Good quality meat, but highly overpriced. The owner will not even show the prices in the deli windows for the fresh cuts. And, your receipt does not show any detail other than the grand total of the purchase. What honest reason is there for those two issue existing? Hot dogs are boring and bacon is okay. Frozen veal is good. Frozen short ribs are good.

All four of those items are ridiculously priced. Even his prices for the Elegant Farmer frozen pies are ridiculously overpriced. Last time I purchased there, the owner helped me. He looked like he had a hangover. Although some of the meat is excellent quality, the prices are too ridiculous to support this business. He lost mine.

Hard to call this a butcher shop as someone else has mentioned when everything is pre packaged and vacuum sealed. Wanted some steaks cut a certain thickness (thicker than usual), and the guy at the counter kept trying to tell me he had just cut these other ones "20 minutes ago" and vacuum sealed them. They weren't the thickness that I was looking for, but he acted as though I was the one being picky for not settling on something I didn't want especially considering their exorbitant prices.

If you don't have their coupons, it definitely isn't worth coming here for what they charge, and even if you do have coupons, the prices are still completely out of line with competition. Last thing to mention is that they don't do custom cuts of meat, and didn't even seem familiar with what some cuts were. I doubt they do much in house other than rip people's money off and act rude and inconvenienced by customers. Don't waste your time here only to get ripped off and treated rudely by the condescending guy at the counter.

I was in a real jam when a member of our household came down with COVID the day before Thanksgiving. Quarantine was immediately established so no grocery store trips, no turkey, not even a potato in the house! A call to Heybeck's saved the holiday. Their turkey was so flavorful and cooked up moist & tender, their stuffing was the best I've ever had and their mashed potatoes were delicious! All of it delivered curbside. Thank you Heybeck's!

Best Ham I've ever eaten. Most store bought hams are too salty but this ham was delicious. It's all we've eaten since Thanksgiving and we're not tired of it at all. The twice baked potatoes were also great and the Wisconsin Swiss is a fabulous cheese. Love this place and highly recommend!

I was unfortunately let down by the fact that this is by no means a butcher. Rather, this is a store that sells only meat and dog treats. Everything with the exception of ground beef and pork chops were pre-wrapped in vacuum seal packaging. Pre-portioned, pre-cut. There are two enormous freezers in the center of the store packed with frozen meat not ready to be cooked or put on the grill in a pinch. I wasn't able to find any meat that seemed artisan or higher than prime level. Unfortunately, nothing was pre marinated either.

Man this place has some quality meats. Just picked up some steak and chicken. It's always a lot more fun to cook when you have meat this good. Cuts are excellent and the customer service is excellent every single time.

Great ribs and sausages. We ordered the Thuringer and smoked Cajun-style. Smoked Cajun-style are my favorite. It's great to have a local butcher.

This place had good cuts for a short time, but they are now has-beens. Learn how to pick-and-choose at the main grocery stores, and to lower your expectations. Places like Heybeck's expect you to expect more from them, but you are a fool if you do so. Screencap this, in case you ignore this warning.

I visited this place for the first and last time last week. I was there to grab some steaks to grill over the weekend and was expecting something similar to a butcher or at least something of that quality level. I was horribly disappointed. I do not mind paying a premium for fresh, quality steaks, but most of the "fresh" meats here were vacuum-sealed, which seems inherently less-than-fresh.

I requested 2 porterhouses and a strip, but realized when I got home that was given 2 thin T-bones and a strip, instead. $70 for 3 vacuum-packaged steaks that weren't even what I ordered. With so many quality meat shops in the area, there is no way this business can be competitive.

My family and I have been going to Heybeck's for years. I love the cuts of their steaks and chops. They are really helpful with picking out good cuts of meat for special occasions. I most recently got my dad a tri-tip steak from here and he absolutely loved it! (and so did the rest of the family!)

Interesting that the photos show steaks packed and vacuumed sealed packages. hence not fresh. I think I will take a pass on this meat market

This is my go to place for skirt steaks. The outer is where it's at and most places don't sell that. Definitely worth the price. I love going to a butcher shop for steaks over a grocery store.

I went it looking for great quality steaks. Game out with four decent sized filets for 85 dollars and high expectations. These better be amazing for that price, I thought. And they were amazing. Although to my credit I have mastered the art of the sear on the cast iron pan. The steaks were just as good if not better than steaks I have had at Wildfire (my favorite restaurant), Better than Mortons for sure.

As good as the best steak I have ever had at Bavettes in Chicago. Everyone at my dinner party loved them. I will be returning to Heybeck's when every I want to treat myself and my family to what we call "Wildfire at home"

Amazing food and fantastic service! They do everything for you! They set up, cook, serve and clean up. The food is so good and the staff super friendly! We've used them for 8 years, multiple times a year and think they are great! I highly recommend!

I won't do a big party without Brooke & Heybecks! The execution, food, and full service that Heybecks brings to a party are flawless! Brooke ensures every detail is perfect so you can just enjoy - especially when you home is clean when they leave!

My husband purchased 2 ribeye steaks last night from Heybecks to the tune of $80. He should have known something wasn't right when it was given to him in vacuum sealed plastic. We got it home and put it on the grill. It looked okay but the consistency was just weird. I can't put my finger on exactly what the issue was but it 100% didn't taste like butcher steak is supposed to taste.

Fast forward to a conversation with my mother this morning where she tells me that place has been in business for 30 years and she doesn't understand why. She further goes on to say the stuff tastes like it's pre-packaged nonsense. Now I have to agree with her because that is exactly how it tasted, bargain meat from the grocery store. We often drive to Inboden's out in Dekalb so we are butcher people. I guess $80 down the drain because he didn't have the time to take the drive last night.

I went in on a rainy day, walked in and was the only person in the building I saw one guy sitting on the phone right in front did not recognize me or even say hello. Heard another woman in the back talking on her cell phone also did not recognize or greet me. I walked around the shop for a couple minutes waiting to be greeted, never received any acknowledgment walked out will never go back again. I hope they have enough business to ignore their customers.

This place is great. Wife and I are so happy we found this close to our come. I walked in about 15 min prior to closing. I met the owner and he was extremely helpful and gave me a run down of all their products. My wife and I were very pleased with what I picked up! The steak we got was out of this world and his homemade Italian Sausage (I got MILD and HOT - we LOVED the HOT!) was fantastic! 10/10 will go back. Can't wait to try the chicken!

Did my first Pork shoulder on the green egg. The team at Heybeck's provided a fresh full seasoned and wrapped pork shoulder and provided me instructions on how best to smoke it. A stress free day and great pulled pork. Thank you!

Great quality. I purchased a T-Bone steak, excellent flavor. Nothing to envy to Ohama Steak. Kudos!

Heybeck's catered our wedding, and everything was incredible! We had a pig roast along with chicken and sides, and our guests raved about the food. I had more than one guest tell me it was the best wedding food they have ever had. Brooke was incredibly helpful with planning, and also day-of, as she was one of our servers. She also helped us stay within our budget while still providing excellent food and service.

All of our servers did a great job in setting up/ taking down/serving our food, and also in cleaning up during our event. They also helped serve our appetizers and our dessert, which were not provided by Heybecks, and I really appreciated that. Our venue was not a banquet hall, and the "kitchen" was very small. It had to have been hectic for them, but they made everything look easy. I would most definitely recommend them for any event. Thank you so much for making our wedding day so special!

I threw a pig roast party for my wife's 60th birthday and I am so glad we went with heybecks service! Brooke handled everything from the tent and table linens to the appetizers and desert! It made it so easy for me! The food was spectacular! Fat asparagus spears wrapped in prosciutto? Crazy good stuff! The two servers Laura and tessie were so professional and worked so hard, they made an awesome team and I felt like they were part of the family! Heybecks has this whole thing down to a science and I WILL be doing this again!

Good products. Fresh cut. Really expensive though. 2-3 times more expensive than the average meat deli.

Very exceptional service! Just catered for a family reunion of 70 - the food was delicious! The service beyond amazing. These are the people to go to for your event!

Heybeck's started accepting credit cards years ago, but I rarely get back there, now that I live on the East Coast. After reading all of the reviews about the pig roasts, I'm going to have to treat my family to one the next time I go home to the Midwest. Thanks for the reviews, yelpers!

We used Heybeck's to cater a party of about 75 people and the food was AWESOME. I had their pulled pork at a wedding before and it definitely does not disappoint. I know they included a few extra salads for us which was great and the girls who were our servers were very friendly. We probably could have used an extra person to help with bringing the food out as some items were empty at certain points during dinner, but overall great and it's nice they are a local business.

I used Heybecks for a graduation party. I catered a pig roast. They were great to work with and very fair about their explanations and prices. The food was great. I loved the presentation. Just make sure you tell the servers when you don't need them anymore or they will continue to stay and you will get charged. I was happy to have them stay.they cleaned up and made coffee for my guests. You will not regret using Heybecks for a pig roast.

This review is for Heybeck's pig roast/catering service. Our group's picnic this year doubled in size, and we needed someone who could help us put on a pot luck pig roast (caterers roast the pig, everything else is pot luck). These guys were fantastic! We would definitely use Heybeck's again--not only was the meat delicious and plentiful but the service that came with it was top notch!

When they arrived at the picnic grove and saw we were short on tables and on a way to cook our own hot dogs they went and got more tables and brought their own hot dog cooker for us to use! The event coordinator Brook was amazing, and a real pro. We amateurs were floundering trying to figure out how to set stuff up, she took over and set up our food and theirs in a very nice presentation. The whole event was super smooth thanks to her! Highly recommended!
