We ordered the beef ribs to share. The menu said it came with fries and coleslaw. The waiter said it came with corn, beans and slaw. Ok. When the food arrived, I told my husband that I wondered what we got, but it wasn't the beef rib dinner we saw on the menu. It had 8 huge ribs. It was $40 (I found out later) instead of $25, but whatever. The ribs I didn't like at all, but husband they were pretty good.

There was just no flavor. A hamburger patty with salt and pepper would have been better. I ate one as it was our dinner and I knew a big bill was coming our way. The corn tasted ok, but def packed with fat and not worth it so we left it. Baked beans tasted good, but sickeningly sweet, so left them to. Thought the slaw was good so we did eat that. Husband still working on eating the ribs we doggy bagged. That was our Kansas City bbq dinner we were looking forward to trying.

Not in Texas anymore! I stopped in during a weekend getaway to KC and had to try the BBQ. Being from Texas, I thought I knew what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised! Sauce had a nice little kick to it, the plating is a little more civilized (no trays, meat sliced nicely for cutting, booths instead of benches). It's definitely a change that was nice to see! A little less messy, great flavor, glad I stopped in. Truly, I'll always be a Texas BBQ gal, but glad to have had this experience. Yum!

For our last day in Kansas City, we squeezed in one more BBQ spot for lunch. I decided to switch it up and go with the salmon with a side of au grautin potatoes that were so cheesy and quickly became one of my favorite dishes of all time. I'm glad that I asked for the blackberry sauce on the side of the salmon because it wasn't my cup of tea but the salmon was moist and didn't need any sauce, in my opinion.

When we arrived, there was a decent-sized lunch crowed that thinned out by the time we were ready for the bill. We weren't in.a hurry and were hiding out from the rainy day so we didn't mind that our waiter seemed to be MIA for awhile but we couldn't help but laugh when he finally reappeared and straight up admitted that he forgot we were still here as we were the only ones left in that room.

He brought us a gigantic brownie with ice cream on top as an apology, which we definitely didn't have room in our stomachs for, but couldn't pass up a free brownie.

Amazing bbq even when they ship it to you. I do not know how they prepare it but it tastes amazing when you follow their instructions. Fantastic ribs. Great burnt ends. Nice links. Even their pulled chicken has great flavor. BBQ sauce to die for. Highly recommend delivery.it is that good.

We got the family style Kansas City platter. It was an awesome tasting of multiple different meats! The ribs and wings were the BEST though. Definitely enough food for 2 people and probably would have been enough for 3. We got cocktails that were good, but a little pricey honestly. Loved that we could reserve a table ahead of time online easily-definitely a huge plus!

Came here for a client lunch meeting and was not disappointed. Ordered 2 meat combo of prime rib and pulled pork with a side of baked beans. Prime rib was off the chain while the pulled pork was ok, a little dry. Service was great will definitely come back when I'm in KC again.

One of my favorite spots! I am from Atlanta and lived in Kansas City a few years ago when I worked at Cerner. I recently came to visit for a friend's wedding and came by here again. This place never disappoints. The servers are still providing exceptional service and the food is still as good as I remember! My sister enjoyed it for her first time! Great food and great vibes. We are tourists to the KC region and were told that Jack Stack was THE barbecue spot! This place did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, the restaurant was outstanding! James was amazing and gave us a great patio seat (even though the restaurant was packed). Josh was our server and was kind, helpful, and very attentive to our dietary needs (allergies).

For anyone with dietary preferences, take note: Jack Stack BBQ has a fantastic allergen menu that identifies the common allergens in each menu item! This was perfect for us and immensely helped us with our dinner selection. The service was great and the food was exceptional. Thank you James and Josh for a fantastic barbecue experience in Kansas City!

Isaac & Melissa took exceptional care of us. We enjoyed the incredible Fire Kissed wings, the Barbecue Shrimp & the Burnt Ends. The wings and the shrimp were perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. The burnt ends unfortunately were dry so the extra bbq sauce offered help to moisten the ends which made them much more enjoyable. It's a great space, lively, busy and overall very enjoyable.

Delicious! I had the Mayor. It's a sandwich with burnt ends and slaw. It was phenomenal. They're not lying when they say their burnt ends are good. Our son had the ribs. They were excellent as well. The fries were terrific. Barbecue sauce is sweet but tangy. I like it, but it's not super sweet. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive with drink refills. And the food came out quickly. Definitely a great example of KC barbecue. We will certainly go again!

We made this choice for our anniversary dinner, it was exactly what we expected. Food was amazing and the service was exceptional, Angela was our waitress she was amazing. She suggested multiple places for us to visit, and her service was exemplary. The food was superb all the way down to the pickles, I will say the sausage was my favorite of the meats, brisket was so tender, chicken was seasoned perfectly.

The burnt ends both pork and beef were cooked just right. The GARLIC BROCCOLI to say the least was the most amazing thing I have ever eaten! Beans and potatoes were good but that BROCCOLI was out of this world! We will definitely be back and I may have some delivered!

I was visiting KC in my friend highly recommend it this spot near the plaza. It certainly did not disappoint! We sat at the bar where Adam and Katherine were great! I ordered the salmon over top of a salad with a dressing that was incredible! The salmon was tinder and cooked to perfection. The salad was fresh and the dressing was a wine vinaigrette that they put on the spinach salad.

I smoked chicken wings delicious! The steamed garlic broccoli was awesome minus the cheese (not pictured). And the carrot cake with the cream cheese drizzle served warm was excellent. Large enough to share. I would definitely recommend this spot and if I ever return to KC I will definitely go back.

The atmosphere was fun and rustic and the food was great! I had the chicken and pulled pork combo, the chicken was juicy and tender I highly recommend it! My husband got the sausage and beef combo and really enjoyed it. So glad we stopped and gave it a try. The restaurant is also close to Union Station so you can easily walk over and check it out.

Definitely our favorite meal in KCMO. Everything was prepared super well, even the broccoli (not pictured). It was perfect!

Would love to give them a 5 rating, just wish they had a little more offering on the barbecue sauce or even had some at the table. Though the ribs were really tender. The coleslaw isn't creamy as the menu says, more soupy then creamy. As for the aesthetics, beautiful place, really great atmosphere. Food comes out in a reasonable time and the server is really nice. I would still recommend going.

My God this place was amazing! Our neighbors recommended it. We came from Wichita KS to spend a night in KC and were so glad we ate here! The ribs were fall off the bone tender. The Mac n cheese was so delicious! The mushrooms were sooo good, full of flavor. And that chocolate brownie dessert was pure heaven! 10 stars!

Came here for my birthday and really can't complain. I got ribs and they were really good. Margarita was good and the dessert was delicious as well. Cornbread and onion rings were good too! The service was great (Sam was his name), and the atmosphere is beautiful. It is a little pricey in my opinion but I'd recommend checking it out.

Our experience and food was fantastic! We had the pleasure of sitting with Coffee and he provided one of the best dining experiences my boyfriend and I have had. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and the food that was served. The food was some of the best BBQ we've had. We both got the sampler with beef burnt tips, which were to die as well as the ribs. Overall, great experience and we are really happy to have enjoyed a meal with Coffee. Don't think twice, go and enjoy the food with Coffee!

Jack Stack is a family favorite for us. We had a 1:15 reservation which was great considering there was an hour wait for walk ins. Khairi went above and beyond for us and made sure everything was perfect. We all went out for restaurant week and had way more food than any of us could eat. The beef burnt ends were crispy and tender. The meats on the sandwich were full of flavor. We can never come to Jack Stack without having their carrot cake- it's to die for. We always have a great experience but Khairi made it spectacular.

The downtown Plaza Jack Stack is 100. Specifically, we're writing this review to compliment JS on their *already smooth take-out operation (in place because they're so GD busy all the time), their location (easy parking out front), classic/greatest hits BBQ cuts, price point, and order ACCURACY. We've learned some hard lessons during the pandemic and were appreciative of the hostess always going through our order with us, making sure that we have everything (dishes, sides, utensils, etc.) that we needed. We're such JS fans, that we've had (literally) everything on their menu. Burnt ends, pork, brisket, etc.

Our move is to grab our take-out sampler at the window, then head up to Loose Park for an impromptu picnic with the old man. We're writing this review after one of our picnic adventures. If we have some extra time on our hands, we'll head up to the art district and enjoy the sit down service, but hey, sometimes, you just want some barbecue. We've heard friends complain about JS's price point. Update: You're paying for premium 'cue, dude. Yes, KC has many other "affordable" options, if you prefer. Every cut is delicious. Consistent, flavorful, smoky, and tender. JS may not be KC's "best" barbecue, but it's our favorite.

We had a delicious meal at Jack Steak tonight! I highly recommend the combo plate. The lamb ribs were out of this world. The burnt ends were also delicious. The cheesy potatoes were my favorite side that I've tried while visiting this city. The only thing that I didn't love was the corn bread. It was dry and not worth it. But everything else was out of this world!

I want to preface this review with the fact that I am not from the area. I got multiple different recommendations for BBQ places to try and this was one of them. We ordered the cornbread as a starter and it did not disappoint. The cornbread was crispy on the edges and perfectly smokey with a little bit of heat from the jalapeno. For my main dish, I ordered the 2 combo with burnt ends and pulled pork with a side of the beans.

Our server recommended the burnt ends and the ribs as their most popular meats. I was not impressed by the actual BBQ though. I thought the burnt ends and pulled pork were both just okay. The BBQ sauce did help and the beans were delicious, but because I wasn't sold on the meats, I couldn't bring myself to raise my rating.

One of favorite BBQ joints in Kansas City. And yes, I believe KC has the best BBQ anywhere, so this says a lot. Everything is great here, but the food that makes us always come back for more is the Hickory Pit Beans. I mean, wow! These beans are amazing. The perfect "sauciness" (is that a thing?) with pieces of smoked brisket. Divine. Pair this food with great drinks and a super friendly and helpful staff and you have a perfect spot to visit over and over again.

Fan tactic, expensive, lovely BBQ. Great happy hour $4.00 taps of blvd brews. Get the Crown Beef rib no matter what. Best bite of bbq you may ever have.

Very good bbq right downtown KC. great happy hour with $5 ribs! Literally fall off the bone with that incredible sauce. Good deals on wine and cocktails. Very easy vibe at the bar with Shanti, super good server. For lunch I went brisket and my wife pulled pork! Both delicious and the regular fries and sweet potato fries were outstanding. Side salad was huge.

I guess what people love about this place is the portion size and the menu options to try a few different items with combo plates. Service was on point both times with big smiles everywhere! Be back in a minute. Very good spot!

After visiting the Freight House location in 2016, I put this place on my list. It's worthy of a return visit for sure. We indulged in quite a feast. We got a few of the family combos to share. Highlights: The burnt ends had perfect char with medium rare center. The prime beef crown rib was very flavorful. The Mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. The salmon dip was out of this world good. Honestly a top 3 BBQ in KC and a top ten KC eatery.
