Joseph's Italian Restaurant

We love Joseph's, mainly because it's walking distance for us and has a huge menu. Most of the time there's not a wait, but sometimes on a pretty day you might have to wait a few minutes. There's about 4 or 5 tables outside (dog friendly) and probably 15ish inside. There's also a small bar inside that is first come first serve.

The service can be good or bad, but they really are trying their hardest. The menu is awesome: pizza, pasta, flatbreads, sandwiches (hot & cold), calzones, salads, desserts. I LOVE the muffuletta sandwich (so hard to find around here), love the pepperoni & cheese stuffed roll, and love the buffalo chicken stuffed roll. All portions are huge and shareable. Would not order the calamari appetizer again as the squid is very rubbery. Pizza is great. Parking can be a pain in the butt so I recommend walking or biking if possible.

The staff was great! Greeted us like old friends. The salads were massive and loaded like they should be. The muffaletta was the star of the show. The bread was so soft yet firm and perfectly crispy. The olive spread was phenomenal and not chunky like others I've had that just fall out and the layering of meat and cheese was perfection. I'm going to be dreaming of this sandwich for years to come! My only feedback is the baklava cheesecake, which is such a unique idea and I love it, could benefit from a drizzle of honey but still it was delicious!

Finally found a restaurant that has a true Muffeletta sandwich. It was delicious. Their fries are really good. The antipasto salad was huge and filling. Great service in one of Jacksonville's historic restaurants. You can also get pizza by the slice which is a plus when you have multiple diners in your group.

Joseph's was highly recommended and it was spot on correct, if you are looking for a good (non chain) pizza place with a lot of local flavor. Our server was Chloe, she knew the menu and made some wonderful recommendations. I would recommend this if you are looking for a really good pizza place.

Not our typical Friday night Pizza night. Trying out Jacksonville's oldest pizzeria and an excellent Italian restaurant Update. My son had the kid's pizza. They gave him his toppings and crust and let him build it by his self. Then they took it back and baked it. Lucky him he has 6 months left to do this the kids menu cuts off at 12 years old. Overall great pizza and very filling.

We had a medium build yourself pizza. We were there I wanna say less than an hour and maybe 15 mins. Service was excellent. The place was busy but not loud at all. I didn't catch the hostess' name but the way she was of service had me thinking she was definitely a member of the family that runs it. Our waitress was very accommodating. She kept checking in on us making sure we were doing ok.

We also ordered dessert to go: a red velvet cake slice and my absolute favorite oatmeal cookies. Caleb reviewed as soon as we walked out. He prefers to order and pick up for next time my two toddlers are busy little people and not the easiest to eat out with We've been passing this place not far from our house and he's been begging me to try it. I'm so glad he loves it and got to experience it.

Joseph's is a family favorite. My girls especially love coming here. They enjoy the diy/make your own pizza kits for kids. My youngest always loads up on the cheese while my oldest adds pepperoni. The server brings out the kit to the table and the kids put their own sauce and toppings. Once they are ready, the server takes it back to put in the pizza oven.

My girls love to tell people that they know how to make pizza now. We also ordered the Joseph's special and sauteed mussels. The pizza has pretty much everything on it but doesn't feel heavy. The mussels were cooked perfectly and had lots of flavor. The sauce is great for dipping your pizza crust in. Love this family owned business and highly recommend. It's across the street from the beach too. Perfect if you like to take walks after eating.

Walked in on a Saturday night, got seated quickly. Very nice waitress took super good care of us & delicious food arrived quickly. Everything our party of 4 ordered was "over the top" good. The garlic knots, with alfredo sauce were the stars of the show! Oh, my! So good! Just a fun, delicious place to eat.

Completely bummed when we arrived as it appeared closed. Assumed it was due to Covid and staffing but decided to try again the next day. Thankfully, they were open and was told they were renovating some things which is why they were randomly closed. When we tried again we got great service and delish food. The pizza we ordered took 20min but it was so fresh and yummy.

I honestly don't know where they get there 4.6 review because all of the food we ordered was very disappointing. Everything was cold and bland. We asked for the wings to be extra crispy and they weren't even regular crispy like wings should be. The garlic knots was just bread with sprinkled garlic on it and no butter. The stuffed mushrooms, meatballs and sausage tasted like it was straight out of a can. We spent $100 and there was not one thing we enjoyed.

I start this review out with nibbling on my leftover pizza from yesterday evening. (No need for a reheat delicious cold) I have been to Joseph's times before moving to the Jax beach area. (2 years ago) I loved it then and it remains consistent now. My husband and I decided a beach day for my birthday yesterday and then i remember Joseph's was around the area and was slightly in the mood for pizza.

I then scrolled through Yelp to see the most transparent and friendly owner I have ever seen yet while viewing through Yelp. I saw her responses to everyone and her values and immediately I was in. So we ventured to Joseph's after the beach and sat outside with my dog. I saw that their dressings were handmade and wanted to try a side salad. I just winged it and went Italian.

Their salad comes paired with a piece of garlic bread, I enjoyed dipping it in my house made dressing. Very delicious and hit the spot after being in the sun. I also got a pepperoni slice and a ham and pineapple slice. So delicious. My husband likes ranch with his pizza (I usually do not) but there ranch is killer. I went back for multiple pizza dips in it to my surprise.

When I went to this location prior I had their Cajun Ranch wings and loved them so i stuck with pizza this time to try something new. Great establishment, great service, great location! I love the place and will be back multiple times. Thank you!

This was my first time here and this will not be the last time. They also have a location at the beach. My family and I got a large half and half pepperoni and cheese. I almost forgot to take a pic it was just that good! The service was awesome and very friendly. The restaurant was very clean. I also met the queen of the house mama Rose who was such a gem a true people person. The cheesecake was bomb! I mean if you want authentic Italian food give them a try!

Had about a cup of olive oil in my pasta so it was ok, pasta was cooked right. Spent over 100 dollars and have to say I miss how it use to be even the Joseph's pizza they're famous for is different not at all like I remember. One big plus was the male server we had was outstanding very nice so he's not confused with other servers he's the older gentleman who even held the door open for us as we left.

Had their Italian wedding soup and it was fantastic. Lasagna was equally as good! Gonna hav their pizza next time!

This is one of our favorite local pizza spots. The family/employees are all very friendly and attentive. My girls had after school activities today but we had time to kill so we stopped in for an after school snack/early dinner. The kids have the option to make their own pizzas. They tell them what toppings they'd like and the server brings it out on a platter with the crust, sauce, and cheese.

After the kids do their "work of art, " the server takes it back to be cooked. The pizza is always fresh and delicious and it's such a family friendly place. I was still full from an earlier Yelp event, so I just had a drink, but there are so many yummy food options for adults as well as happy hour deals. If you haven't tried them yet, go check them out! Love supporting local, family owned businesses! Oh and because. PiZZA! Mangiare!

My husband and I stopped off at this place while we were passing because we were hungry and wanted to check it out. It looks very questionable on the outside, but don't judge this book by it's cover! The food was amazing, had very unique tastes, was served very warm, and the portions are very large! The interior decorations are super cool and the service was incredible.

When we went, it seemed like they were understaffed, yet the waitresses were on top of it! They gave us our food as soon as it was ready and I didn't even have to ask for the check, she gave it to us at the perfect moment. The wait for our food was a little long, but not too ridiculous, and it was well worth it. We ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and Joseph's Stromboli.

The food is made from quality ingredients. Our favorite part was the bread! It looks like they make almost everything from scratch. Incredible experience! We will definitely be returning frequently from now on.

This place is awesome. Great food, great atmosphere, good people. You even get your own personal Nonna at your table. Rose is just the sweetest person in the world and you feel like you're at her home table. I'd give 5 stars, but. there's a heavy amount of what tastes like nutmeg in the marinara sauce. That's a huge nope for me. Just doesn't belong in my opinion. Next time we visit Jacksonville, we will be back.

One of the best pizza joints in town, hands down. Ordered a day in advance for a large lunch pickup for the work crew, to which they had it ready at the time requested! Had some guys that never had the buffalo chicken and were amazed at how good it is!

First visit here, will not be the last! Ordered a 12 pie and side salad. Both were fantastic! Pizza was cooked perfectly all the way through, and had plenty of toppings. The garlic bread was also top notch. Awesome food paired with a wonderful, friendly server made for an excellent dining experience. Will be back soon!

Overrated for several reasons 1) The quality of pizza is subpar / not good 2) No delivery options on popular online delivery apps 3) Poor customer service when you do call in and try to order for pick up/carry out. Not impressed and would not recommend.

This business makes a wonderful pizza, however, beware of your charges on your credit card. Twice we were charged for a tip amount we did not authorize. First time I emailed business on their website and owner called me to apologize and refunded the overpayment. This time once again a tip was added for a takeout order. I can no longer do business with a business that I cannot trust. **Beware** ***Response to owner*** Really?

The charges weren't holds. It was what your restaurant pushed through to our bank. I just got off phone with my bank, so I know better and so should you. Funny how the last time you said you were going to speak to staff and mistake was honest. Fortunately, no other business has ever done this to us, so it's not a bank hold. I retired from accounting and my employers would make me find ten cents so nice try but your staff picked the wrong one.

Love their pizza but its hit or miss. Sometimes the center of the pizza is soft and soggy. Im a crust guy, i like it crispy and hold its shape from the first bite to the last. Toppings are fresh and tasty. Staff is friendly and attentive. Overall, a great place to get your pizza fix

Got the Buffalo chicken pizza and it did not disappoint! The service is always really good and I've never had a bad experience at Joseph's

Great pizza, large menu very friendly staff! Would definitely recommend this fun casual place!

My girlfriend and I took the day off just to enjoy it. We stopped in to grab a bite and some wine. The food was amazing and so was the Sangria. While we were waiting for our food we looked up and saw the Blue Lives Matter flag which caught us completely off guard. Our server Caitlyn was super friendly and attentive. Also, it may have been the owner or manager who greeted us and asked us how everything was, she was also very pleasant.

We just don't know if they are inclusive. If we did notice the flag as we walked in we would have walked out. Overall we enjoy trying new things restaurants all over Jacksonville and featuring them on our Instagram. Food was a 4.5/5 Service was about the same. But we were not as comfortable. Hopefully no one else has to feel the same way and this situation could be addressed.

Picked up a pizza after a night walk on the beach. She was a friendly cashier/server who walked the pizza out when it was done. And What a pizza! One of the best hand tossed I've had with a nice crunch to the bottom- excellent texture. We picked the vegetarian and substituted a couple of topics. The garlic and well placed toppings were a sweet nonstop dance, slice after slice on my satisfied tongue. We all agreed, so good. My highest compliments to the pizza chef!

It's Nothing spectacular, the food wasn't good and the service wasn't the best. Seemed like one or more of the folks had a problem with having customers in the restaurant. I gave a good tip considering the food and service weren't all that good and the fact that she spilled my son's soup all over the table when she brought it- she didn't bother cleaning it up or bringing us napkins to do so ourselves.

Even though I asked :(. He ended up with food poisoning that night that lasted for three days. So that was awesome. He ate brunch in the hotel across the street (that morning) and dinner at Joseph's. Not sure which gave him food poisoning but we sure won't be back to either one.

While service was slow to start, Brian ultimately did a good job. It's a busy place filled with snowbirds and locals. I ordered sausage stuffed mushrooms that were really good, slathered in melted mozzarella and golden brown. I was encouraged. I should have quit while i was ahead. The salad, which came shortly after my mushrooms arrive was very simple, nothing fancy and just fine Then, while i had both courses still on the table.

What the bloody hell? The entree arrived. The platter was huge with what appeared to be two thick breasts liberally breaded and fried. Looks are deceiving (see pic below). The breasts which immediately fell away from the breading were paper thin, grey in color and so overcooked i couldn't eat it. The pasta was buried underneath all of this breading and not very good.

In all my years of being a chef, i have never seen a chicken Parm prepared and served like this. I don't know how they did it and i don't want to know. Chicken parm is a simple standard breading procedure : raw chicken breast-flour-egg-bread crumb-fry I suggest the mushrooms, then the check. Sorry, it was just fundamentally wrong

Best Italian I've had in a while. Great service. Lots of menu options. Casual vibe. Very homey. Great location! I got a Caesar salad and the baKed ziti with meatballs. The pasta had ricotta, delicious marinara, perfectly cooked ziti and lots of melted cheese. The meatballs are ginormous. I would be curious to try it with Italian sausage!

Cute hole in the wall! The pizza was so good and so was the fresh baked bread! They have 2 different types of marinara (one is pizza sauce) so ask your server about these choices if you are a bread dipper like me! The pizza was nice and crispy! They also have a decent wine selection. I would recommend to anyone in the mood for pizza!
