We do catering right out of our kitchens or we can smoke it right at the party! It would be polite of you to call ahead and schedule a visit to our manager. We are pretty busy and sometimes, we might not be able to talk to ya. We are rarely sitting around the place twiddling our thumbs. But, if you have time to see us, we would like to know what you do for a livin. I don't believe I've had a job where I can goof around. Sounds like fun, but, you know what? I have too much fun smoking meats for folks like you!
All of our products are prepared fresh daily - well most of them. The cole slaw, tater salad and other salads are. But our meats take days to prepare even before they are cooked. You see, we use rubs on our meats that we allow to soak in for up to 72 hours before they're placed in the smoker. That's what makes Bonehead's different we are slow low and slow smokin. We use wood fired smokers only - no natural gas or charcoal. We believe natural gas and charcoal leave a flavor that isn't compatible to tasty food.

Bonehead's Teaxs BBQ is the brainchild of a Silicon Valley salesman that became disgusted with traveling, commuting and the general uncertainty of the industry. Wanting to do create a living from what he had passion for, Dave Roberson was encouraged by griends and family to open a restaurant or catering business providing true Texas BBQ to the greater bay area of San Francisco.
Armed with a pot full of Dave's own recipes, a sense of humor and a desire to make people smile, he set out to conquer the gastronomical world one rib at a time. My Fiancé and I have travelled all over Texas and the Bay Area looking for our favorite BBQ place and we found it right here in our own backyard last week!
Bonehead's Texas BBQ in Lafayette, Ca had THE BEST pork ribs, brisket and potato salad!! This is now a main staple on our "eat out rotation" and so thrilled it's so close, we HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone who loves a good smoke ring on your meats and a little spice in your "sides".

Since my family is from Texas but I'm born and raised in California and went to Texas years ago and I fell in love with the people the food you cannot get Texas barbecue out here,and I'm glad that Yelp actually found you yesterday I normally don't take a chance unless I know people have eaten there. But I'm glad I did because Kate and Adam were awesome very welcoming letting us get some samples since we were newcomers and their food did not disappoint at all.
I was kind of sad that I didn't get to meet her dad but that's just an excuse to come and eat your food again, so Dave looking forward to meet you and have some of your delicious Texan food Bomb Diggity. I told everyone on Google Facebook, Yelp and showed off my pictures on Instagram, so if they live in the neighborhood you need to go to this restaurant because this is what real Texan food taste like.

Dave did my wedding rehearsal dinner in 09 and when I heard his restaurant had finally opened, and I finally made it back to lafayette, I was overjoyed. Dave's ribs are the best on earth. I've had barbecue in texas, georgia, the carolinas. . . These ribs are perfection. I sob when I'm done eating them. The chicken thighs are just as good, more like pork than chicken. And the brisket, especially the juicy brisket, is the high watermark for brisket, period. Dave is an absolute master of his craft. Drop everything and go there now.

The food was amazing!!!! Real authentic Texas BBQ. Loved it so much that we went there the next day before heading back home. As amazing as the food was, the hospitality was second to none. Dave the owner and his daughter Kate were some of the greatest people we have meet. They made us feel like part of the family. Will defiantly drive 6 hours to head on over to Bonehead BBQ with more family and friends. If you are ever in Lafayette please make sure to stop for some amazing BBQ.
