The Mediterranean Bistro, established 1996 in Omaha Nebraska, is a hidden gem. Proprietor Shohreh Ma, born and raised in Iran, created the recipes with the help of her mother. Shohreh's menu focuses on authentic Persian and Mediterranean cuisine, proving that food that is healthy can also be delicious. The Mediterranean Bistro has an extensive wine list, specialty drink menu and a full bar. Our atmosphere is calm and quiet. You can relax in one of our cozy booths or sit by the fireplace on those cold Nebraska winter evenings.

How YELP! managed to omit Mediterranean Bistro as a Top 10 Mediterranean restaurant in Omaha (May 2022) is beyond all comprehension. 1 of the 9 restaurants listed is out of business and 6 of them are Formica Farms -- an Order counter and a few chairs and tables strewn about. On the other hand, Mediterranean Bistro is a nice, Full-Service Restaurant with great atmosphere and an outstanding menu and wait staff.
With food prices skyrocketing this past year, Mediterranean Bistro is an affordable option and a welcome change of pace from the overabundance of steak and Italian restaurants in Omaha.

Still kinda shocked at where they have taken pricing. Have always loved the food but we have moved to better value. A 17 dollar entree gets nothing with it now and they charge for even a tiny amount of hot sauce. A review from February mentions a $60 bill for 2-3 entrees, 2 appetizers and 2 drinks. Good luck with that. I estimate with tax and tip you will spend more than $100.
The 10% automatic tip on take out orders is the killer new charge. Simply absurd. Add a take out fee or something but a automatic percentage is over the top. We will stop in occasionally but our carry out days have ended here.

I've been eating here for a few years now and I keep coming back completely happy! I've ordered take out many times and it's always great as well. Their fettuccine is delicious and is a huge serving. The hummus is fresh and yummy. The dolmas are lemony and minty and their hot sauce is spicy and oh so good! In fact, everything I have eaten there other than the baklava is top notch! Unfortunately, the baklava tastes like it was made with sugar water instead of honey and seems overbaked and bland. It doesn't seem like it's made in house, but rather purchased in bulk. Regardless, this is my go to restaurant for yummy Persian food!

We were looking for a great salad on a hectic day and decided to try this. Just what we needed to escape an overcrowded holiday shopping experience. I ordered a Greek Salad and added grilled salmon. I am amazed that they can add that many onions and it still tastes great! Nothing bitter at all. How do they do that? The salmon was done correctly. I usually like crumbled feta instead of chunks, and a little stronger olives.
The lettuce was very lightly wilted. Overall, I was happy with everything. Spouse thought his Spicy Chicken Toss was all very authentic. Like a spicy tomatoe sauce stew. Spices were somewhat neutral, but well balanced. No one spice stood out to overpower it. Good visit. Would go back there.

Mediterranean Bistro was delicious! If you've never had Baba Ghanoush order it here as an app! So so good! I then ordered the chicken kabob and it was equally as good! My only regret was not ordering their yogurt sauce to put on top because that would have really put it over the top! The chicken had great flavor and the veggies and rice were all cooked to perfection! Everything was so fresh! I will be back!

Being that I have lived a mile from this place for over a decade, I cannot believe it has taken me this long to check it out. While I am not a vegetarian, my diet has transitioned to proportionately more plant based over the past couple of years and for that reason, Mediterranean is a big appeal. The Bistro offers up a wide variety of delicious and simply seasoned options. I went for a vegetable kabob that came with rice and an amazing yogurt sauce. I will definitely be back, so many great options to choose from!

Sharing info for other vegans. I called to check and the kitchen reported that neither the Persian Barley soup nor the Ghormeh Sabzi Vegetarian are vegan. Person I spoke to did answered the questions asked, but did not offer any other suggestions. Hummus is good. I've had the Falafel salad. Salad is good. Falafel is not. Also, salad dressing has Parmesan, so no dressing for vegans. For meat eaters, lost of options and the kabobs are excellent.

My mom is Iranian and we have very high standards for Iranian Persian food. The foods is amazing. Our family diet leans more on the vegetarian side (with fish) so we ordered the hummus, baba ganoush, dolmeh, Persian barley soup, and salmon kabob. It was all delicious. The only reason I give it 4/5 stars was because the service was a little loud and not totally consistent and also the atmosphere needed some music or something because the people sitting beside we so loud and distracting. The most important thing is the food and that is delicious. Enjoy:)

We enjoyed a nice dinner at the Mediterranean Bistro last week, a nice overall experience. The restaurant is quiet, dimly lit, and cozy, with a fireplace in the center. The food is a mix of Mediterranean/middle eastern, and they also offer wines/drinks and desserts. We started out with some hummas and pita bread, the hummas was very good, highly recommended.
My wife ordered the combo kabob with chicken and beef, and I had the ground beef kabob which is called kubideh, both dishes came with very good basmati rice and grilled veggies. My kabob was very good, cooked perfectly and really juicy, my wife's kabob had some amazing juicy chicken, but the beef was rather tough and not as flavorful, I'd stick with the chicken.
The service was a bit slow, but they were doing a very brisk takeout business, so that may have contributed to our wait. Overall a nice dinner, we both agreed we'd go back.

First time here since my son said it's the best and i just moved from Scottsdale to Omaha. Had the chicken kabob, rice and veggie sides. All of it delicious. Here's the kicker. Be SURE to get the habernaro sauce side and put it on your rice. Coat your spoon with a slight schmear of it and your ears will be on fire on the inside along with your tongue.
It mad my soul so happy. It had the most outstanding flavor of any "salsa" I have eaten my entire life. It's hours later and that flavor still lingers on my tongue. I have had 100's of salsas in my life because authentic salsa with chips are my favorite snack of anything ever. You'll be disappointed if you DON'T have it. Enjoy!

This is a very good place for Mediterranean food in the city. It's an old place with average looks but it's cozy. Being a vegetarian I ordered the falafel salad and it's really good. It came with yogurt and cucumber side along with hummus and they are good too. I also had the vegetarian kabobs and I felt that they are over grilled and were ok. My biggest issue was with desserts, I ordered Baklava and it's nothing like Baklava. It's very rubbery with lot of sugar (not honey). I had a feeling that this is store bought and not house made.

I love this place, the Caspian kabob is anywhere from good to absolutely great! My wife loves the chicken kabob. The tabouli is the best I've had, I would recommend the sampler appetizer. The staff is always welcoming and they do a great job serving you. Give them a try you won't be disappointed! Back again. Very busy, service was good, had the lamb kabob very good with the exception of 2 cubes were very fatty. The hummus bruschetta was very good, a must have! I like this place, it's very good, not over filling, a very good balance.

I have been here a couple times now and I'd really like to give 5 stars because I really enjoy the food. The prices are as expected for this type of place and food. That being said the service is certainly lacking here and for some reason I just do not feel comfortable. This is probably why I don't come back often. They do have plenty of gluten free options which is nice for my wife. If they could be a little more attentive and a little more welcoming 5 stars would be warranted.

Hadn't eaten here in a long time, regrettably. The food here is excellent. It's also got a great atmosphere, contrary to what some might predict in a storefront space like this one. We arrived during happy hour, so there was a little discount on drinks, which was nice. Kudos to the bartender for extending it to the couple who sat down with 4 minutes to spare.
Their kabobs are delightfully tasty, marinated well, and cooked right. The warm pita bread complements the entrees well, whatever you might order. Portions are generous without being too much. I recommend the Mediterranean Bistro highly.

I went here last week with some work buddies to send me off to my next job since it was my last day working with them. This was my first time here so I obviously opted for the gyro sandwich with an extra helping of tzatziki sauce; which was a mistake since they already give you a HUGE portion of it by default. Our group put all of our orders in with the waitress, who was nice.
We ordered some hummus, which was okay but kind of bland. For my main dish, I ordered the gyro sandwich and a side of their 'potatoes'. The food came out pretty quickly. The potatoes are just long pieces of potato, nothing like french fries; which was my mistake for thinking that. They also didn't have any ketchup. I understand that it's probably not generally used on meditteranean food, but at least have some for the small amount of people who use ketchup on gyros, potatoes, or any of their dishes.
All in all, the gyro sandwich was awesome, but I didn't like the potatoes and they didn't have any ketchup. Call me weird or whatever for wanting ketchup but all restaurants should have some just in case a customer asks for it.
