Hillbilly's Barbeque & Steaks

Menu looked great but food was just average. Sauces and hush puppies were great. Chopped brisket was dry, chicken fingers were average. Mac and cheese and collards were bland. Baked beans were good. Server was awesome and very friendly. Rest of staff didn't impress.

Overall just not a great value or experience compared to places like Mission BBQ. Service was very good, but atmosphere was a little too family-restaurant oriented and a little bright for my taste for dinner. BBQ for my son and I was good quality-wise but portions could have been bigger and would have preferred it a little more well-done. My son's sandwich bun was a little too plain for the end cost of our meal of about $38 after tip. Not sure why a "service fee" on the bill either.

It was okay. The only complaint we had was the lack of sound baffles in their new building, which seemed to amplify children yelling, dishes clattering, etc. We decided on Tylenol for dessert. Excellent French fries though. Top notch!

Food was ok. I ordered the ribeye, loaded baked potatoes, Mac n cheese and fried okra. I ordered pickup and all the food was on the cooler side. Order the steak medium and from the pictures you can tell it was cooked well done. I gave two stars because the overall flavor was ok

The restaurant was clean and open. The Waitress and host was very helpful and nice. I found the hush puppy was enjoyable. The Beef brisket wasn't the best It was dry with very little flavor. The beans make up for the brisket. This was my first time having BBQ in NC. So I'm not sure if this is how NC brisket should be.

I had not had Hillbilly's BBQ, since before 1999. We lived in Gastonia, and used to at the on closer to our house. I was shocked to find one near my dad's former job site. It was a blast to the past; tasted and smelled EXACTLY like I recall. Bought a bottle of original sauce to take back to the vinegar side of NC. Had no idea we had two styles, until we moved east. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Upon arriving, we walk up to the host station. Having never been in this restaurant we were not sure if we seated ourselves or just wait. A group of hostesses standing there and not one of them acknowledged us. Finally after a few minutes I asked if we seated ourselves or needed to wait to be seated. One girl said wait. I then said OK, we did not know since not one of you even greeted us.

After this little hiccup, I was pleasantly surprised by our wonderful, amazing, hard working waitress! She was fantastic! Our food was delicious! It came out hot, fresh, and correct. Definitely try the hamburgers! They are huge and have a fantastic flavor! We will definitely visit again!

Just ate here for the first time and the food was great and the waitress was very nice and very good at her good I can't wait to go back and they have a drink thru so you can call ahead and pick up your food

Great experience. The hostess and server were both super friendly and helpful and the food was delicious and came out quickly. The complimentary hush puppies helped keep our little one occupied and then everything that we ordered was delicious as well - especially the ribs and chicken fingers.

The foods was delicious the atmosphere was great and the server was outstanding. The owner greet us while we sitting on the rocky chairs and asked was everything was okay. We will without doubt go back again when we are in the area.
