This place is a gem for authentic Maharashtrian snacks! Love their batata vadas! This is the second year we ordered Diwali Faral( Diwali Snacks) and drove all the way from Pennsylvania to get them. They do deliver if you order online. I have also tried using their Kanda-Lasun Masala in my daily veg and non-veg curries and would definitely recommend it. Amongst the Diwali faral my favorites are the Mawa Karanji and Rava-Naral Laddoos. I am glad I found this place.

Critical:Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value They sent 2 broken idols to us and charged $70 after we contacted them they did not respond to phone calls or emails. We gave up on the money lost but also had to search last minute for ganesh murti. buyer beware or dont pay until they ship you a good unbroken murti.

Placed an order with them & they were amazing! The flavors & taste are true & authentic to Mumbai. They were prompt in their shipping, sending emails through the process. We have tried out so many other places but y'all- this is the authentic deal! Order from them- you will not be disappointed!

Excellent catering place for Marathi wedding! Excellent place to have spicy Batatawada (potatoballs), spicy Chilly-Pakoda, Sweet Flat bread (Poranpoli), and many other Indian dish, if you are New Brunswick area. Ganesh idols, Diwali Decorations and other seasonal items are also sold during seasonal festivals!

I am so delighted that I stumbled upon your mouth-watering snack packs at Patel Brothers in Edison a few months back. Eversince I am a regular consumer / buyer of your outstanding Batata Wada and Mirchi Pakora! Though I am a South Indian, I could instantly spot the authentic Maharashtrian taste in these two items! The Batata Wada brought me back the wonderful memories of batata wada of Sri Krishna Foods, Dadar West, Mumbai which I have had the pleasure of eating on few occasions in my life.

If only you can also include the salty 'hara mirchi' that goes with the batata wada, it will be even more awesome! Every 3 weeks or so, I drive back from Baltimore to New York. I make it a point to stop by Patel Brothers just for your Batata Wada and Mirchi Pakora! Keep up the good work. God bless you and your business!

Was recommended this place by a friend. It's a very small, catering place with variety of Marathi snack mainly and other snack items also - puran poli, chicken pakoda, srikhand and batatawada were the ones which I've tried and all had the authentic taste. At festival times specially they run out of their stocks so its better to order ahead of times before going. Average looking, small place - looks like could do some improvement in the cleanliness and hygiene. Staff was helpful in explaining their items and with help needed.

A neighbor orders food from Suma Foods for an annual function she hosts in her house. We were visiting Oak Tree area for some shopping and decided to stop at Suma Foods. The location of the store is very odd. It's easy to miss it. The parking area is unpaved and the surrounding is very run down. The lady inside at the computer was very nice. From her, we got the impression that this is primarily an online order fulfillment center.

They didn't have many options to buy on the spot. Everything we would ask for, was not available. They told us to order online and they will ship it home. We were disappointed. We were hoping to see the Diwali packs onsite and buy the one which we liked. They didn't have any in the store.

We drove here from north jersey to pick up diwali faral. The faral was very delicious with home taste. We thoroughly enjoyed the quality of the food. Would recommend marathi folks to go here for diwali faral over oak tree road sweets. A great thumbs up

This review is specific to Ganesh Visarajan - 2018 1. We were asked to register online, make payments online and then drop our Ganesha at Suma foods tents 2. We did that and a lady asked us to leave our registration printout below the Ganesh idol 3. On Sept 30, we were asked to join at Johnson park for Ganesh visarjan at 4pm EST 4. The procession did not start until 5:30pm EST 5.

We looked through each and every idol several times and could not locate our Ganesha 6. On checking with Suma Foods Management, we were told that idols are still coming in different vehicles (even at 6pm EST) 7. Suma Foods Management owner, reacted unprofessionally to us when enquirer about our idol - she said they have been trying to get Ganesha from the tents since 9am EST and have had not much help, she completely unaccounted for our idol and blamed the entire audience for not being helpful 8.

The owners son at around 6pm EST told us there several ganeshas have been left behind at the tents given the increased number of orders they received this year. I enquired, if we go back to the tents, search for our Ganesha, and get it back will you do the visarajan. on which after some thinking, he said yes 9. We reached Suma foods at 6:20pm EST, there were several idols left behind at the tent, we could not find ours and were disappointed.

Then we saw a reflection of Ganesha in a locked car. On peeping in we saw several Ganesh idols trashed in the car. We then observed several cartons left around. There were Ganesh idols toppled one over the other and everything left behind The point I am trying to make - people come to you because you are trying to help them with their faith. I agree you could have been overwhelmed and you had less help, but if you are going to take charge in owning people's faith, please don't play with them.

I sincerely recommend everyone to not leave behind their idols at Suma foods with hopes that idols with make their way to the visarjan venue. And for some reason If you have too, please don't come to the visarjan with hopes of finding your Ganesha! Suma foods you not only lost our idol, you were extremely unprofessional and disrespectful in honoring our faith

Except for Roti, this place is not worth a visit for anything else. They take catering orders but don't deliver quality food. Never going back for anything except for rotis.

Well, what can I say, You guys have horrible business ethics as if you were running a business in India, "Indian-Style" Yes you guys are making a $ million off your business now but saying that you should probably put "some" of that money to streamline your business in a professional manner in terms of quality, quantity and shipping. We are making this strong statement only because of the experiences our families have had dealing with your unprofessionalism over years.

We paid for family sized package but received a small couple package. Then after bringing that to your attention you charged us again for shipping and rush shipping because of your incompetence? This is NOT the first time this has happened, It had happened to our International packages too. How do you call this a $ million professional business when all you do cheat people out of rush shipping charges because you guys don't have a system that keeps track of your orders or priorities?

We ordered another couple package for International order never got shipped till the last minute after initially placing an order for over a month before. Again, when we brought to your notice, you rush shipped it and charged us another $96 for shipping?! As one of the consumer and of many who feel the same, I am appalled with your horrible customer service, business practices and thus feel the necessity to bring it up with BBB (Better Business Bureau) as formally as I can.

I had a very pleasant experience with Suma Foods. Ordering was super easy, delivery was before time, packaging was great, and most importantly my order (Chakali) was awesome! It was not oily, right crunchy, and tasty. (I am uploading a picture as well.) One more thing. the owner is professional and warm! Many thanks Suma Foods for making our Diwali very special!

We utilized Suma Catering for a corporate event with 20 people that we hosted at our house. The Service and food was great, they helped us customize a menu that worked on our budget. I would highly recommend anyone thinking about hosting a corporate event to reach out to Suma foods. You won't be disappointed.

We recently bought whole wheat Chappathi by Suma Foods from Bhavik Cash & Carry Elmsford on Nov 23, 2014. We opened it at home on the same day to see the chappathi was spoiled with Fungus on it. I returned back to Bhavik the next day Nov 24, 2014 to inform the same. Store manager Praveen told me that he is not responsible for the quality of the products as they do not manufacture it there. (Though i believe the shop owners must ensure the quality of the products they sell). Hence i am posting this review about whole wheat Chappathi by Suma Foods here too.

We were really disappointed to see such cheap quality of food distributed and sold. I have a toddler at home. What if one of us fell sick by eating the chappathi with fungus in it. Shopkeeper says all these questions needs to be answered by the manufacturer. I am also posting the photos of the spoiled chappathi.

I ordered Diwali snacks for 2 years. The first year I just ordered Shankarpali n Karanji. Shankarpali was good and Karanji was no so good. So next year we again thought of giving fair chance to them and this time I ordered all ordered gift pack for gifting it to relatives and Shankarpali, Karanji, Chakali and Shev for us. None of the above items were good. Chakali was so oily that next 5 days i kept them on the paper and I had to change that paper everyday. Shankarpali was very thick and bad. Karanji was hard.

And the worst was, 2 days later when i thought of checking the gift pack before giving it to anyone. there was fungus to the ladu. It was the major disaster. Still I thought there might be management issue or something and hence I thought of writing them an email first stating the problem. It has been more than 7 days now and still there is no reply. Finally I decided to write a review because I don't want anyone else to suffer.

We heard about Suma Foods through a friends and wanted to try them out. Last year we ordered snacks for Diwali for us and our children. The quality of more than 50% of the snacks was mediocre to say the least. They don't give the shipping cost estimate when placing the order. We were charged exorbitant amount for shipping. The whole thing was not worth it.

We then wanted to try them again for a party and ordered food for 25 people. It was supposed to be delivered at 3:30 pm. The food did not arrive until 6:30 pm. The main item was not even delivered. This spoiled the whole atmosphere of the party. At least the food was half way decent. We are from Maharashtra and wanted to give Suma Foods one more try so most of non Marathi friends can experience pure Marathi food.

This time it was a total disaster. The food came late. Basundi was delivered concentrated and the delivery person said we had add milk and boil it. Well we did not have a gallon of milk in the house so had send someone to get it and wasted 2 hours of two of our friends to be in the kitchen to get the basundi right. The puries were horrible, oily and not well fried. Masala Rice had absolutely no masala in it.

The worse thing was that there was not enough quantity. 30% of our guests did not have enough food. The delivery person did not have a bill and wanted cash. This was a total disappointment. We never gave a bad review to anyone in the last 40 years.,B ut Suma Foods let us down do many times, we had to report this time

When catering from any place, one thing to keep in mind is always try the food before ordering which is what we did. We wanted to make sure we are getting exactly what we tasted. My favs are rasmalai, mango pudding, chili pakora (chili poppers), puris, pani puri, and vegetable cutlet. Also specify your spice level. Be as specific as possible when you are placing the order so there are no blame games afterwards. Also get confirmation and follow up. They are well equipped for small to medium sized parties.
