Nice little convenience store on south Portage road. They have a decent wine, liquor, and beer selection, as well as a few homemade deli items in their cases. Also available are a bit wider than normal selection of grocery item, placing the store somewhere between a convenience store and a grocer. Perfect place to pick a bottle of something up as you're coming in from the lake!

They really blew us away with the wow factpr customer service on our most recent visit. A friend in town from California had her heart set on making mulled wine, so we were seeking mullimg spices and desperately hoping to avoid a long drive to Meijer and the inevitable long search and long check-out line that we would've expected to find there on a holiday weekend.
My husband is a homebrewer and had excitedly noticed on our stop earluer in the week that Daane's carries wine and beer making supplies, so we thought it was worth a shot. The owner walked us over to the wine room, showed us the spiced cider spice mix, which she said wouldn't work because it's too sugary. He then noticed one of the meads in stock came with a complimentary pavk of mulling spices and he just gave it to her -- no charge.
Whenever we need to pick up a quick something from a local shop -- we will be coming here. They also offer the quirkiest array of services here: copy machine, public notary service, Western Union, a hot lunch station, large greeting card section, firewood and some lake toys and lanterns. Quirky but quality spot!

This place rocks. I have a lakeside home very close to here and have always respected the way this business embraces the local residents. Every once in awhile you'll find a "free ice cream" ping pong ball floating in the lake. Just one of the nice things they do. Daane's also involves and supports local groups like Pretty Lake Vacation Camp. And, well, the beer they sell is awesome.
Lots of exotic flavors that you won't find anywhere else. Homemade pies in the glass door fridge right when you walk in the door. Catering, party supplies, etc. they seem to have a little bit of everything. I've spent many a summer evening sitting on the bench in front of Daane's with my children and their friends after a short cruise over on the boat or on our bikes.
They set up the soft serve ice cream machine every summer and my kids challenge each other to see who can build the biggest ice cream from a small cone. Great business with great stuff, really nice folks, and lots of fun memories. I'm glad places like this exist.

Yeah it's a beer store but Daane's also claims to be the Party People and from the looks of it, they are well on their way. Inside you'll find huge wine selection, quite the liquor collection, and a handful of our domestic and local favorites (beer). Daane's also carries beer and wine making supplies although for the beer supplies, I hear Bell's is cheaper. I've always found what I came in for so Daane's is more then A-ok in my book.
As a matter of fact I've recently requested a beer, a Creme Brulee flavor, and I was told that they would do everything they could to locate and supply. High Five! I've also noticed that they have a small deli counter and a meat freezer where they sell local cuts. I've yet to partake but not counting that possibility out. I've also seen a soft serve ice cream machine, again, not sure if it's a figment of my imagination but maybe you'll have to find out for yourself?
