is amazing. Southern Exposure was bought by new owners a couple years ago, and they recently got a new chef and event coordinator. I just hosted a bridal shower there and it was perfect. The new owners have done an awesome job taking over and Dakota the event planner made everything with the shower go seamlessly. I didn't have to do a thing. Everything was handled for me and it was beautiful. I can't rave about this special place enough.

Most beautiful place year round! The decor is always beautiful no matter what season it is. They have a small shop with some oddities. But the are knows for their classes they offer and weddings they host! The classes I have yet to attend but there is always something for everyone. It is our favorite place to have a unprofessional photo shoot! We take all our exchange students here for some breathtaking photos and to just enjoy the simple beauty here in Michigan. It matters not if there is snow covering the ground, autumn leaves or spring flowers this is always on our to do list!

I thought I drove into another world when I pulled into the driveway of Southern Exposure. Even though it was raining something fierce, the landscaping was unbelievable. I had hoped to come early to wander the gardens, but will be back on a sunny day. Our event was a private dinner with the Tasters Guild of Kalamazoo. We found our way down a lovely path to a beautiful building called the Milking Parlor with a huge covered patio where we enjoyed champagne and cheese & crackers.
We then moved inside to a lovely room set up for dining. Chef Scott Lobe presented an exquisite menu. Our dinner consisted of Corn Bisque, prepared with herb infused oil, roasted red pepper and a seared sea scallop on top. The Mixed Summer Salad was made with romaine and arugula with beets, goat cheese and herb-infused walnuts. The entree was a delicious Roast Duck Breast prepared with wine & cherry reduction served with potato leak puree & vegetable ratatouille.
And the grand finale (that I was patiently waiting for) was the out of this world Lavender Creme Brulee. This was my first visit to Southern Exposure, but I am already checking out their website and hope to attend some of their workshops. They also host travel adventures which sound wonderful.

Amazing, gorgeous working farm, event space, workshop space, and wedding venue. The owners and staff are all amazing, sweet people. I've taken several workshop classes making wreaths, flower pots, and more which are paired with a delicious meal and plenty of instruction. They also donate a portion of their proceeds to the local animal rescue. Love love love this place.

The staff is well trained, the grounds are immaculate and lovely, but they fell short on the food at a recent event. I am almost certain that the potatoes were not from scratch and less than impressive. The green beans were served crunchy, tasted raw. The beef was tender and tasty, the highlight of the meal. Creme brulee was quite good but served with a stale cookie. They have the right idea but need to step it up in the kitchen. It is pricey.

First of all, why are there not a lot of reviews for this place? They have been in business for more than a decade and there are only 2 reviews? Seriously, this is one of the highlights of living in or visiting Calhoun County. The gift shop down to the catered dinners down to the weddings are all top notch. This is a magnificently beautiful place to be.
I cannot understand why there are not more reviews. Food is excellent, better than you can expect from almost anywhere in the county. Service is unmatched and environment is like a fairytale.
