Main Event Caterers

Main Event catered our wedding in May 2022, and they were hands down my favorite vendor to work with. The food was AMAZING - our guests raved about the passed hors d'oeuvres and main meals equally. Throughout the entire process the staff went above and beyond. Melissa and the chef were extremely responsive and patient as we worked through multiple iterations of our menu.

The tasting was one of our favorite experiences of the planning process (make sure you come hungry!) We are foodie vegetarians, and the staff really worked with us to make all of our wedding dreams a reality, as the food was one of the most important details to us. The level of customer service was at the same par as the food. I cannot speak more highly of Melissa and Greg. Greg ensured that we were taken care of throughout the whole wedding, even down to ensuring that we both drank enough water and had time to eat. You cannot go wrong with Main Event, and I can guarantee you will be blown away.

I just used Main Event for my wedding at Stone Tower Winery this past weekend. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish with their team! Their event designers were great to work with leading up to the wedding. They were always responsive and on top of things. They were also great at helping us to work within our budget. The day of the wedding the staff was awesome!

We had many compliments from our guests on how attentive and nice the wait staff and bartenders were. We also had lots of compliments on how good the food and cake was! I would highly recommend them for your upcoming wedding!

Could not recommend main event more for a wedding or any event! They took my vision and made it all come to life perfectly!

I wish I could give Main Event more than 5 stars! Melissa was an absolute pleasure to work with. She must have updated our menu 100 times, but was always very responsive and friendly. The tasting was so wonderful and the food the night of the wedding was just as great! The staff is top notch. They even had a waitress that catered just to my husband and I the entire night, making sure we got to enjoy our appetizers and always had a full glass. If you want excellent quality food and service, look no further!

Our team over at Your Plan A Events had a fabulous wedding weekend this last weekend with Main Event Caterers. Their team was phenomenal and so professional. Their attention to detail was impeccable. Every guest we came in contact with could not stop raving about the food! This team is top of the line!

I hired Main Event catering for my intimate wedding of 67 in October 2021. Overall we had an enjoyable experience and received rave reviews from the guests about the appetizers, salad and chicken entree. The butlers and waitresses were great! Attentive, quick and very polite. Planning the wedding with the event designer we worked with was also enjoyable.

She was attentive to my needs and did her best at accommodating our increasing guest list for our relatively small venue. The only place of improvement I would suggest for Main Event to consider is a faster speed in communication. Would recommend them to any couple getting married!

Main Event catered our wedding, and they did three different food stations for us. All of it was so, so delicious! Everyone - I mean, everyone! - commented how it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding. It was so well done, and I was so thrilled because the food was most important to me for the wedding! The service was also incredible, especially our "personal" waiter, who took great care of me and my new husband. Usually wedding food is gross, but this totally proved that notion completely wrong! Highly recommend!

Main Event is fantastic. They are so well organized, responsive and truly listen to your needs and wants. They take the time to get to know you so your event aligns with your vision, (and budget). Melissa is amazing and I would highly recommend this company to anyone hosting an event or special occasion, in need of a great caterer.

Truly can't say enough about how great our experience with Main Event was. Spencer and Melissa made the tasting, planning, coordinating, organizing, and everything else incredibly easy in advance of the wedding. They always offered input, ideas, and feedback but were also more than happy to follow our lead. Without a doubt they were the best catering option among the 10 or so that our venue allowed.

On the day of the wedding, the service staff was absolutely outstanding in every way. They were quick to set up, did everything perfectly, and transformed a tented terrace into a beautiful dining room. The food was astounding, the service was impeccable, the bar was great (we got countless compliments on our bartender), and breakdown was quick and easy. Main Event was a critical part of our special day, and they executed everything perfectly.

Before hiring them for my wedding I went to a tasting at their headquarters. Food was amazing. I was super excited to share with my guest the food we had tasted and how amazing it was on the day of my wedding. When the day arrived the food was a disaster, it was not the rice I had requested. The rice looked like it was mashed potatoes, some of my guest had requested well done steak and the majority of them did not get that even though it was specified in their name cards.

Let's not talk about the desert table, there was NO Desert table. There were only 10 different macaroons on a plate. It was not what I expected and it was definitely not 13,000.00 dollars worth.

Spencer and his team were amazing at our tasting! From start to finish they put out the "red carpet" and presented the most beautiful and delicious food options I've ever tasted! Such a first class experience! With such a wonderful tasting experience, we knew Main Event was the best choice for our wedding! The Main Event team ensured the food was perfect, drinks were always filled and no one needed anything. They took their jobs so seriously and made a personal connection with our guests, which meant the world to us! Thank you for the perfect day!

I want to thank Main Event Catering team for this exemplary service and amazing food. I recently planned a wedding for a couple in DC and MEC provided the food and assisted with set up and breakdown. The entire team was so helpful and the food was absolutely delicious. I will definitely work with them again in the future!

They absolutely knocked it out of the park! We got three quotes from our wedding venue's list of preferred caterers, and Main Event was my top choice from the first email with Elyse. On top of that, they had the best menu options with the most staff on-hand for over $1,000 less than our second choice. We totally customized our appetizers, and after we picked out dinner choices from their menu, the chefs customized everything again, down to the amount of poblano crust on the salmon.

My only tips would be that, if you are providing your own alcohol or dessert, to discuss plans ahead of time for recovering leftover booze at the end of the night, as well as displaying desserts.

We had heard from others about the stresses of planning a wedding, but you and Main Event Caterers made it fun and stress-free. We were so happy with our daughter's wedding and just as happy to give Main Events Caterers our highest recommendation!

We did our due diligence in choosing MEC for our daughter's wedding. Spencer was our contact there, and he was gracious addressing all our concerns. The tasting went well, and we were confident in our choices. They have a large wedding business, and their social media reviews are positive overall. Looking at their pricing list, there was some confusion, where higher priced items were listed in a section with lower priced items. However, when the final estimate came to us, we were willing to pay the added cost.

Our first setback occurred when the meals for 10 vendors went from the $180 estimate for cold meals to $330 for warm meals. This was the same as we were paying for our guests, even though the vendor portions were smaller, did not include a salad course, and did not need expensive place settings. Our next concern was over the appetizers. We ordered 800 of them for the120 non Kosher eaters.

I was standing close to the bar area during the hour when appetizers circulated. I was able to get 4 of them in that hour. Either they weren't served in all the areas where people were located, or the full 800 weren't served at all. I have no way of knowing if they were all served, and clearly MEC knows that there is no was to keep track of this.

This brings me to dinner service. The salads served during the first course, though beautifully presented, were very lightly dressed. That would have been ok if additional dressing had been available at each table, but it was not. Both entrees were supposed to have crispy frizzled leeks over them in addition to other components. They went missing.

The beef served did not resemble the beef at our tasting. We got multiple complaints about it being too tough. The Salmon was overcooked and dry. To be fair, the green beans and citrus rice components were nicely done. Finally, we had numerous guests that required Kosher meals. MEC obtained them from Moti's Market. They selected the lowest priced offering, the General Tso's Tofu ($23), and sold it to us for $40 a plate.

Then they proceeded to take these cold plates and serve them without heating them. Either microwave or steaming these sealed entrees would have enhanced the the flavor, and made them more palatable. As it was, a large portion of the Kosher food went uneaten. So MEC initially seemed to be what we were looking for, but ultimately failed to live up to our expectations. Unfortunately, we are unable to recommend them.

We had MEC for our wedding in Arlington and they had superb service. The food was great and everything from the sales (Elyse/Max) to planning (Melissa) to execution (Diana) went very well. Our wedding coordinator even said MEC are one of the better catering companies she has worked with, and their experience & professionalism showed. To be clear, there are probably cheaper catering options out there but I think MEC's value was worth the price tag. Thanks again for a great event!

Main Event catered our wedding in August in Washington DC, and we had such an amazing experience working with their team. They handled everything on our wedding day, including chair set up, room flip and dinner, drinks and desert service. And the food was exceptional! It is not an exaggeration to say that several guests told us afterwards that it was the best wedding food they've ever had. We absolutely recommend Main Event.

If you're on a budget and getting married in the busy months, Main Event Caterers may not be worth your time/energy. It wasn't for me! Be forewarned that their questionnaire is among the longest I've seen. Weddings during the busy season (Sept-Oct) are a minimum $10k regardless of size or menu preferences with Main Event. Customer service rep Bryan had the courage to ask if I could change my wedding date if I wanted to not pay this premium.

This is frankly just rude. If it's not a good fit--own that, communicate that. Don't ask me to change my schedule because you place an exorbitant premium on weddings during busier months. Absolutely appalling.

The food was sublime, the staff was cordial, professional, and mindful of every detail. People literally raved about the catering for both the rehearsal dinner and our daughter's wedding that Main Event created for us. But that was only the beginning. what was truly special about Main Event was what happened behind the scenes. My planning for the wedding started in January when I began to tear our house apart to host the rehearsal dinner.

We repainted the entire house, re-plastered the walls, replaced all of the old curtains and window treatments, washed every window inside and out, replaced all of the screens on every window, and re-landscaped both the front and back yards. It was perfect. What I didn't foresee was how much rain we were going to get the week before the wedding and it flooded our backyard.

I was frantic at the thought that 50 people would be stuck, on a beautiful day, inside our relatively small house because otherwise they would be standing in the mud. I was literally going slightly crazy. Then Main Event arrived. I met the crew chief, Chip, and within seconds I blurted out to him what had happened. And he said to me, "Don't worry about it, we're here, we'll take care of it." I actually thought I was going to cry I was so relieved.

And they did fix everything. The crew brought in planks and set up the tables and chairs outside that I had rented and thought I would now not be able to use, and people flowed in and out of the house on a beautiful sunny afternoon as if nothing in the world had ever been a problem. That, is true professionalism. I can never thank Main Event enough. They made the newlyweds day - and mine in particular - absolutely spectacular.

The worst catering company I've ever encountered. Where do I start? They catered for my brother's wedding and it was awful. The steak was raw. The gnoche was tasteless and dry. The fish was edible yet bland. The cake servers were rude. The only good thing were the lemonade drinks. Please listen to all the bad reviews. This company should be out of business. Wow, I didn't even notice how highly they are rated here! This is a bunch of bs.

We hired them to cater a wedding of 160+ people and they did a phenomenal job. Food was one of the highest priority items for us and Main Events just knocked it out of the park. Also, did I mention that they had incredible vegetarian options and were very accommodating about dietary restrictions? Just amazing. Everyone was astounded at the quality of food they were served. And almost just as important, their service was absolutely top notch. Would highly recommend them!

I work in events and Main Event was THE BEST caterer I have had the pleasure of working with. We were so impressed by their proposal, which was head and shoulders above that of their competitors in terms of its uniqueness and usage of our theme. They were so communicative throughout the planning process and flexible as we made changes. The on-site staff was professional, kind, and attentive.

They were so great at anticipating need! Their lead on-site staff person, Valerie, really went above and beyond to make our event run smoothly. She ran out during the event to grab water bottles for the panelists at my request. And she was kind enough to pack up extra food for myself and my co-planners after the event- no caterer has ever done that for me! My thanks to Rachel, Michelle, and the team. I so highly recommend Main Event.

I chose Main Event catering to cater a Thanksgiving event for my company and Tracy really came through! Every detail was perfect and the food was amazing. The best stuffing I have had in long time. What a joy to have everything fall into place on this holiday and for once not to have to stress or lift a finger! I will be coming back to them for my next event!

Main Events catered my wedding last week. Several of my guests commented how delicious the food was. When the band showed up late and things had to be moved around, Karla, the Main Events on-site supervisor, provided helpful suggestions that kept the reception program on track. All my interactions with Main Events were very positive. They were consistently professional and accommodating - even providing us an additional tasting to make sure the herb chicken was to our liking. I highly recommend them!
