It all commenced with a pledge, evolving into a grand vision. Gaetano Gravino, a hairstylist, initially sought part-time employment at a doughboy shack in Oakland Beach. What began as a mere side job blossomed into an opportunity that resonated with his entrepreneurial drive – a trait inherited by his spouse and children: Sally, MaryAnn, David, and Guy. When the prospect arose to lease the establishment, Gaetano and Sally seized it. Thus, in 1989, Iggy’s Doughboy and Chowder House came into being – a name inspired by a moniker bestowed upon Gaetano by his son, David. The star of the menu was the red chowder – a closely guarded family recipe crafted by Sally herself.

The cashier was friendly and welcoming. The lobster roll is seasoned perfectly, buttery, and incredibly delicious with generous meat portions. The toasted bun adds a delightful crunch. The perfectly seasoned calamari is also generous in portion. While the lobster bisque lacked meat and flavor, the clam chowder was creamy and delightful. Surprisingly, the snail salad with vinaigrette dressing was tasty.
The raspberry lime homemade soda leaned a bit too sweet for my taste. And, of course, the doughboys are a must-definitely gotta grab a dozen to go. Excited for their patio when it warms up!

After a week long road trip we stopped at Iggy's after deciding that we had time for one stop before having to make our flight home and we'd read that you couldn't leave RI without trying a stuffie (stuffed quahog). This place had the best reviews for one. It was definitely worth the stop and risking our flight. We ordered a little bit of everything and it was delicious, the stuffie being the best. While ordering we also learned that there are 3 versions of clam chowder in the NE region and that clear is the RI version.

Perfect way to end a beach day or start one! Went with my family (8 people) on a Wednesday night around 6 pm. The surrounding area is clean and accessible, off of a main road with plenty of parking. Seating options include outdoor to the left of the restaurant, inside, or a short walk past a rental property to a more private area surrounded by bushes.
The bathrooms are inside and double stall. There was a long line, but it moves fairly quickly, and there's plenty of space to step aside and wait for your number to be called. I highly recommend the classic New England clam chowder and clam cakes, which you can get as a combo for around $8 (includes a cup of chowder and 3 clam cakes). The clam cakes are slightly bigger than a golf ball, and the chowder does not contain bacon.
I also recommend the dough boys (your choice of cinnamon, granulated or powdered sugar or plain), which are softball sized and sold by 3, 6, or 12. If those Rhode Island classics aren't your first choice, there are other options, which include sandwiches, lobster rolls, or fish and chips! Kid-friendliness: This is a family-friendly establishment, just be cautious of children wandering into the main road. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp to use to access the order and pick up windows as well as the indoor seating. There are also accessible stalls in the restrooms.

Great seafood! Ordered the lobster roll platter. It came with fries, Cole slaw and clam chowder. Also ordered the clam strips and some clam cakes. Food was delicious and food was made pretty quickly. I was given the wrong order at first but I brought it back to cashier and they fixed it pretty quickly only had to wait a few minutes. Definitely would visit again if in the area.

Absolutely amazing food, friendly staff, and great service. Literally the best lobster roll I've ever had, and it's amazing for the price. 3.99 for a root beer is a lot though haha, but my girlfriend said it was the best she's ever had. The food was WAY better quality and more for your money compared to places like the Warf and other fancy places. 10/10

What a fabulous location, and great food. The cod fish sandwich Was delicious, very reminiscent of English fish-and-chips. To be able to sit and eat it while overlooking the ocean was a Treat, then followed by their homemade ice cream. a great day. Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Clam Cakes and Chowder, Sandwich. More

Iggy's is just amazing! They have 2 spots located here, one a walk up and order and then a sit-down restaurant. We heard good things and were not disappointed at all. Everything we got drinks, stuffies, steamers, Chowder, Lobster roll, clam cakes and shakes were delicious! Nothing was to overly expensive. Our service was tip top, very friendly and attentive.
Lots of souvenir things you can grab as well. shirts, hats, etc. Great location with parking available in their lots. Right on the water, so the view is really nice as well. There was an outside bar in a little gazebo that was cute. Good sized deck with outdoor seating. We will definitely be coming back to Iggy's or hit up their website, and they will ship ya food and gifts as well!

On a Sunday afternoon, 100 degrees out, we decided to stop at Iggy's for lunch. Beautiful view of the ocean from their patio. Walked up to the window on the sidewalk and ordered 6 clam cakes, 1 iggy burger and 1 normal burger. Iggy burger was delicious! Clam cakes are good, soft inside and crispy outside - only wish they had more clams! We paid about $18 for everything. Overall, I'll definitely be back!

I'm the biggest fan of fried clams, but I have to say the Calamari was my favorite from Iggy's. I always order them well done and with the red sauce on the side. It's a big portion and for a great price. If you don't want to wait in the long lines, you can always order ahead and walk up to the blue tent to pick up your order. Lines can get reallllllly long!

Friendly and polite staff. The good is fresh and delicious. The portions were large enough for my family of 4 with leftovers. There is a great view to enjoy while enjoying your meal here. Ample parking available too. Indoor and covered outdoor seating is available too. Great place for a family outing.
