Life is all good when you have a good sandwich. Considering this, Cardona's Market has the best subs that I've ever had. When I walked into Cardona's I knew this place would be great. To elaborate, the place is so comfy and the smell of cheeses hits you right away. I could have spent my entire day in this market, that is how much I enjoyed it. Bearing this in mind, I scanned the menu and the Cardona's Club caught my eye.
The club is turkey, ham, bacon, mayo, lettuce, and cheddar cheese on a sub roll. As soon as I received the sub I knew I was in for a treat. I bit into the sub and my tastebuds exploded with glee. To put into perspective, the roll was toasted, crunchy, and absolutely fantastic. I could have cuddled up with it and used it as a pillow. In addition, the bacon was crispy and hot.
The ham and turkey was incredibly fresh with tremendous flavor. Also, the cheddar cheese was rich and uplifted the sub into greatness. The sub was easily one of the best I've ever had. By and large, Cardona's Market has top tier subs and it is much better than its rival Andy and Sons. Simply put, Cardona's Market is the place to go for a great sub.

Ordered a sub with a friend from work and the order was completely wrong. The worst part was, all the directions were written on a piece of paper that was stapled to my sub, it it was written correctly but made wrong. When I called to find out how to get this transaction corrected, I waited on hold for 10 minutes, called from my work phone to be answered and after making my complaints I was hung up on.
To the guy DJ who I spoke to on the phone, Thanks for nothing! In the food service industry you need to be polite and come up with a solution not hang up on customers! Also with prices as high as they are for food, how hard is it to follow directions? Written on the sub, come onnnnnn

Cardona's is too much of an institution to really need me weighing in on its behalf, but just in case you've ever been in the neighborhood and thought, "Should I go in there?" The answer is yes, you absolutely should. The food is excellent, the shop is cozy and spotlessly clean, and there are so many free cheese samples that you could probably make a meal out of them (if you wanted to eat a meal of nothing but teensy cheese cubes).
You shouldn't want that, though, because if you fill up on cheese you won't have room for a delicious, enormous sandwich. They also have family dinner specials and sell stuff like their meatballs to take home, and have a fairly robust imported grocery section (we always buy stuff like chili flakes here). Just make sure that you leave enough time to get your food -- Cardona's gets slammed during the lunch and dinner rushes, so plan to wait in line for a while and enjoy the people watching.

They uset to be so good. I'm not sure what happen. I ordered my usual today and I most say I'm so disappointed. I get the chicken meatballs and penne and the sauce is so watery it took what lil flavor the food had away. And I guess they stop giving the bread with the meals cause I did not recieve it. Just whole thing was a waste of 25 bucks

Great food and products; simply wonderful selection of pre-cooked foods, hot foods, salads, desserts, fruits and cookies. Cheese display is fresh and good; meats are wonderful; I could shop from Cardona's every day and never be bored but I'd gain weight! A great place for a sandwich or a meal or to purchase your ingredients for dinner.they also do catering and it's a fair price and a great meal too.

It's Good! I was a big fan of Roma's but honestly Cardona's has duplicated their recipe for success and improved it. Everything is home made and the highest quality ingredients in my opinion. I especially like the Steam Table with a different selection and all time favs hot and ready for takeout although they have a cute little Bistro area to enjoy your coffee or whatever. We are very lucky to a Cordona's location here in Latham and I for one will be a frequent customer, best of luck.

Was thrilled to stumble on this market last week. The food was delicious, there were lots of choices, the prices were reasonable and the presentation was fantastic. Seems like a very well run market and I will be going over there again soon. My only wish is that the space was a little bigger so that they could better accommodate more customers when they are busy.

Lunch from Cardona's was delicious. The atmosphere was exciting and welcoming. The staff were willing and ready to take orders, completing them in a timely fashion. They have a hot case/steamtable w/a variety of meats and sides. Also there are different sides to choose from. Then there is the baked goods that are pretty much different on a daily basis.
The store was clean and orderly. Plus you can sample and purchase a variety of cheeses. Its all that one can handle on a lunch break but, make no mistake, you can return for plenty of Italian choices for dinner.

I ordered take out for lunch, their small order of chicken meatball sub is "huge" for me. You can tell from the pictures that they aren't cheap with their ingredients because their one chicken meatball is bigger than a golf ball. I also ordered a piece of tiramisu but I didn't get to eat it but it looks really good. The owner packed 2 salads by mistake, one broccoli cheddar and one tomato mozzarella salad. I tried the salads and they tasted authentic.

3 stars is a solid average. I've been a Roma's customer for years and it has always been well above the standard. Rather than panning the new managed shop, I will explain why it didn't hit the mark of 4 or even 5 stars. I've been there three and had similar experiences. The first visit was a hot eggplant parm sandwich, second was the dried cured Capicola sub, and last night was a prosciutto sub.
As a matter of opinion only, I dislike the catchy sub/sandwich names I.e. Fuh-Gettabout-It etc. seems very chain store vibe rather than the authentic Italian market vibe. The subs have a bread to meat unlike their predecessors. Seemed very bready. not as much meat.same price.raising the price without raising the price. The bread also seemed different.
Perhaps it's the same rolls as before but it certainly didn't have that traditional crusty bite. Not sure but I would also bet the meat brands have changed. Now as far as subs go as compared to subway and the other chains Cardona far exceeds that level of Competition. However, compared to Roma's and the other Italian markets it falls as a solid three. I'm going to give them one more try with a twist. I'm going to buy a half sub from Cordonas market and the same half sub from Pellegrino Importing in Albany and post a head to head review. If you are in the area looking for a sandwich, give them a try.

Best meatball parm in Albany or maybe all upstate! The meatballs are so delicious and the melted cheese adds the perfect touch to the sweet tomato sauce and crispy and chewy bread. It is the perfect hot sandwich for a cold day in Albany. The trip to Albany is a long drive from the five boroughs so make sure you stop at Cardona's for a good hearty sandwich and get dessert while you're at it.

My husband and I ordered from here tonight! Wow! Great customer service. We were so happily greeted by a young girl at the register named lindsay and the girl that took our order Reilly (not sure of the spellings of the names) They were so sweet and made sure everything was perfect! Thanks for the kindness and great food! We will be back again for sure!

The best Italian market around is by far @cardonasmarket Our favorite hot sandwich is the Fuh-getabout-It but you definitely won't forget about it. It has the best quality ciabatta bread, chicken cutlet, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, tomato and spinach around. The bread is so thin but perfect. We like to add a balsamic glaze for extra density.
But don't forget about the hot foods which are the most amazing sauces you'll find. Plus their desserts are so unique and delicious. Pictured here is a cannoli cupcake

OMG this place is great! Terrific Italian dishes. A nice variety as well. They are also a market so there is always a big variety of vegetables for sale and they have a substantial cheese tasting area. They have wonderful sandwiches. They also have some scrumptious desserts. They do a lot of take out business. A great place to order food for your next party.
Just a note that they have a very small eat in area that is not overly comfortable and in winter is drafty since the outside door opens into that area. Overall this place still rates 5 stars because the food is so good and as a market they have a great selection of items for sale. Hungry for take out Italian? Give Cardona's a shot. You will not be disappointed!

A must visit in Albany. This charming little Italian Market is filled with fresh ingredients and prepared Italian foods and meats. I was like a kid in a candy shop. The market is in an older building and is immaculate inside. Masks required during COVID. Shelves of virgin olive oil and cases of artistic baked goods greet you. There is a coffee bar in the middle of the store.
There is a case of prepared foods if you don't want to cook. Many locals stopped by to pick up a quick dinner of pasta and other hearty offerings. They also have a selection of fresh Italian breads. And don't let me forget to tell you about the selection of gourmet olives and cheeses. We picked up some local Alps soppressata ($20) (from Aurora, NY.) Also a Greek Salad, Italian sausage and enormous meatballs.
The soppressata was out of this world. The salad was very good. The staff is friendly and helpful. The shop is tight and it's hard to distance, but everyone is good about wearing masks. There is street parking available. We parked right in front. If I lived in Albany, I'd be here every day. So authentic Italian.

Can you possibly imagine a time when a business stays so consistent for years. The time has come and Cardona's is the achiever. Have continued to order large lunch orders (dozens of them) for the past couple years. And have received exactly zero complaints from a single person about their lunch order. You feel like family when you're there and you feel like it was made with love when its take out or delivery. Special place.

Called here to try to salvage a meeting planned for a large group of people after another catering place cancelled on me last minute, and was so happy. We ended up getting pretty basic stuff (baked ziti, caesar salad, dinner rolls, and an antipasti) and were SO happy with the quality we got for the price. Pro-tip: order to pick up, and save the delivery fee.
Everything was ready and hot at the exact time I requested, check-out was fast, and all the staff I interacted with both over the phone and in person were lovely. Inside, it smells like tomatoes (in the BEST possible way), like I would imagine an Italian grandmother's kitchen would smell. Is that accurate? Probably not. I'm not Italian. Regardless, it was oddly comforting. Saw lots of people getting sandwiches made for their lunch - can't wait to come back and check out their subs!
