Downtown, parking in back of building. Get there early if you want your choice of items. Get there a bit later and score some discounts. some items, like salads etc Get marked 50% off as day goes on. Place outside and inside hallway look a little dirty and could definitely use an update, paint and a good cleaning. Dust and cobweb covered awnings etc. Seating for place is outside in hallway.
Girl at counter was very nice. Guys in back I did not see everyone washing hands or using gloves, but some did wear, so hit and miss there. You can get salads, cookies, salads, sandwiches, cake, drinks, chips, bread etc. Can eat there or take out. The turkey club croissant looked good. Was $10.95 for sandwich. Meat was thick, which some may love, however I found it made it harder to eat and chew, so just a matter of preference. My husband liked it cut thick, I did not. So to each their own there lol. Lettuce seemed fresh, tomato fresh and croissants were soft.

Catered our daughter's wedding reception and they were amazing. They were great to work with. They took care of everything and the food was absolutely delicious! I actually had guests ask me how they kept the chicken so juicy! Service was impressively quick. They came recommended to us from our venue and am so glad we listened to them.

We choose Michael Catering because my husband worked for them. They were very unprofessional and knew that from the start as my husband worked for them. We thought they would aleast be nicer to deal with as he worked there not so much In our first meeting with the owners/ event coordinator they were very rude. I ask if the staff could dress nice and have no branded shoes on but solid black the owner said he wasn't going make his staff pay for the correct shoe to look nice.
We went round and round about the appearance of the staff needing to look professional. I ask them to sign. A contract to protect both parties involved and they refuse to do so. I asked for the clear glass plate for our dinner service and the only Thing I could get from the event coordinator Selena is we will do our best and you should be happy with whatever you get because the owner gave you discounts and free items.
We never ask for discount for our service but was given to us as my husband worked for the 22 years. I then called talk to the owner Kyle about what she said and he was like it is what is it is. I promise to have the correct plates. Fast Forward to the set up of the hall the Owner Haliey and a staff member setup the hall at St Micheals Center They had place stained up napkins on the table for my guest lucky I checked all them while decorating the hall for the wedding if I haven't there would of been 25 out 100 of them notable stained.
My husband to be went into the kitchen area to put something in the kitchen for the wedding and noticed that the dishes were setting on the counter were the wrong plates They we're the incorrect one they were the white China plates not the clear glass ones I said I wanted for my wedding design So much for Owner Kyle promise. Luckily my husband to be caught their mistake which he shouldn't of had to being as it was his wedding The restroom were not cleaned.
I did tell Michaels event coordinator/owners during the meeting we had that I was having my own professional decorator coming in and decorate the head table and the owner Haliey took upon her herself to decorate the head table as she saw fit I have include a photo of what she did. Not cute very! At the wedding reception the owner Kyle was visual sick and other staff member.
The food was cold and they forgot rolls on the head table. They also forgot to get he toast champagne for the head table as they said they would. We had to wait to our grand entrance because the had to run to the store to buy it. My wedding coordinator needed to tell Kyle to speed up service as they were serving the sit down dinner to slow. He also had to be verbal told by the wedding coordinator to stop chatting with the guests and to do his job and get the cake cut. (I have include photo proof of forgotten rolls)

My husband and I flew all the way from Iceland during a pandemic to attend my mother's wedding, only to get food poisoning from this once stellar company. I'm writing this review today to share my personal experience with any upcoming folks who may consider Michael's Catering for their next event. The wedding reception was held at the St. Michael's Center / Hall in Oregon Ohio on March 13th 2021 and Michael's Catering is the contracted company, therefore they had to be used.
Which in previous years for other events our family has had (weddings, graduations, funerals, holiday parties, etc) it had not been an issue. As the original owner previously would deliver extraordinary service at extremely high standards. But fast forward to the transition from the original couple who owned the company to the new, they have now fallen short and compromised the once amazing reputation, we relied on and grew to expect. Firstly, the food was barely warm and tasteless when it arrived to the head table. Second, the staff delivered the food out of table order serving the guests in the back by the kitchen next, instead of the family tables up front nearest to the head table.
In fact, I had to stop eating to address it with the hostess when each course was being delivered incorrectly. Third, the bride and groom had envelopes for tipping which I delivered later that evening. However, the Michael's Catering hostess, stated that there were 2 less staffers in attendance than what was scheduled, invoiced, and paid for. Within 30 hours of the event concluding my husband begins to exhibit flu-like symptoms. Next, family members and guests from the wedding begin to reach out to the bride and groom telling them they were extremely sick and could not go to work.
In fact, 2 separate guests ended up being treated in the ER for their sickness. The documented count was 42 people out of 59 became sick and the only commonality between everyone at this masked event was the food from Michael's Catering. Which is truly unfortunate because my husband and I spent our week visit in bed recovering instead of spending time with my mom and new father.
The most unprofessional and disrespectable part in all of this was the fact that not once did anyone from Michael's Gourmet Catering, Inc. reach out to the couple to apologize or address the situation in any way. After an investigation by the Lucas County Health Department the Norovirus was documented within their final report. Even after, Michael's Gourmet Catering remained silent.

I have been going here for years. Order food today and was really disappointed the meat was dry and hardly any chesse on the sandwich. Seems ever since Mike's hasn't owned it the new owners really forgot why he started this business to give his customer quality food. Mike would of never let the sandwich I was served today leave the kitchen. I'm sad to see how this restaurant has gone down.

Great lunch food and desserts. Quick in and out with amazing customer service and interactions. The servers went out of their way to help us out and give us all the information we asked for. Definitely a place to visit on the East side. While you're there, stop and check out all the local Toledo history on display.

Sick of cooking or taking out food and getting it home and finding it cold or soggy? Check out Michael's family meals. You can pick from 5 different meals that change weekly and they serve 4-6 people. You bake it at home and it's hot and ready at no time. We had the extremely delicious Cheesy Potato's and Ham. Creamy cheesy potatoes with ham and it takes homemade! Thanks Michael's for a fabulous meal.

One of my absolute favorite places in Toledo! Truly a gem with plenty of Toledo history. The Chicken Dumpling Soup is by far my favorite item in the cafe. The cup size is great and filling and the prices overall are affordable. When it comes to the desserts - honestly every single thing I have tried has been amazing. The oatmeal cookies being my favorite.
You also can call ahead to order dessert for an event or gathering! The shop is in the historic Weber Block building and after you get your food, you can sit anywhere in the hall! My favorite spot is at the end by the plants and window - there's also a case with artifacts from Toledo's beginnings. Michael's is a family owned cafe that I adore! I'll always make sure people at try it when they visit my hometown.

I booked Michael's to be the caterer of my wedding on 7/13/19. Sue, the catering manager was fantastic. She was very patient, as I am very indecisive. We met three times and she fed me and the three people I brought with me all three times. We always had more food than we could eat. Sue acted as a coordinator and helped me plan out the timing of everything for my day and it went extremely well. She made me feel right at home and comfortable through out the whole process. The food was absolutely fantastic and everyone was very happy with it.

I suppose if you have a typical American diet you might enjoy their baked goods but we found them much too sweet and heavy. There was nothing light, nothing fluffy, no flavors that could be discerned above the sugar. I bought the Mississippi Mud Pie, an Italian Cream Cake, a chocolate chip cheesecake, a cherry cheesecake, a chocolate decadence cake, and a box of assorted pastries.
More than half of it was thrown away. It wasn't enjoyable enough to eat. When I think pastries, I think of something flaky and delicate and soft.you should taste the flavor and the sweetness at just about the same time and the flavor should be so delicious that the sweetness is barely needed. All the pastries we got were flat and had a fried consistency more like a donut. They were each covered in a thick opaque hard coating of sugar. This was disappointing.

Came by around 4pm and it was very empty! I just wanted to get something to share with my fiance, and I ordered a slice of the chocolate decadence cake and an m&m cookie sandwich. I didn't try the sandwich but the cake was delicious! brownie base with chocolate and vanilla (white chocolate?) mousse. the service was a little slow, there seemed to be only one girl working the counter but I saw quite a few employees moving in the back.

Waited 20 minutes for my lunch and I got it back to my office and it wasn't prepared as I ordered, how can you forget bacon on a club?.Slow service on top of a poorly prepared meal gives it a 1*. I've taken a break from Michael's before because of poor service and quality of food and I will again, see ya in 2019.

I go to Michael's just about every week for lunch. It is phenomenal every time I go. I typically get the spring salad (or the salmon salad when the special is available) with the French dressing. The salads are always big and filling! I've gotten a couple wraps and tried a few soups and they are also phenomenal! You get a roll with every salad and they are always fresh and delicious!
I believe they cater and I would imagine that is just as good! You can call in an order to go or sit in an area just outside of the area where you order. If you're in Toledo, this place is a must visit!

Love that everything is homemade! Their always pay attention to detail. Th sopita is my favorite soup with th fresh made bun! Th desserts are amazing and bountiful. I do have to say that th salads are the least of my favorites. The lettuce to other ingredients ratio is way off if you ask me, too much lettuce not enough meat/veggies. Ive had two different chicken salads but they both tasted the same.
The lettuce and veggies have always been crip and cold. Not to mention th homemade salad dressings! Some things are a bit pricy (cup/bowl of soup that's mostly broth) but I don't really mind to pay for quality food. I was a little frustrated when I asked for an extra tiny square of butter for my roll and was charged after I had made a $12 purchase already. Minor overlookable details compared to th quality and non stop variety of th food!

The fresh baked bread is fantastic, but the lunch food is the real treat here! Try the California Wrap. It comes loaded with hunks of succulent turkey (not deli meat, actually chuncked turkey breast meat), avacado, crispy bacon, lettuce, veggies and creamy sauce. It's sooo good. Plus it's HUGE! It's a bit pricey, but it's essentially two meals in one, as a half can fill you up. So, it;s good for splitting or for saving for later.
The homemade soups are also just outstanding, and you get to eat in the weird, old school ambiance of the East Side History Museum. You'll have to see it to understand. This is an excellent lunch spot. No wonder they've been around 30+ years.

This bakery/sandwich shop is simply delicious. I usually eat lunch there once a month. I always get the rocky mountain sandwich, and it's one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Their soup is also great, so far I've tried the chicken and dumpling, and cream of mushroom. The cream of mushroom was amazing. Every sandwich comes w/ chips, a pickle, and roll. Everything is made fresh, and you can easily taste it in any of their breads, brownies, cookies, or rolls. My favorite lunch spot in Toledo.

The best quality of food in town. EVERYTHING is homemade. even their soup stock! The prices match the quality and quantity of all their menu items. Don't shy away because of the lack of parking ( sorry but it is true ) as you will miss out on true gourmet delight. I have also done special orders where my guests couldn't stop complimenting the food. You cannot go wrong using Chef Michael and his family/team. I admit. I do not eat desserts so that is not included on my review. sorry!
