My family and I have ordered several cakes from Hall's over the years, and in they past we were happy with their cakes. BUT the quality and service has gone way downhill over the last few years. Their cakes tasted good so we have given them a second, and third, and fourth chance. No more. The birthday cake that my mother just ordered was so horrible looking that I will never order from them again. I'm surprised that she even considered it based on our experiences over the past few years.
The fact that anyone could do such a poor job and think that their work was perfectly acceptable enough to give to a paying customer is beyond me. The icing piping was heavy and just looked terrible. It looks like the person that was piping the cake ran out of color and the blue fades to a dirty gray color. You can see the pixels on the graphic on top of the cake.
The cake itself tasted under baked. We got a smaller cake back in June and the cake was lopsided, and in general, didn't look like it was purchased from a professional. I didn't bother taking a picture cause I wasn't surprised by the poor workmanship. The only reason I suggested Hall's for the cake purchased in June was because I like their red velvet cake.
Well it tasted really off, and not at all what I remember. I could go on and on about previous cakes that have lead to my opinion now but I won't. Especially because it makes me mad to remember the very special cake that we ordered for my graduation that was a total mess. My point is. Do not trust this company to provide you with a beautiful looking cake for your special day.

If you want to get a cake for your 14 year old daughter by all means go to Don Halls Takes the Cake, this unicorn horn cake looks exactly like a huge dildough or if you prefer a man's huge genitalia, probably not the best thing for a girls birthday party! The cake was tilting it wasn't even straight, and when they wrote happy birthday on the board it wasn't even centered, and all of this even after they had to REDECORATE THE CAKE, so in reality the "screwed" it up twice. The only reason I gave them a 1 star rating is because you can't select ZERO stars! We will never be back.

Their cakes are absolutely divine. They're moist, and flavorful. The decorations are always top notch and never a mistake to me made. This review would be a full 4 if it where not for the employees. I've said it before and I'll reiterate, you can always tell a family owned establishment, their clear lack of customer service is astounding.
I walked in today, a non busy Monday. There were 3 employees all seated -- none of them managed to greet me or offer to assist me. I had to ASK for assistance. I'm always amazed when I receive sub par service, why I don't know.
