Meet the man behind Ralph's Catering. Jean Megana is the chef behind the exquisite cuisine presented by Ralph's. His culinary passion started as a child like most of us with our love of savory and sweet foods. Jean was inspired to offer others the same that same affection for quality cuisine made at his finger tips. Whatever special event you may be planning, we have event catering that will meet you needs. When we present our dishes we are sure provide the flavorful steaming dishes, warm delicacies, fresh flakey pastries, & chilling drinks and desserts.

I recently attended an event catered by Ralph's. All of the food was tasty but the servers seemed annoyed and portions were incredibly small, especially given the cost of the event. We were fairly early in the food line and it seemed like they were already running out of food and rationing portions. Also, appropriate cutlery was not provided for the food that was served. Overall it was a disappointment.

Chef Jean is so sweet and did an outstanding job catering my 50th celebration! We chose the pasta buffet which was good for guest of 25! Communication can be tricky in that his response time to emails were slow, but he delivers on his word. I will definitely use his business again and do the taco fiesta. Tacos are fire! Thanks Chef Jean you were a hit at my event!

Because of the success of my fiance's birthday party, we opted to use them again for my mother's memorial. This is a company that is family operated. They are friendly, professional caterers. The food was amazing again. We chose the street tacos, rice, and pinto beans. They even make their own corn tortillas right before your eyes. This is the second time I have utilized their services. Thank you again for another successful gathering.

Jean and his team at Ralph's Catering were so kind and flexible. They provided breakfast for our kids camp each day for 3 days in a row. They adjusted the menu to accommodate the children, but made sure it was also delicious to satisfy the adults. We all looked forward to the meals they brought every morning. and the portions were so generous, nobody left hungry that is for sure! Thank you Jean for helping us to serve the children in our community!

We hired Ralph's Catering for our wedding in Walnut Creek and he did a wonderful job! Communication was a bit tricky at times, but in the end everything went so smoothly. The food was delicious and I really felt like I could trust Ralph for our big day. It also helped that he is so well priced. He knew our venue well, so we didn't have to worry about set up or clean up to make sure we got our deposit back.
He and his wife were both really pleasant to work with over the phone and in person and you can tell that he really enjoys what he does! Most importantly, the food was fantastic! We had a guest who is a former Chez Panisse chef and he approved and went back for seconds! I highly recommend hiring Ralph!

NO SHOW for my wedding reception! I CAN NEVER GET THAT DAY BACK! So incredibly disappointed and upset that it was ruined. Several emails going back and forth with the date in the subject line. He even came to our home and provided a sampling and menu decisions. We have been in Brentwood for nearly 20 years and he is known and recommended BUT not by us.
Do mistakes happen? Of course.but this big of a mistake should NEVER happen for a wedding. Get an appetizer wrong or forget the dinner rolls but not the entire event! Just over 100 hungry people and no food - not the memory I was hoping for my wedding. Guests came from out of state or traveled over an hour to celebrate with us. You can't leave them hungry with no food cooked. And no immediate solution or food was offered.

We had a celebration of life for my cousin at my home in Brentwood. Ralph's Catering did an excellent job! Venita Kelly, showed up in plenty of time to set everything up from tablecloths, flowers, food, drinks and desserts. Everyone enjoyed the food, it was all very good. She did a beautiful job and kept the kitchen clean and free of any clutter during the entire event.
She was on top of everything the entire time and left me free to visit with all the guests. When she left there was absolutely nothing for me to do. I will definitely call Ralph's again and I highly recommend them! Thank you Venita!

We just used Ralph's Catering for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary party this past weekend. Ralph and all of his staff did an outstanding job throughout the entire process. The food was wonderful and enjoyed by all. Ralph was very easy to work with. He met with my husband and I on more than one occasion to talk things through. He made great recommendations and was flexible.
He helped me design the event with all of my parent's likes and dislikes in mind. He helped me find rentals and a bartender too. On the day of the party, everything ran so smoothly. The women who served were so prepared, friendly, and easy to work with. Melanie confirmed all plans with me to make sure that our timing was correct. They even made sure that I ate!
The food was delicious! We chose tri tip and chicken marsala, salad, garlic mashed potatoes and the rosemary rolls. Everything was wonderful. The guests really liked the carving station. My parents were so happy with the entire event and Ralph and his staff really made the day so special. I am so grateful and would highly recommend them for your next event.

Ralph catered my mother's funeral reception. The food was wonderful, and his service was excellent. From the moment we first met with Ralph, he was helpful in planning the menu, and ensured all the detail were taken care of. There was plenty of food for all in attendance, and his presentation and service was impeccable. He delivered on everything he promised. I highly recommend him for any catering event you may have planned.

Ralph catered our wedding in 2010. We had a great experience with him and would recommend his business. We originally met with Ralph at his small business in Brentwood several months before our wedding. The business was very small and cramped, but sufficed for the consultation. We quickly decided that we felt comfortable having him as our caterer and hired him.
We returned a month or so later to taste the menu that we had discussed and were more than pleased. Our menu consisted of a fruit display as well as served stuffed mushrooms for appetizers, tri-tip, chicken marsala, and cheese ravioli with a strawberry salad, ceasar salad, and rolls for dinner, served buffet style. Our guests all raved about the delicious food and great service staff. Ralph was a very kind, friendly guy.
He worked with us and even drove over 2 hours to our wedding site with no extra charge. He actually threw in some extras and didn't charge us an extra dime. We really enjoyed Ralph's food, as did our 120 guests.

This business catered my mother's wedding reception at the beginning of July 2011. We had 100 guests and she purchased the premier wedding buffet package. Upon arrival the 2 different appetizers were being offered. However, the mushrooms stuffed with shrimp were not cooked thoroughly or raw depending on which tray you were offered. The fruit display was put out during the appetizer hour and my husband went and got a slice of fruit (after checking with my mother who was the bride). Ralph the owner of the catering business came up to my husband and bluntly told him "You can't eat that. It's for dinner".
This unprofessional behavior irritated me on many levels. You do not place food out and tell people not to eat it. Also, you are not rude to guests who can (or in this case will not) possibly use your catering services in the future. The buffet was OK. The Caesar salad was dismal and two of the three rolls that my family received were not baked all the way. the tri tip was tasty.
There was to be a tri tip, chicken, and vegetarian option. All that was put out was the meat dishes. When I inquired to Ralph regarding the vegetarian dish, he stated "We don't put it out because everyone would eat it". (Um isn't that what was paid for? It is a buffet!) Again I was irritated with the unprofessional behavior he exhibited.
I stated that I needed the vegetarian dish for my daughter and they went in the kitchen and came out with one portion for her. She enjoyed it. There was no coffee service that we saw even though that was to be included in the premier package my mother purchased. Lastly, even though we were at the wedding party table my husband and I were never offered any sparkling cider or champagne to toast with.
So as a result we had empty glasses to toast my mother and her husband. Again, this was included in the package that was paid for but somehow the servers skipped us entirely (which was strange since we were seated at the table the entire time). All in all a huge disappointment. My mother did write a letter to the owner (Ralph) of the catering business since she received several complaints from guests regarding the service of this company. She has not heard back from him as of today.
