Bigg's barbecue is unique. Unlike traditional Kansas City-style barbecue, all the meat - brisket, pork, chicken and sausage - is served with light sauce to accentuate the hickory-smoked flavor of the meat and Bigg's special dry rubs. Our three famous sauces are served on the side. We deliver to your door, hot fresh and fast, in most cases less than 45 minutes call 856-2550! We do not recommend any fried items for delivery as they are so much better when you are here!

My family and I always eat here every year on Father's Day and we are never disappointed. The food is outstanding. You cannot go wrong ordering anything on the menu and the Father's Day buffet is unmatched in quality and quantity of food. We had a tremendous waitress today who was very attentive even though we were enjoying the self serve buffet. I do not think any of us had an empty glass of tea or water during our entire visit. Run don't walk to Biggs.

Oh my word! Best bbq we've ever had. Everything we tasted was amazing! We got there at 11am on Fathers day and they asked if we had a reservation. We did not but they still sat us immediately and the staff was quick and courteous! Loved the burnt ends and Carolina vinegar sauce! We ARE GOING BACK SOON!

The Burnt ends were Awesome, ribs were good but the sides were ok. We took out our food and bought the meal for two people $29.95 with a sample of spare ribs, baby back ribs, and double order of burnt ends. Sides were sweet potato fries done but not crispy, smoked Mac and cheese, eh not smoky and fried okra. The sides were the size of 1 person size, but we had meat. Overall the meal was good and we would get the burnt ends again!

Never eaten here before and will never come back again. We ordered a half order of fried pickles and their house fries both gross soggy fries and fried pickles that the breading fell off the pickles. Then we ordered 2 Cobb salads mine was gross. They really do not know to how make a Cobb salad. I mentioned to my lousy waitress about my salad yes it was taken off but the whole experience was bad. Their bathrooms are a joke really red light bulbs what trying to hide something you can barely see in the bathroom. I would not reccomend this place.

Tried this for the our first BBQ excursion since moving here from Colorado. Ordered a sampler to try as much as possible. Also added an order of BBQ egg rolls. Nice portion sizes to begin with. Both style ribs were very tender and delicious but I give the nod to the St. Louis style. More meat and flavor. Brisket was good not great. Pork was excellent.
Chicken was the star of the show. Great flavor, stood on its own, without sauce was just as good. Corn bread muffins were less than average. Very dry and dense made a drink absolutely necessary throughout the duration. Sides were all excellent. Cheesy corn bake was phenomenal! BBQ beans were tremendous! The coleslaw paired perfect with the pork! The egg rolls were a pleasant surprise ordered out of pure curiosity.
A sweet Chile sauce accompanied them and made them better though I suspect ranch would be even better! Price was reasonable for amount of food received. Will return to dine in next time.

Short and answer, it's Average and affordable. Are you looking for a big plate of food for not a terrible price? Sure go for it. But checkout that brisket and tell me with a straight face it looks good. Its rare that I don't eat all my brisket and I didn't in this case and had no interest in taking it home. I'm not saying I wouldn't go back I just would keep my expectations lowered. Okra was pretty awesome, burnt ends decent. Their sauce is pretty standard. If you're into eating at Chili's and Applebees I'm sure you'll really love Biggs.

I love Bigg's and so do the kids. I have been going here since I moved to Lawrence and it became my favorite place to get BBQ. I started going with my best friend who has since passed away and I had never had burnt ends before he had me try his. Now it's my favorite thing to get and I can set and think about the past times I spent with my best friend and so now it holds a special place in my heart. Plus I love the food my favorite things to order are the burnt ends, the warm twice baked potato salad, and both types of ribs.

Hands down the best BBQ I've had for a long time! Ordered dinner for 2. Fried Pickles were super yummy. Everything was spot on. Burnt ends were melt in your mouth, ribs had just enough bite. Chicken was tasty. If there was anything I didn't like it was the sauce. I thought it was bland. sorry. maybe it was just me? Service was delightful! Our male server was over the top nice.
I'd say the female hostess shouldn't wear such short shorts unprofessional. The bread pudding although overpriced was scrumptious! All in all a wonderful affordable large portion meal that we will certainly go back to try more of! Those sandwiches looked fabulous

Passing through the area and asked someone at a service station for a BBQ recommendation and we were not disappointed! Atmosphere was excellent, food was phenomenal! Had burnt ends, ribs, hot links, chicken and all the fixins and it was delicious. Meats were moist and tender with great flavor and the service was outstanding! When I'm back in Kansas I'll stop again!

Let's talk about the brisket burnt ends appetizer first. Amazing! Cubes of caramelized, tender and perfectly sauced goodness. I could have ordered that until they asked me to leave. They had 4 different sauces that were perfect on different things! I'm not a sauce guy. I usually feel sauce is an apology for poorly cooked food. Nope. Not this time.
The three of us ended up ordering the Biggs Sampler platter for 2 and couldn't finish it. The ribs were good. They were seasoned well and came off the bone easy. Spicy sauce. The sides were pretty good too. I'm a bit spoiled at home when it comes to sides but they were good. The seared pork belly was perfect and crisp. They cut them in slivers and were perfect for dipping in the sweet sauce. Pulled pork was amazing with the vinegar based sauce on white bread with a perfectly crisp pickle. Seriously, don't deviate from the plan. #TrustTheProcess.
The crispy smoked chicken quarter was expertly smoked with a crisp skin that made for an exceptional contrast of textures. No sauce on this. You don't taste chicken this good often. The waitress was so kind and gave us a short orientation of Lawrence, Kansas and the university. We didn't realize it but we spoke to the owner as he came and checked on us. Very nice and accommodating. We only realized it when we walked out and noticed his picture. Great evening with great food!

You'd be tempted to pass this by and go to Texas Roadhousebut DON'T! Food and service are amazing and portion size is very good for the price. Hubby and I split a rib/2 meat combo and it was more that enough. The burnt ends were the star, so tender and juicy, the seared pork belly was tasty as were the ribs. They have food and drink specials every day of the week so they are aware of folks budgets. We left full and happy! Thank you Biggs!

Wanted to get some KC BBQ while we were here, so we found this place. Really great food and amazing service! As a North Carolina native, I even have to admit that theirs was some of the best vinegar-based sauce I've had. The pulled pork was amazing! Also highly recommend the twice-baked potato salad, fried okra, and fried Mac and cheese. Only thing I wasn't happy with was the Brisket.
It has ok flavor, but was sliced very thin and was very dry. Bunt ends, however, were much better! Their Sweet BBQ sauce was the favorite for everyone in my party. Check this place out!

This place was pretty underwhelming and really disappointing. The ribs and pulled pork were really dry and needed a lot of BBQ sauce. The BBQ sauce was very average as well. The burnt ends were decent, but the Mac and cheese itself was bland. Reviews said the burnt end mac & cheese were to die for, but resulted in mediocrity. I also tried the root beer and ended up disappointed too. The French fries and onion rings were really good though. The service was good as well.

This. Place. Is. One. Of. The. Best. Bbq. Places. Ever. 1. Hidden and small and cosy. 2. The portions are obnoxiously huge! Yay! 3. The biggest bang for your buck. 4. All of us agreed on this place. 5. They have such a variety, large portions, great wait staff, and the owner stopped by to say hi! 6. Good start to entering Jayhawk territory. I'm picky about bbq. This place held to its reputation as one of the best bbq places in Lawrence, Kansas. We will become regulars when visiting.

Stopped in for lunch and had some delicious bbq! We eat a lot of KC bbq and hadn't tried this bbq in Lawrence. We got appetizer of Jersey fries (bacon/cheese fries), brisket sandwich, bbq beef sandwich (shredded beef with sauce and onions), and seasoned fries - all wonderful! Our server Hope was super sweet and came to check on us often. We will definitely return!

Nice BBQ joint with a rock n roll vibe. Nice decor and hey, a large poster of Janis Joplin is a good one. Large portions are the norm here at Biggs, St. Louis Ribs (1/2 rack) was more than filling. Sides of cole slaw and a corn bread muffin were well prepared. Chicken fried chicken, potato salad also served hot and tasty. Wide variety on the menu and look forward to a return visit, maybe try the meatloaf next time or the.

There is so much to like about this place, even as a Texan. But not so much the brisket (.blame it all on my roots). I opted for Bigg's because of its philosophy of not drenching everything in sauce. First, the service here is outstanding. The atmosphere is very much like a Chili's or Applebee's -- quasi-dark with decently sized tables.
Beer selection also includes some local quaffs. The food here is fresh and served in a timely manner. We had an appetizer and a sampler platter. Read on. Appetizer -- The barbecued egg rolls are interesting and delicious. Creamy and smoky, served with Thai sweet chile sauce. Good stuff. Fun. Brisket -- Dry with no fat. If you're from New York, you'll probably love it.
If you're from Texas, you'll immediately notice that there's no pink smoke ring. Chopped and placed on a bun, it's probably OK. But it leaves a lot to be desired otherwise. Ribs --It's difficult to screw up ribs. So long as they are cooked low and slow, they'll fall off the bone. Such was the case with the Babyback and St. Louis-style. Tender with a little smoke flavor. I'd eat them again.
Chicken -- Good. Slightly smoky and tender. Burnt Ends -- Surprisingly good. Tender and smoky with a little char. These were the star of the show for me (my wife preferred the ribs). Sides -- The fried okra is some of the best I've ever had at a restaurant. Not sure what they use to bread it (cracker meal maybe?) but it totally gets there; Cole slaw is crunchy and creamy deliciousness; Potato salad was cold and creamy, but a little too sweet for my taste (again, this might be a local version).
I was raised on outstanding barbecue. not only homemade, but the local (Texas) pits. As a rule, Texas barbecue must have a smoke ring and it should melt in your mouth. Why am I saying this? Merely to clarify that I'm reviewing this place from a Lone Star perspective. -- I really like that Bigg's lets the customer decide on the sauce. I'm partial to a vinegar-based spicy sweet concoction, and Bigg's offers it up, along with several other regional versions.
I also really like that there are plenty of options for mains and sides here. Bottom line: If I lived here, I'd eat here regularly -- sans the brisket and potato salad. The quality here is good, as is the service.

I was so disappointed. I had heard that this was the best barbecue in the area so perhaps my expectations were a bit high. However, everything about the food it was just rather generic. There wasn't a very good selection of sauce and the sauces they had did not really stand out. If you have read my other reviews, you know that I absolutely love barbecue.
In my opinion, any barbecue is better than no barbecue. Unfortunately, I don't know if that would be true here. My food was not very warm. The meat was not very flavorful and needed whatever sauce I could find in order to add flavor. The ribs were so tough that I actually only ate half of one of them. When I was finished eating, I had more than half of my food left. I did not even ask for a to go box because I knew that I would never finish it. Hard pass on this restaurant.

Let me start by saying: I am hardly a BBQ lover. I love food, sometimes BBQ, but often I find it to be too heavy and overwhelming. I sometimes go days without eating meat. Whatever they batter that okra in, holy cow! That should probably be illegal as it's suspiciously addicting. My sweet potato fries were perfect, especially when dipped in the sweet sauce.
The meat here is phenomenal quality and I will be coming back again and again when I get that itch for a heaping plate of it. The portions here are awesome given the prices. Totally worth it for a meal of this type, with so much labor intensive food on one plate. The root beer was good, at first it was sort of twangy but it got better as I kept drinking it.
I knocked down a star mostly because of service. Our receipt said "free fries" on it but I had no idea what that was referring to. After reading some reviews, I see that typically people get free fries to try the sauces but that didn't happen for us. Our waitress was generally very forgetful and not super present. We came at a slow time so I can't make many excuses for her.
She also didn't answer any of my questions with genuine answers and it was VERY apparent. I sort of wonder if she had ever had the food there. Maybe she just didn't like us. It was also SO dark in there. It felt like a dingy bar walking in and out. Definitely could be improved by a little bit more lighting.

Went here for lunch while in town visiting our son at KU. We were greeted with a plate of hot and tasty fries to try out their bbq sauces while we pondered the menu. While I personally preferred the sweet sauce, the others were good. Ordered the small rib dinner (4 bones) with St. Louis ribs, barbecue beans, and cole slaw. The ribs were tender, well seasoned, and spectacular. Seriously, no room for improvement.
The cole slaw was flavorful and fresh. The real treat here was the barbecue beans. Easily some of the best I've ever had. Sweet, spicy, and chock full of all kinds of meaty bits. Wow!
